Rumour: A God of War PS5 Prequel Not Starring Kratos Will Take Us to Multiple Mythologies 1

There have been a lot of rumours circulating about the future of the God of War franchise, and one concerning a spinoff prequel refuses to die down.

Outlet MP1st has reported several key details about a supposed new game in the series, one that has previously been described as "a new franchise within the God of War universe".

According to the report, this game will have you playing as Faye, Kratos' late partner in the Norse storyline, and alongside her will be the Norse god of war, Tyr. Kratos himself will apparently not be playable, but will still make some sort of appearance.

In addition to this, MP1st reports that Faye will also be joined by a companion that takes the form of a "gelatinous cube", and the game will feature a talking sword, said to be Merlin, the wizard of Arthurian legend.

The game will apparently take players to numerous different lands and mythologies, including elements from Mayan, Chinese, and Japanese myth.

Finally, the report points to a comment from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson who, speaking in a recent podcast, said he'd heard the next God of War game is due to be announced in April. He posits that it could be an announcement during the State of Play that's rumoured to be taking place this week, though that's supposedly just for third-party games.

While all this is purely hearsay at this stage, there is a lot being thrown around about this supposed God of War game. What MP1st's report says about multiple mythologies lines up with Tyr being involved.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer before we hear something concrete. We already know Santa Monica Studio is working on a God of War Trilogy Remake, bringing the Greek games into the modern era, but there's definitely more going on behind the scenes.
