@NickGerr1986 Yeah I don't like to get caught up on politics but it's impossible to ignore the elephant in the room when it comes to that guy. The fact that he is on the cover is reason alone for me to completely ignore and dismiss this game, that's just how put-off I am by him. It's just a joke how the guy is some glorified sports celebrity when he was always a mediocre at best player who accomplished nothing besides his activism grift that got him sponsors and paychecks.
@Darylb88 Yeah I agree, these special editions are just a glorified covers special with some decals on them. Controllers are similar, for the most part just a standard controller that look like they had some stickers slapped on it.
This spiderman edition, it just looks like some kid took the standard black cover panels and slapped on one of those console skin decals on it.
Well, I guess this is a lesson on what happens when you hate/ignore/dismiss fans of a well established franchise and try to "reboot" it without understanding what made people fans of it in the first place.
I have a hard time seeing this succeeding. A streaming-only handheld just isn't a particularly appealing concept, especially when everyone already has smartphones that can stream games.
@Czar_Khastik Yup, now a days I just buy everything I want when it goes on sale. For the $160 I would be spending on a year of PS+ Premium, I could buy a ton of games on sale. At $120 I was barely able to justify it as a way to check out a wide variety of games, but with this price increase it's like I can easily just buy whatever games I am truly interested in and forget the rest.
@Netret0120 Not a surprise when the Sony fanbase has become as fanatical as it is. This is what happens when we have too many mega-fanboys who relentlessly praise, defend, and endorse a big corporation no matter what. The last time Sony had a fanbase like this was coming hot off the PS2, and we all know how that went.
@Czar_Khastik Yup, my thinking as well. I hardly play games online anymore, and if they keep making these subscriptions more expensive, they will be too expensive to be worthwhile as I might as well just put that money towards buying/owning games that I really want.
With this price increase I think they might already be there. I don't think I can justify PS+ anymore, I simply don't need it.
Sounds like PS+ Premium is going to be a one year experience for me, while I think it's been nice, it's not $160 nice. At that price I might as well just put the money I would be spending on a subscription towards games I will actually own.
Sounds like I won't bother with PS+ anymore either, I simply don't play games online enough to justify spending $80 on it, and the PS+ catalog, as good as it might be, isn't something I need. I can easily live without it, and these price increases are making me choose the "live without it" option.
@BaldBelper78 Yeah when people talk about all the incredible first party games I usually ask them what exactly those games are. When they start listing off PS4 titles, I think they have lost it.
Face it, these consoles are always having to face the future. I mean everyone supposedly hated the PS3 when it launched and the 360 was heavily out-selling it for the first few years, but by the time that generation ended the PS3 had competitive sales and managed to win over most fans next gen.
Basically, Sony and it's fans shouldn't be getting arrogant and complacent, this is an industry where leadership keeps changing. At one point companies like Atari and Sega were dominating the industry.
Very odd when Sony has been so open about it's intentions to introduce a PS5 Pro before long. I sure wouldn't be rushing out to purchase a PS5 anymore, and I think a lot of these recent customers might be regretting their purchase as soon as that becomes available.
Oh well, you know what they say about fools and their money.
@Perturbator Yeah I am sick and tired of these awful companies trying to call every instance of public criticism "review bombing." It's become an excuse for them to brush off legitimate criticisms and dismiss an outraged fanbase.
So they have officially become one of those arrogant and out of touch companies that says things like "no, the people are wrong, we know what everyone should like, not our fans."
@Balie3000 I feel like that would have worked for a PS5 version. Like if they did a proper job of making it 60fps with enhanced 4K visuals for the PS5, at $30, I probably would have bought it. How they're selling this right now however, no way. I am not paying $50 for some lazy and already outdated PS4 port.
@Smiffy01 Couldn't agree more. I only have so much time for gaming, and arcade gaming seemed to respect my time the most. This era of 100+ hour epics and online live-service games just isn't appealing to me, I simply don't want to put in the time they demand.
@Smiffy01 What I was thinking lol, I would like to remind Sega of all the great arcade games they made that still haven't been released for home consoles. I honestly couldn't care less about whatever this is, it doesn't appeal to me at all.
Nobody really cares about discs anymore, heck I stopped caring last gen when they made the move to turn discs into little more than physical DRM. They still force you to download most of the game data it seems, and it doesn't save you any space at all. I always get better deals on digital sales anyways.
@Shinnok789 Yeah I can relate to that as well. I have never been nearly as good at 2D fighters with an arcade stick as I am with a good d-pad. 3D fighters can be a different scenario as they are usually not so dependent upon complex direction inputs.
Every time I use an arcade stick, it's usually just when I am playing retro arcade games to really capture that authentic arcade feel.
@RainbowGazelle That's what I was thinking. They haven't even made much in the way of true PS5 exclusive games that really take advantage of what the existing PS5 is capable of.
So as opposed to releasing a collection of their arcade hits, or some new entries in their beloved franchises, they're going for some has-been mobile game developer?
@eagletrippin The whole point of the game is to be a realistic motorcycle riding simulator. There's plenty of arcadey motorcycle games out there, but this series is not meant to be like that. It does have a lot of options for simplifying the control though, much like the Forza/GT series.
Very hyped for this one, with Ride 4 they finally managed to hit "GT of motorcycles" quality, and it's ironically better than GT7 in some ways such as how it's not a live services game. It's left me not only very satisfied with Ride 4, but excited to see what they can deliver next.
I mean there's a lot of motorcycle games out there these days, but ride is quickly becoming THE motorcycle series unless you're a motorsports fan of something like MotoGP and Monster Supercross. The depth here is just so much greater. To top it off I consider the dualsense feedback to be among the best on offer.
It's a fun game, but I quickly learned how the speed stats only really help you out during time trials, for actual races the game just automatically sets you up with similar performing opposition with rubberbanding. I guess that's both a good and bad thing as it leads to me using slower cars more often.
I think it's a great app to offer for existing handhelds, like for iOS and Android, especially given all the Android based gaming handhelds out there these days. As for Sony making their own, I think that would defeat the purpose of Sony making another handheld console.
Hand coolers sounds like it would be useful for sweaty gamers. As for heaters, I guess cold weather gaming? For people who like to somehow play PS5 in the snow?
I remember playing Road 96 on Gamepass, I would be inclined to agree with the 5 awarded here. IMO there just wasn't much to the game, it had a few interesting concepts, but the writing really let it down, which is a big part of the incentive to keep playing.
@RobN I think it's disingenuous to call this a new game, it's a glorified update when you really get down to it. That's like saying Overwatch 2 is a new game, when it was clearly just a big update for Overwatch. Only difference here is how it isn't a live service game that got updated, but the Pinball FX launcher is basically just that, a launcher for content that you purchase. Considering how the vast majority of that content is old stuff that a lot of people bought before, some fairly recently, it's really just them trying to sell the same thing twice.
No matter how you try to justify it, this is simply a poor way to treat customers as well as an example of greedy and predatory tactics.
@RobN Well technically speaking, them no longer allowing you to download the tables you already bought with the latest Pinball FX release is them dropping the support. They can't remove your ability to access stuff you have already purchased, as the old FX games were always made to work offline, and Sony always lets you download anything you have on your account.
By most measures, support has been dropped with this new FX release.
@get2sammyb Sanwa and Happ have always been the authentic arcade sticks/buttons of choice. I got both customs with those parts and a Hori with the Hayabusa parts, there is no comparison really. The Sanwa and Happ stuff feels arcade perfect (as it's basically arcade cabinet parts), while the Hayabusa stuff lacks the feel that you get with arcade cabinets.
@NEStalgia I think a lot of arcade stick enthusiasts prefer custom builds these days. For the price I would much rather get something custom made as well.
@Rafie @Amnesiac When you purchase something, that should be, you know, A PURCHASE. Seems ridiculous to have this attitude that their longtime customers should be forced to buy the things they have already bought again just because the developer put work into updating something. I can't count the amount of games I bought that had major updates, usually if they want me to put any more money into them that comes in the form of a newly released DLC for me to purchase. Expecting everyone to buy everything again just feels like they are blatantly trying to rip everyone off, because they are. You aren't going to win over too many old customers with "you can still play the old versions" when it comes to supporting the new one. All they had to do was come up with some new content, and allow everyone to download their old content, to keep everyone happy. But they wouldn't do that, because they got greedy. Greed is not an acceptable standard, and it should never be rewarded.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Armored Core 6?
Probably something like a 4, the difficulty ruins the game for me and even if it wasn't too difficult I still find most of the game disappointing.
It's like I wanted to love this game, but it turned out to be a game I don't even want to bother with.
