Across hardware and physical software sales, Nintendo dominates Japan — so much so that Ghost of Yotei was one of just three games not released for Switch 1 or Switch 2 to make the country's top 30 best-selling games chart last week.
Accounting for physical copies alone (digital sales aren't counted), Famitsu reports that the Sony PS5 title has now sold just shy of 185,000 units in Japan. The bulk of these came at launch, when 120,000 unit sales made it the nation's best-selling game for its release week.
Here's how its Japanese sales have looked since then:
- 29th Sep — 5th Oct
- 120,196 sales
- 6th Oct — 12th Oct
- 26,776 sales
- 13th Oct — 19th Oct
- 18,930 sales
- 20th Oct — 26th Oct
- 6,984 sales
- 27th Oct — 2nd Nov
- 4,187 sales
- 3rd Nov — 9th Nov
- 3,203 sales
- 10th Nov — 16th Nov
- 2,368 sales
- 17th Nov — 23rd Nov
- 1,891 sales
Last week's sales data had it charting in the 26th position out of a top 30. Famitsu sales data only reveals Japan's top 30 best-selling games, so it's possible we may not get weekly updates for Ghost of Yotei anymore in a few weeks, as it slips out of the top 30.
