@Rich33 I've seen this same problem show up on gaming PC's from time to time. Despite having great hardware some games will just really struggle to perform well simply because the optimization is really poor or some other technical issue with development.
This port of MGS3 is obviously just sort of a rush job, the proper time and attention wasn't put into making it run well. I imagine this will be a common situation for this era where it will get a lot better later after some patching. This is generally why I just wait for sales now a days, by the time it's on sale most of the issues should be ironed out.
This is a huge deal to me, for years this has been one of the top games of mine locked down to PC. Having it on a PS5 Pro sounds amazing! Hope they have most of the DLC included in the console release or make it an easy to buy bundle or something.
@REALAIS Basing "most popular games" off physical sales is like basing "most popular movies" off blu-ray sales. The greater vast majority of game sales now a days are digital, and Mario Kart World is a game that is especially likely to have seen significantly more digital sales than physical as it can be a digital code included with Switch 2 consoles.
This article feels like it's a vain attempt to put the new AC game on a pedestal more than anything.
I always call stuff like this "meme games" because that's basically what they are. The current popular thing among streamers providing meme content for gaming social media. Sometimes they can be fun in a different or challenging sort of way, they used to be old internet browser games such as QWOP.
I always wanted to see this one as it seemed like it would have been MUCH better than the disappointing SF X Tekken. I think that game did so bad it basically killed this one.
At it's core, what makes Sony what it is has always been their hardware. They best not forget that. Media trends come and go, but good hardware is always appealing.
This game looks like the type of thing I would wait for a discount to get. Mafia 3 was bad enough to make me lose faith in any new entries living up to the standard the first two established and the gameplay video I saw just didn't look impressive.
@Topov81 Being able to play 360 games like this on Series X is one of the few things I really like about Xbox. No need for this new version which is basically the same thing, and I like the simple retro charm of the original anyways.
Sounds like AI generation is going to quickly make these things redundant anyways. It's getting so sophisticated people should be able to fake a real person pretty easily before long.
I think this is one of things franchises where it would have been better off just being a single release, but they went with turning it into a franchise anyways just to make some more money off it. Loved the first game, but the sequel seemed very unnecessary and unappealing to me. Can't say I care about this third entry.
As a fan of SWAT 4 and Tom Clancy's Vegas 2 this game is a blast and seems to combine some of the best aspects of those two games. It's a proper tactical shooter for people like me who miss those games. Definitely leans more on SWAT than Vegas, it's got a real emphasis on proper police work as opposed to just taking down terrorists, but the squad control feels like it did in Vegas 2 which was fantastic for solo. I just have a lot of fun playing this myself, solo experience is definitely not lacking IMO, far better than anything I have played like this since Vegas 2.
@DaveTheRave Yeah I remember finding out about it pretty late, because Sony did a terrible job of promoting and integrating it. You had to sign up for it yourself, it wasn't automatically applied to everyone, and you could only see your points and redeem them on the PS app. It's like they didn't want it to be a big thing.
@Romans12 It's actually not that frustrating at all as they have 3 difficulties. In the hard difficulty yeah, hardcore experience, but I was playing on the middle difficulty and it's more forgiving than you would think. From what I have seen of the easy difficulty I doubt anyone should have much trouble.
Bought this game and loving it. I don't need to dismember dead bodies or see naked sex crime victims to enjoy it, not sure how that became such a big controversy but I really think that would have zero impact on what I enjoy about the game.
I am simply a big fan of tactical shooters, especially the old SWAT and Rainbow Six games. This one definitely feels more like SWAT than classic R6 and that's not a bad thing, I would honestly call this the only true sequel to SWAT 4 that really carries on what that game accomplished.
Have to give a shoutout to the gunplay and controls as well. The dualsense triggers feel great and the guns all seem to have their own distinctive and realistic feel. They have just the right amount of customization, and feel great to use. Game also has a proper focus on providing solo play while offering online coop as well. This is what I have long desired in a new first person shooter.
@Old-Red Yeah I agree could never figure out why Sony kept with this ugly white and black theme that nobody seems to like, maybe to sell the different colored panels?
Not worth it IMO. They should have simply made this mass production but for a limited time as opposed to limited production numbers. It's just some scalper trophy as a result.
Just talking about Wipeout is a reminder of how many great franchises Sony has let die. Seems like they haven't cared about anything besides TLOU and God of War.
Why would they release a PS6 soon? They literally just released the PS5 Pro less than a year ago and have announced a major performance update for that coming next year. Seems like a PS6 would be a complete waste right now, might as well wait until they can make it a significant upgrade that will last a lot longer.
Well said on it becoming Fortnite, I agree. I think Cold War was the last one I was willing to buy, and even then I think the last gen offerings were the last truly great ones.
I have been complaining about this for years, especially on the Nintendo Switch E-shop where it's basically a sea of low quality shovelware absolutely dominating the new releases section every week.
I said it before and I'll say it again. VR was basically 3DTV all over again (anybody remember how that was briefly a thing?). Just some largely gimmicky thing that some tech enthusiasts got hyped on that most people just find to be too impractical and limiting to use regularly.
When I bought PSVR back on the PS4 it's something I only used a few times and it's been collecting dust stored away somewhere ever since. I just didn't really like it, gave me motion sickness too often. Yeah some of the VR stuff was neat to see and experience at first but it didn't take me long to get over that wow factor and then I just never wanted to go back. That and nobody has convinced me that strapping screens right in front of your eyes couldn't be harmful, and even if it isn't I just hate the isolation of using it, I just like being aware of my surroundings and being able to interact with people around me.
@RobN The developer has a note about it on their Steam store listing that pretty well describes it. I mean you know the politics are a big part of a game when the store listing warns you about it. Here's a copy and paste of what it says:
The developers describe the content like this:
The story of Heading Out addresses racism, mental health (anxiety, depression), inequality, and other social issues. There is no graphic nudity, sex scenes, or violence in the game, but the adult characters sometimes talk about intimacy, relationship violence, and - very rarely - sexual violence. These conversations are not graphic. One of the game's villains uses hate speech against minorities. Most adult characters use vulgar language. The game is recommended for mature audiences.
Well he is right at least as far as I am concerned. If I am going to be gaming on my TV it's likely going to be with my PS5 Pro. I got a Switch 2 purely for it's handheld play, never even bothered hooking up the dock.
@Jrs1 Yeah that would have been fun. This is just bad, the storytelling isn't even good it's just really lame and there isn't even a real emphasis on the driving it feels more like a mini-game. You can tell the developer was trying to make something very different from what it could appear to be.
I could almost describe this as a bad visual novel with some driving and map navigation mini games.

"It's the best selling game... except it's not"
Runners up being GTAV and RDR2. It must have been a slow year.
Also, if digital sales aren't included, how accurate could this be?

@Contimaloris EA ruined Popcap IMO. Another once great developer their greed and demands ruined.

@Oram77 I'm sure it was. 3'rd person action games like that tend to get highly overrated by their fanbase.

Having a game actually make good use of the trackpad for once could have been a selling point for me. Is it seriously that bad?
