Re: Poll: Do Crimson Desert's PS5 Patches Put Other Devs to Shame, or Is the Game Simply Unfinished?

Jacko11

@ShogunRok You can do articles saying how the game is much better than it's original release, but redoing the review for a game that in many ways is broken and unfinished, is a very bad call imo.

Great that the developer is pumping out fixes and updates quickly, but that doesn't justify that they purposely released this despite knowing the issues already.

You didn't go back and re-review Cyberpunk (PS5 version doesn't count), why should this be any different.

Re: Naughty Dog Embraced Crunch Culture After The Last of Us, as It's 'What It Takes to Make Games at Our Level'

@Stocksy at what point of my comment was I justifying any of it?

I was simply saying that crunch in one industry isn't a unique thing, it happens all over the world and we aren't rewarded as significantly.

The pay I received at the water company was poor and not even close to being worth the stress of those deadlines I mentioned, not to mention the dreadful management and countless other issues.

Nobody is justifying poor company practices, but to continue reporting on crunch like it's unique to just video games, while ignoring the clear difference in reward from said crunch, is arguing in a vacuum.

And that's not a dig a PushSquare for reporting on it, it's their job. But this conversation is just getting really old and its coming from a place of ignorance.

I'm tired of this constantly coming up like crunch isn't a thing inside and out of the gaming industry.

They make it seem like they don't get huge bonuses when the game drops, or that they're not getting paid great salaries, or compensating overtime.

I worked for a water utility company in the UK who had ridiculous internal deadlines everyday that influenced external bonuses for the company. If you missed these deadlines, the company risked fines from OFWAT in the tens of millions and would just lay off it's staff.

Anyone working in the real world knows this is just life.

Re: PS5 Fans Want Trophy Upgrades After Xbox Improves Achievements

I think the highlight around the 100% game looks daft in all honesty, at least from the image above.

It would be cool if the background had a different colour, or maybe gets filled with some art from the game once at 100%/Platinum, to make it stand out significantly amongst the rest.

I like the trophy system as it is personally, and use PSN Profiles for anything more nitty gritty.

Re: Opinion: Sony's 'Playerbase' Is a Weak and Weird Way to Celebrate PS5 Fans

Jacko11

I think people really have no idea how much information very dangerous companies already have on them.

Literally one person is going to get this opportunity so this is being greatly blown out of proportion.

It's already been mentioned about 2K and face scans, this is just the next level. And ultimately, if you care that much, then you'll read the T's & C's or even pay for a lawyer if you win to make sure they don't do anything you aren't happy with.

Each to their own I guess.

Re: The Last of Us Multiplayer Was 80% Complete Before Cancellation, Spent 7 Years in Development

Jacko11

His timeline doesn't add up.

He said he was working on it from 2016, but the pandemic and increased funding would only come in late 2020/2021.

"Sony decided to put a lot of money into online gaming like everyone else was. That's part of why The Last of Us Multiplayer got funding, we got off the ground and we made a lot of progress, and the game was doing really, really well internally".

So for 4/5 years there was no funding?

Re: Xbox Targets 2027 for Project Helix Dev Kits, Calling Rumoured PS6 Release Into Question

Jacko11

Since when do we believe anything that Xbox says, have we forgot about this entire console generation?

The two companies will operate independently of each other. PlayStation is no longer in direct competition of Xbox, certainly not with their overly expensive PC box their creating.

PS6 will drop when Sony/PlayStation thinks it's best for them, Xbox can do as they please because these are two different markets now.

Re: PS6 Rival Xbox Helix Could Cost as Much as $1,200

Jacko11

@Boxmonkey i'm going off the information consistently being provided by Moore's Law and how Sony have bought large amounts of stock in advance across all components, most importantly the RAM.

Considering his track record, who are we as nobodies to question with zero resources or insider info ourselves?

Re: Craving Classic Castlevania? Saint Slayer Hits PS5, PS4 This April

Jacko11

@get2sammyb i'm not tbh. I find it difficult to get into side scrollers in general mainly because i'm just comically bad at them.

The only ones i've really enjoyed was Strider (2014) and Velocity 2X (one of my all time favourite game weirdly).

I much prefer more chilled, story centric side scrollers like Gris and Oxenfree.
