PS5 Console Exclusive Phantom Blade Zero Poised for Gargantuan Launch 1

There’s a reason Sony is backing Phantom Blade Zero, a console exclusive, hard.

The game is shaping up to be the biggest Chinese release since Black Myth Wukong, and while that was likely a once-in-a-generation phenomenon, estimates from Alinea Analytics predict it may have already sold 300k copies via pre-orders on Steam alone.

That’s excluding PS5 sales, with roughly ten weeks left until launch. The title is poised for a big appearance at Gamescom next week, where more media should flood in. A demo has been strongly rumoured.

It’s currently the seventh most pre-ordered game on the PS Store in the US, behind only various versions of GTA 6, NBA 2K27, and Marvel’s Wolverine.

But one thing analyst Rhys Elliott points out is that the $60 game is very competitively priced in its domestic territories, with the Chinese version in particular costing 30% less than the US release, currency adjusted.

That’s probably going to make it a colossal hit in its domestic market, where its themes and content are likely to appeal most.

Don’t be surprised if this ends up utterly exploding across PS5 and PC, much like Black Myth Wukong a few years ago.
