Re: Xbox Poised to Borrow from PS5's DualSense Controller

JayJ

Well the dualsense triggers are basically just an evolutionary concept of the pulse triggers Microsoft came up with for the Xbox One, and haptics are far from being a Sony innovation, they borrowed that from mobile devices. Then there's sixaxis, an idea Sony borrowed from Nintendo. Heck even the analog stick is an idea they borrowed from Sega, same deal with analog triggers. The touchpad? Borrowed that from laptops. Speaker? Another idea borrowed from mobile devices.

Re: NBA 2K24 (PS5) - Stunning Sports Game Wants You to Spend

JayJ

I stopped buying NBA 2K games because:

A: they have become far too bloated with massive installs
B: hardly any noteworthy improvement is made year to year
C: they have become microtransaction heavy

I feel like they might as well just make these games a live service deal where it constantly gets updated. They are already heavily pushing the microtransactions, but I guess there's still too many people buying these things yearly.

I think 2K19 is the last one I really liked.

Re: Developers Rally Together as Unity Attempts to Clarify Controversial Install Fee Policy

JayJ

@Jaz007 I don't think they can do that, as removing a product people purchased from being eligable for downloading is not only a violation of service and customer agreements, it's a sales violation as well. If you sold someone something and you take it away, then you technically never actually sold them anything and they have legal grounds to entitlement to a full refund at the very least.

Obviously things are different when it comes to services, but generally speaking that would create a huge problem among consumers and distributers.

That and I am pretty sure a company trying to charge companies like Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/Apple for each individual download on their platforms would be a violation of their terms of service for publishers on their platforms that would probably result in a massive lawsuit with those companies suing Unity.

To top it off, that would also be a direct violation of laws and legislation regarding digital sales in numerous countries, which would result in those countries taking Unity to court or massive penalties and possibly banishment from any market entitlements.

Re: As NFL Gets Underway, Wild Card Football Unveils Its No Rules Approach on PS5, PS4

JayJ

@NickGerr1986 Yeah I don't like to get caught up on politics but it's impossible to ignore the elephant in the room when it comes to that guy. The fact that he is on the cover is reason alone for me to completely ignore and dismiss this game, that's just how put-off I am by him. It's just a joke how the guy is some glorified sports celebrity when he was always a mediocre at best player who accomplished nothing besides his activism grift that got him sponsors and paychecks.

Re: Video: Spider-Man 2's Striking PS5 Console and DualSense Controller Unboxed

JayJ

@Darylb88 Yeah I agree, these special editions are just a glorified covers special with some decals on them. Controllers are similar, for the most part just a standard controller that look like they had some stickers slapped on it.

This spiderman edition, it just looks like some kid took the standard black cover panels and slapped on one of those console skin decals on it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Armored Core 6?

JayJ

Probably something like a 4, the difficulty ruins the game for me and even if it wasn't too difficult I still find most of the game disappointing.

It's like I wanted to love this game, but it turned out to be a game I don't even want to bother with.

Re: PS Plus Essential, Extra, Premium Price Increases Announced by Sony

JayJ

@Czar_Khastik Yup, now a days I just buy everything I want when it goes on sale. For the $160 I would be spending on a year of PS+ Premium, I could buy a ton of games on sale. At $120 I was barely able to justify it as a way to check out a wide variety of games, but with this price increase it's like I can easily just buy whatever games I am truly interested in and forget the rest.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for September 2023 Announced

JayJ

@Netret0120 Not a surprise when the Sony fanbase has become as fanatical as it is. This is what happens when we have too many mega-fanboys who relentlessly praise, defend, and endorse a big corporation no matter what. The last time Sony had a fanbase like this was coming hot off the PS2, and we all know how that went.

Re: PS Plus Essential, Extra, Premium Price Increases Announced by Sony

JayJ

@Czar_Khastik Yup, my thinking as well. I hardly play games online anymore, and if they keep making these subscriptions more expensive, they will be too expensive to be worthwhile as I might as well just put that money towards buying/owning games that I really want.

With this price increase I think they might already be there. I don't think I can justify PS+ anymore, I simply don't need it.

Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?

JayJ

Sounds like PS+ Premium is going to be a one year experience for me, while I think it's been nice, it's not $160 nice. At that price I might as well just put the money I would be spending on a subscription towards games I will actually own.

Sounds like I won't bother with PS+ anymore either, I simply don't play games online enough to justify spending $80 on it, and the PS+ catalog, as good as it might be, isn't something I need. I can easily live without it, and these price increases are making me choose the "live without it" option.

Re: PS5 Sales Surge a Frankly Flabbergasting 244% in Europe

JayJ

@BaldBelper78 Yeah when people talk about all the incredible first party games I usually ask them what exactly those games are. When they start listing off PS4 titles, I think they have lost it.

Face it, these consoles are always having to face the future. I mean everyone supposedly hated the PS3 when it launched and the 360 was heavily out-selling it for the first few years, but by the time that generation ended the PS3 had competitive sales and managed to win over most fans next gen.

Basically, Sony and it's fans shouldn't be getting arrogant and complacent, this is an industry where leadership keeps changing. At one point companies like Atari and Sega were dominating the industry.

Re: PS5 Sales Surge a Frankly Flabbergasting 244% in Europe

JayJ

Very odd when Sony has been so open about it's intentions to introduce a PS5 Pro before long. I sure wouldn't be rushing out to purchase a PS5 anymore, and I think a lot of these recent customers might be regretting their purchase as soon as that becomes available.

Oh well, you know what they say about fools and their money.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Red Dead Redemption's PS4 Port?

JayJ

@Balie3000 I feel like that would have worked for a PS5 version. Like if they did a proper job of making it 60fps with enhanced 4K visuals for the PS5, at $30, I probably would have bought it. How they're selling this right now however, no way. I am not paying $50 for some lazy and already outdated PS4 port.

Re: SEGA Would Like to Remind You Hyenas Exists

JayJ

@Smiffy01 Couldn't agree more. I only have so much time for gaming, and arcade gaming seemed to respect my time the most. This era of 100+ hour epics and online live-service games just isn't appealing to me, I simply don't want to put in the time they demand.

Re: SEGA Would Like to Remind You Hyenas Exists

JayJ

@Smiffy01 What I was thinking lol, I would like to remind Sega of all the great arcade games they made that still haven't been released for home consoles. I honestly couldn't care less about whatever this is, it doesn't appeal to me at all.

Re: Hardware Review: Nacon Daija Arcade Stick - A PS5, PS4, and PC Fighting Game Dream

JayJ

@Shinnok789 Yeah I can relate to that as well. I have never been nearly as good at 2D fighters with an arcade stick as I am with a good d-pad. 3D fighters can be a different scenario as they are usually not so dependent upon complex direction inputs.

Every time I use an arcade stick, it's usually just when I am playing retro arcade games to really capture that authentic arcade feel.
