Horizon is spreading its wings with a full blown MMO action RPG, with the caveat that it's only coming to mobile and PC.
Yes, Horizon Steel Frontiers won't be released for PS5, much to the disappointment of fans.
More than anything else, this seems to be the biggest bone being picked with this game; how come it's skipping PS5?
Developer NCSOFT has now given us some sort of answer, and it sounds like it comes down to Sony.
In an interview with 4Gamer, the development team is asked about the lack of a PS5 release for Steel Frontiers. Here's the response, via Google Translate:
That was the most common response today. NCSOFT has no reason not to do it, so we would love to do it, but since it's not something we can decide on our own, we'd like to continue discussions.
So, in other words, NCSOFT has heard all the feedback about there being no PS5 version, and in fact would like to produce the game for Sony's current-gen console.
However, unless they get the all-clear from SIE, it ain't happening.
In all likelihood, we can see Horizon Steel Frontiers launching on mobile and PC, and if it's popular enough, being ported to PS5 down the line.
