Stylistically great, but the gameplay is lacking smoothness and appears extremely clunky with the transitions.. Hopefully gets ironed out before release
@UnlimitedSevens Saying the country hasn't figuered it out is assuming it sees it as a problem that needs solving. Perhaps it does from our western perspective, but, not from them? Billions of people on this planet, it would be arrogant to assume our philosophy/way of life is objectively better. Honestly, I don't think we should open up this conversation here right now though.
I do understand it was a relatively light comment though mate, it's just I have friends from various backgrounds, and I know they despise these kind of little 'digs', and the line often gets crossed.
@UnlimitedSevens What you're doing here is mixing religion with the actions of the states business affair. I'd recommend you be a little more conscious of the readers on this site, whom have various backgrounds.
You want to criticise the buyout, go ahead, but lets not package insults as 'joke' which very often cross the line.
The sequels in and of themselves are great, however, the issue for me is the time it's taking for their release. We're waiting years, only for something similar to be released, with a different story and often marginally improved tech. There's no excitment in that.
I enjoyed Siperman, GOW etc, and while I'd play the sequels, they aren't particularly exciting at all, and I'm in no rush to buy them. I'd like more smaller scale, less financially risky quicker releases that focus on variety and fun, rather than pixel chasing.
The Series X is genuinely a brilliant console, but I'm glad I sold mine 2 years ago after seeing where Xbox was heading.. Far too many silly decisions from them. From the silly and confusing naming convention, the fragmentation with weaker console, the unsustainable gamepass, the spending spree, the failing promises, confusing messaging and direction.. Astonishing how a trillion dollar company with all their paid expertise can get so many thing wrong.. Sad times for now, but we'll see how things turn out for them
@wildcat_kickz I appreciate your openess, it's refreshing to see on this site. And I agree, unconscious biases are real for all of us.
Before ending, I’ll just mention two small things. Western involvement in middle east over the past century is something I’m studying closely, and the scale of the harm caused there, and it's lasting effect to this day and possibly beyond for many more to come, is extremely significant, but I won’t go into that here.
And regarding the definition issue, I was referring to Israel’s actions, which many legal scholars/experts on the subject argue meet the criteria outlined in the 1948 UN Convention. Again, that’s a much larger conversation, and not one I’m looking to have in this thread, but just felt compelled to mention.
I’m glad we can discuss this openly without talking past each other. We probably do agree on most of this, especially that the situation is complex and the truth isn’t all on one side.... I guess I don't really have anything more to add, so, catch you another time perhaps. Take it easy mate!
Amazing game overall. The only downside for me is how long it takes to level up a single gun, as a casual player with many other priorities in life, the grind can get very frustrating.
@wildcat_kickz I appreciate the nuance in your reply, genuinely, and I agree that direct state funding like PIF deserves scrutiny. Just to clarify, I'm not defending Saudi. I'm questioning what I personally perceive as double standards from the westerners perspective on some things.
Where I think we differ is on the idea that only “direct funding” makes government involvement relevant, therefore boycott/call out etc. It's here, that the line is drawn in differently by different people.
Russian athletes were banned to pressure Russia as a 'whole', athletes, teams, artists, and private companies were all collectively punished, but UK/US gaming and private industries aren’t boycotted for western atrocities, even after wars with massive civilian casualties, not even after their complicity in the recent genocide. Again, the line drawn in different places.
The line between “state involvement” and “private industry” isn’t always as clean as it looks. Western governments have influenced games and media to varying degrees for decades through defence partnerships, script approval, subsidies tied to narrative framing, and even direct development in cases like America’s Army, which was posted on this site, but no mention of their affiliation with the US gov/army - again, double standards.
My point isn’t that Saudi involvement shouldn’t be discussed. My point is that we almost never apply the same ethical lens when western governments are the ones connected to conflict, intervention, or heavy influence on media. I’m not advocating boycotts, I’m advocating consistency over selective outrage.
Just to add, I'm not looking to convince anyone of anything, and hope you or others who read, dont take this personally. I'm simpky sharing my thoughts, and I'm always open for dialogue.
@wildcat_kickz Yeah, the PIF is the Saudi government, and their abuses should absolutely be called out. But that raises the question of consistency.
Despite the US and UK causing mass civilian deaths in the Middle East and beyond, we don’t see a collective push to boycott products, games, or studios from those countries as a form of protest. Yet we do apply that logic to other nations, Iran, China, Russia, even when individual companies have no connection to government policy.
And yeah I understand this site is hosted in the West, so some bias is expected. But that’s exactly the point I’m making. If we’re going to bring up human rights abuses when discussing games, then it should be applied evenly across all governments, or not at all, irrespective of the level of direct government involment.. Except we wont, since we like to move th goal posts when it comes to the west and it's abuses.
Hope the author of this article/site remains consistent and mentions UK/American human rights abuse, and compliance in a recent genocide, when talking about games developed by them.. Irrespective of the level of involvement from governments.
@Romans12 People who have not played it 15 years ago, new generation of gamers who perhaps missed it, and people who would like to play it again. It's really not that hard to comprehend surely?
In anycase, while it's not for me, I hope those afformentioned groups gets to enjoy this classic. Personallly, I'm hoping for a proper remaster of RDR2. I'd like another run at that game.
@Stepan I share your sentiments. I find games like this a bit strange, I don’t really want to relive my everyday specific aspects of reality during downtime when I’m trying to relax or escape for a bit. It feels counterintuitive to me. That said, I know some people do find comfort in this kind of experience, even though I still feel that's unhealthy, but that's an argument for another day.
At this rate, I may be tempted to 'delay' buying it myself until an upgraded PS6 version is inevitably released.. But then I'll be late to the multiplayer if it turns out to be good..
One thing I’ve noticed on the website is that the polls are almost meaningless at times.
Some people seem to vote without playying the game itself, and the reasons they give are emotional or trivial. Instead of judging the game on its mechanics, story, or design etc, they base their opinions on how it looks, makes them feel, or even on unrelated political or social factors surrounding its creation.. Strange behaviour, perhaps there are young little kids below 10 with accounts here.
Enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima, but Yotei is not for me. Enjoying Battlefield 6 though, great game.. Have my eye on Arc, only because it reminds me of Factions, but I have no one to play with
What's amazing is the current choice of great games, there really is 'something for everyone'
Question was related to 'multiplayer' specifically, and therefore I find it absolutely insane, that any 'consumer' here in their right mind would say they're happy to 'pay' for something they may not have to.. Bonkers..
@ThroughTheIris56 Yeah, I totally understand. This conversation is inevitably philosophical in nature, and I feel most people struggle to grasp it..
As an analogy, it reminds me of a gallerygoer reacting to artwork.
Some respond to the colours, shapes, emotion, light, and atmosphere, they value the experience itself and aren’t concerned with who painted it.
Others admire the human behind the work, the skill, history, or struggle that went into ti, which gives it meaning for them.
And then there will ne those who enjoy a blend of both aspects to varying degrees.
Games created with AI are perhaps similar. There’s no right or wrong here. It comes down to individual perspective.
Foreknowledge also plays a key role in perception. For example, how would someone react to something without knowing how it was created, versus when they do know? Can a game only be good if a human makes it? Will a good game cease to be good if we found out it was AI after the experience? I can see a lot of people eating their own words eventually.
All interesting questions to explore though..
One thing to remember, AI wont just pop out a random game in it's entirety, it will be directed and enhanced by the developers ideas.. The comment is getting to long so I wont elaborate on this aspect for now.
I do agree with you, that consumers wont see financial benefits, once shizzle goes up, it rarely come down!
Strange comments here. AI use won't be exclusive to EA. Like it or hate it, pretty much every sector will eventually utilise the technology if they aren't already, and the gaming industry is no exception.
Personally as a gamer with many other priorities in life, I don't give a damn about the technology used. If the game plays good, is fun, looks great etc, I'll play it.
Perhaps it will even help with cutting the exceptionally high and rising costs of AAA games and they'll pump out more in less time
IF, we see a decline in quality with it's use, then sales will naturally drive improvements/changes. Until then, better to reserve judgement.
@Nei I see where you're coming from. The sheer scale of death, destruction, and violence over the last few year was witnessed by millions in a manner like never before live on TV, was intense.. I can see how some may draw negative connections with a war fps after that experience.
As a society, we have become desensitised to witnessing violence, and so it's understandable why few make the connection with real world events and the game.
Playing fps at this stage has also been around for decades so people are probably accustomed to not making any connections with the two realities, and simply enjoy it as a competitive, social, down time activity.
@Nei Such a strange comment imo. Are you saying the current geopolitical climate aught to have affected the success of this game? And that you expected people to not enjoy playing it? Can you elaborate, cause it seems like you're conflating things.
It's popular because people are finding it a great multiplayer fps game. Quite as simple as that I'd have thought.
@8bit4Life Majority of people do precisely that on shooters, and it's still often overall enjoyable, even if lack of squad coordination sometimes costs the round.
@Fatewalker Thank for pointing me towards that. Workig in the feild that I do, Im convinced your comment was AI generated.. Still, lets unpack things so you understand my view fully, and not just the refernce to the console itself.
So yes we know the hardware limits of the device, and no one expects it to change magically. You are right about that, but my point was more about 'creative' potential, and optimisation too. In fact, optimisation was passively mentioned in your comment too which acknowledges my position in hindsight.
My argument was not about raising hardware ceiling. It was the opposite, that we dont need new hardware to have better games. And what defines a good/better games anyway? 4k and 60fps by default? Or somehtings that's actually fun and inventive to play? I sispect we'll have different answers here.
There are plenty of games that stand out because they're enjoyable, not because they're technical showcases. I was challenging the obsession of pixel chasing. That mindset leads to skyrocketing budgets, loner dev cycles, and studios taking huge risks that can cost jobs when things fail. Even the former Sony leads and some devs have touches upon this very serious issue.
To clarify, I’m not against better hardware that pushes boundaries, not at all. But my point was that we can still enjoy great games within the limits of the hardware we already have, as long as the focus is on making 'good' games, not just chasing pixels (imo).
So while your coment make good technical points in terms of the physical limitation of the device, it actually runa against the idea what I was talking about and doesnt address that directly.
The excitement of a new console just isn't there for me. The leap in capability in each generation, while there to some extent, is diminishing.
The PS5 still has plenty of mileage, and room to be pushed. But what we need is good/fun games to be released, not new hardware with constant failing promises of 'visual spectacles'.
I feel we as a gaming community are too hellbent on demanding good looking games but not games with good gameplay, and as a consequence that's what dictating Sony/Xbox console values.
Expensive consoles, extreme AAA gaming budgets, increased game development times, high risk projects with risk of going bust on failure..
@UltimateOtaku91 'I'll give it a 1 even though I haven't played it, just to counter the usual people who haven't played it but gave it a 10' - See how silly that sounds? Please don't be that guy next time
@WhoderMan I do understand what you're trying to say. Would have been nice to chat to you more, there is plenty to be said, both about these currupt governments and the inconsistency in the ethics of these gamers, but again, this isn't the best place.. Take it easy mate.
@WhoderMan Hi mate, I hear you, but governments have more influence than we think. This isn't the platform to go too in depth but still, if boycotts are really about government ties or human rights issues, then the standard should apply consistently. China’s Black Myth is state-approved, France part-funded Clair Obscur while still to this day holding neo-colonial influence in Africa, US studios have worked with the Pentagon on military shooters, and Microsoft has deep ties with Israel - which is formally accused of genocide at the ICJ. Yet nobody calls for boycotts of those games. I don't particularly like Saudi, any more than other corrupt governments, but there is a lack of consistency here, and appears to be just selective outrage.
Pretty confused with the extreme negative reaction.. Could we draw up a list of all other gaming companies, their affiliates, and the country they reside in and see what atrocities they are committing or complicit in, and then see whether gamers here still uphold their virtue signalling? I don't have that information yet, but hoping all the well informed people in here surely know.. Yet I still feel I could bet there is some hypocrisy here.
Just wish devs would focus more on creating more dynamic, living, reactive and evolving worlds, that feels alive around you. World's that change more dramatically with your decisions, or even world that naturally evolve and influence your approach.
Board of dead and stale worlds. There is a severe lack of innovation in this area. At least that's the way I feel.
The first game, while beautiful aesthetically, was boring for me.
What I hated the most with COD was the awful game launcher. They tried bundling everything together. The insanely huge and confusing files that no one seems to understand what can be deleted or kept for just the games you want. The grind to unlock attachments. The confusing and bloated, slow menus. The constant game mode changed etc were annoying too. I finally got rid of it all recently, and couldn't be happier.
Great, I've been playng the trial this week and have enjoyed it enough to finally buy it this weekend. Thank my patience. Will probably just go for the ultimate version at £30.
I didn't enjoy Ghost like most. Yes it was gorgeous, the combat was actually quite enjoyable, and westerners got to fulfill their romanticised Japanese samurai fantasy that they've been begging for, which I feel largely carried the game. But, overall beneath the surface it was a boring game with weak RPG elements.
The open world just felt dead. Boring side quests, boring npc and general events.
I won't be getting it, but if I were, I'd hope for a more dynamic, living and evolving open world.

Expensive consoles, extreme AAA gaming budgets, increased game development times, high risk projects with risk of going bust on failure..
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Yotei?
@UltimateOtaku91 'I'll give it a 1 even though I haven't played it, just to counter the usual people who haven't played it but gave it a 10' - See how silly that sounds? Please don't be that guy next time
Re: Mega Publisher EA Agrees to $55 Billion Buyout by Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, Affinity Partners
@WhoderMan I do understand what you're trying to say. Would have been nice to chat to you more, there is plenty to be said, both about these currupt governments and the inconsistency in the ethics of these gamers, but again, this isn't the best place.. Take it easy mate.
Re: Mega Publisher EA Agrees to $55 Billion Buyout by Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, Affinity Partners
Re: Mega Publisher EA Agrees to $55 Billion Buyout by Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, Affinity Partners

Re: PS5's Ghost of Yotei Features Some Kind of 'Foraging' System, Sucker Punch Confirms
Re: Black Ops 7 Will Be the 'Most Mind-Bending' Call of Duty Ever on PS5, PS4
What I hated the most with COD was the awful game launcher. They tried bundling everything together. The insanely huge and confusing files that no one seems to understand what can be deleted or kept for just the games you want. The grind to unlock attachments. The confusing and bloated, slow menus. The constant game mode changed etc were annoying too. I finally got rid of it all recently, and couldn't be happier.
Re: New Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.3 Coming This Month, CD Projekt Red Confirms
Great, I've been playng the trial this week and have enjoyed it enough to finally buy it this weekend. Thank my patience. Will probably just go for the ultimate version at £30.
Re: New Street Fighter Movie Targeting Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns
@EddieGreenheart It was ok, but just lacked that big budget movie feel, look, and was a bit cringe at times. For live adaptation it's not bad.
The best film, though not live, is Street Fighter 2 the Animated Movie.
Re: New Street Fighter Movie Targeting Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns
Honestly, I would rather a full high quality CGI Street Fighter film. A overhaul of the story for consistency across would be great too
Re: Poll: 10 Years Later, What Are Your Thoughts on The Witcher 3?
One of the best games of all time.. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and felt empty for a few days after completing it which was a first.
Re: Talking Point: What Should Ghost of Yotei's Biggest PS5 Improvements Be?
I didn't enjoy Ghost like most. Yes it was gorgeous, the combat was actually quite enjoyable, and westerners got to fulfill their romanticised Japanese samurai fantasy that they've been begging for, which I feel largely carried the game. But, overall beneath the surface it was a boring game with weak RPG elements.
The open world just felt dead. Boring side quests, boring npc and general events.
I won't be getting it, but if I were, I'd hope for a more dynamic, living and evolving open world.
Just appearing pretty isn't good enough.
