Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 247

JLPick

Well, the kids are playing the heck out of Paw Patrol Is On A Roll on the PS4. Wife has been playing Disneyland Adventures on the XBONE. As for me, PS4 is Horizon Zero Dawn, Tetris Effect (only in VR mode for me!!!) and some Atari Flashback Classics vol 3. On Xbone, it's been Conker's Bad Fur Day on Rare Replay, and of course, on PS4 everyday, is the normal Gems Of War!!!! Hope everyone had/has a great Thanksgiving!!!!!

Re: Guide: All PS5 Games Confirmed or Rumoured

JLPick

For some reason, I see the PS5 being a copy off of the Switch in some ways (granted the switch was sort-of a copy of the VITA)...but I also see Sony waiting on what Microsoft is doing first...they're already dominating the market, so I doubt they want Microsoft to go back into the lead again. At least that's my guess, and I'm sure Microsoft will reveal something at E3, and maybe that's why Sony's not showing up (also possibly because they're hard at work prepping for the PS5 and games). To me, it's like Sony is like Nintendo and does things differently and in their own ways! It's just going to be sad at how far behind nintendo will be with the next consoles race out...Switch will definitely be seeing a large drought then unless the indie scene and nintendo themselves push it up, but nintendo will also be in the mid-lifecycle of the Switch, so they'll then be working on their next console (Switch U, underpowered again, not a real big step up from the Wii generation, Mario Kart 8 DX Ultimate confirmed for it!!!!)

Re: Guide: All PS5 Games Confirmed or Rumoured

JLPick

How about a new TWISTED METAL? I can't believe that a Twisted Metal game is going to skip a sony console (PS4) since they made one for everyone of their consoles to date (including handhelds). Still though, would be nice to have a Horizon 2 game at launch!!!! I'd also go with a party-game at launch too...how about a new Buzz title with buzz controllers (not the cursed using your smartphone titles).

Re: Sony Confirms Zero E3 2019 Presence, Will Share New Plans Soon

JLPick

I'm thinking Sony has something else up their sleeves and all of their offices are too busy to deal with shows at the moment. This makes you wonder if the PS5 is going to be a 'great' machine but also on how many games (of which are not announced yet) are already in the works or almost complete for it too. Other than that, if it's true that the PS4 is coming close to the end, they probably don't have many more titles to show to get people excited for, so I don't really blame them on holding off...and if they announced the PS5, it could hurt the sales of the PS4 currently...and nobody wants to hurt a money maker! (hurting as in slowing down the sales, other than that, the system is still selling like hot cakes, and since it's $200 here with a game on black friday, it'll definitely move more...since nintendo isn't dropping their console down, granted nintendo has Smash coming out).

Re: Soapbox: PSVR Has Quietly Had an Outstanding Year

JLPick

More retail games that show it off is what is needed. Most of the games for it are through the playstation store (and most are high in price with no demos, which sometimes you don't want to pay the high price for in case it's bad). Carnival games is a great game that should have a retail release...it's really fun in VR! Other than that, I still love Playstation VR Worlds and Until Dawn Rush Of Blood. Robinson is also a really great game that shows adventure titles can be done in great detail, too bad it gets overlooked. Still though, can't wait to buy Astro Bot, Moss and Tetris Effect for it! Does anyone know if Farpoint and the Rick And Morty games are any good? Tempted on both, but not sure about them.

Re: Chimparty - Mario Party for Chumps

JLPick

For some reason, my wife and I love playing the Playlink titles (Knowledge is Power and Frantics are the two that are the most fun, with Hidden Agenda being a fun title for the solo department). My only concern is what's going to happen with them about 10 years down the line, even if you still have the app on your phone, will you be able to play them? Can't wait to play this though, also looking forward to the next Knowledge Is Power title and Just Deal With It...would love it better if more party games would come out that use the controllers, or just a plain new BUZZ title with the Buzzer controllers!!!!!

Re: Sony May Be Planning a PlayStation Controller with a Screen

JLPick

After the Switch started selling, I was kind of seeing this, just like when the Wii, Move and Kinect came out. All of the companies copy from one another, and I don't really care, as long as they continue support with them and not add all of the annoying (and taking up space) accessories and other gimmicks that get abandoned after just one game (Zapper guns for all nintendo consoles...couple more games but basically just one or two, Move for PS3, Kinect for Xbox One, Camera on PS4...if it wasn't for VR, what else did you really have besides Rabbids and the Just Dance titles, all the accessories for Wii and the Balance Board...the latter really not getting much use at all on the Wii U). Other than that, it would be nice to be able to get off-tv screen time with the PS5 like the Switch, and could give nintendo a little run for their money (a little), but I wouldn't see it last and Sony would give up quickly, and I'm sure a second controller for the PS5 would then run over $100 which would be insane...plus, don't forget that the Wii U could only run one controller pad (even though they actually said it could run 2 before it was released). Would take a lot of power to keep it going and it could also hurt the PS5's sales, especially if it costs too much and the system sells for over $400. Sony is in the lead right now, I doubt they want to mess up after the PS3 360 era and give the sales and consumers back to Microsoft. I have all 3 consoles right now, and just like with the past generation, it's all Sony for me, but I'd like to keep it Sony and not have a machine that doesn't get all of the AAA games by other companies.

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Planning More MediEvil Games?

JLPick

I'm taking it that it will all depend on sales figures. This is probably why Crash got a remake, and with the sales on that being extremely well, we'll definitely see a new Crash game...same will go with Spyro, and I'm sure this is why sony re-released Patapon, Loco Roco and Parappa and even Dark Cloud...probably something that many companies will try and do and hopefully sony will continue the trend too...Twisted Metal, Wild Arms, ATV Offroad Fury and Syphon Filter...possibly even Jumping Flash or some other goodies!

Re: The Jackbox Party Pack 5 - Fun and Games

JLPick

Granted I'll still buy it for the You Don't Know Jack part of the game, I also hate all of these smartphone-type games...why can't they make it to where you can also use controllers...when the servers disappear, you're left with a game you can't play anymore (hint...all of Sony's Playlink titles). Hopefully there will be patches that can add controller options, but I doubt it. Would also be nice to have a new Buzz game, even if that also uses smartphones (once again, not something I like). But what do I know...oh yeah, I don't know jack!!!!

Re: Rockstar Co-Founder Thankful He's Not Making Grand Theft Auto 6 in Trump Era

JLPick

@nessisonett Actually, had plenty to say in the statement, but it goes into more...basically with laws and vice versa. The 'sexism' thing I was starting to get to is what some (and I state some) are doing to where others (including men) don't do. Other than that, what I was getting at is basically the laws in general about how different races, genders and beliefs are treated differently...person is stabbed, people are accused in the same way...a white male, a black male, a white female, black female or a completely different race in general. No matter what, the crimes don't agree and there are too many different judges that take it easy on a different person. No matter what race or sex somebody is, they should all be given the same crime. I wasn't saying that I'm glad certain women are coming forward with the claims against certain pigs, and I'd also wish that men would start coming forward too, but sometimes it gets to me if some are actual, to where others are just (I want some money and attention)...and this is going into men and women in general. Everybody wants a piece of money. I could go on, but this isn't probably the discussion to have here! Anyways, hope I clarified my statement a little better for you, hard to write on here without going onto a full blown rant, but 'no' I wasn't trolling, just stating what I see going on around.

Re: Rockstar Co-Founder Thankful He's Not Making Grand Theft Auto 6 in Trump Era

JLPick

Very true for the age we're living in now! Imagine what it'll be like 10+ years from now! Trump just brought out more hate in the world, and with it, brought more complaining from people...more angry people. Trying not to offend, many women just say sexual assault or something else and use sexism for every claim to get their way, cops only get recognized for the wrong doings, not many people have respect for others or even themselves. The world changed since the first GTA game, but complaints about games started back in the Genesis/Super NES era with Mortal Kombat's violence, and before that, the violence and offensive material was still everywhere...it's just being focused and realized more...plus, we're all sue happy to make the quick bucks!!!! Other than that, this is just Rockstar's way of saying that they haven't started GTA 6 yet and wanted to start political satire (granted I hate Trump and think he's making a fool out of us too), but even if they wait another 2 years, what will be their reason if he gets re-elected...wait another 4 years...who will be the next president after him? To me, it's just something that they're almost wanting to drop the whole series, or just take a long scheduled break from it and start new or other projects.

Re: Rumour: Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Physical Copies to Have Multiple Discs

JLPick

When it comes over to Switch, it'll be 6 cartridges!!!!

This is weird. All 3 Crash games were on one disc, so why not pyro too. Perhaps they added bonus videos and bonus parts, but other than that, it'll mess it up if they did this. I'll still buy it, but with slow internet, it'll take forever to download the other two (if it's just part one on a disc) and it seems like just putting one on a disc, and the others as a download only, is a pretty weird decision...IS THIS A VERY EARLY APRIL FOOLS JOKE???!!!!!

Re: Halloween Forever Brings Spooky Holiday Spirit to PS4 and PS Vita

JLPick

Eh, would be better if it was Costume Quest 3 or something with Silent Hill instead! Other than that, horror movies galore for the whole month (Friday The 13th marathon and Freddy marathon, plus some other great classics) and then, take the kids trick or treating and surviving the weather outside here (went from summer to winter and skipped fall altogether). Anyways, could be a good game, but it depends on the price...definitly not one that I'd pay more than $5 for, so it'll have to wait until a flash sale or other sale for me.

Re: PS4 Message Console Bricking Issue Is Fixed, Says PlayStation Support

JLPick

It'll never be fixed fully. Just like anything else in the world, if one person does it, there's going to be followers. It's just how sick our world is getting, and there will definitely be more people trying to do whatever, to get people's information, credit card numbers or identities...or just plain ruin something nice of someones.

Re: Sony Hiring for Next Generation Marketing Campaign

JLPick

I don't want it coming out anytime soon. There's still many games I'd like to pick up for the PS4, but judging on how the Playstation Store is slowing down on games being added (not as many as there were last year), it seems like it's getting ready. Other than that, I'll wait for a while before getting the next one, basically to have the first few games drop in price and probably wait until a nice bundle of the system (or going down in price altogether) happens, and this time, just start getting games first, then have the system with a good library of titles to play...plus, there's no telling what Microsoft has up their sleeves, and after the PS3 and 360 era, there's no telling what system will get more games and be the most popular (granted I'll still get the PS5 first for their great IP's). Other than that, I always hate it when the popular console gets all of the sequels and games and the others get left in the dust...seriously, Wipeout 2 and 3 came out on PS3, so why didn't Wipeout Create and Crash...and what ever happened to some of the other family-oriented games like most of the Spongebob's, Scooby Doo's and others that came out on 360 and Wii. Even if some didn't sell well, it's nice to have them for kids that are just getting into gaming. My kids just started to get into gaming during that generation, and I hated having a Wii with a bunch of family games, instead of a better system that seemed to lack in them. Other than that, I'll be ready to see what Sony has up their sleeves to dominate the next generation, and laugh at how far behind Nintendo will then be, granted the Switch is selling, imagine the fact that the indie developers will want to up their games and prices on the next Sony and Microsoft consoles, leaving nintendo to really have to up their feet for their next console too. It'll be interesting for 2020 if that's when all of this goes down!

Re: SEGA Cancelled Full Remakes of the Shenmue Games

JLPick

I love the versions that we got...takes me back to playing the original on the Dreamcast and the sequel on the Xbox. I'll just take them both, since I never neither console anymore! Other than that, we're getting a 3rd one that will be made for PS4 in mind with graphics! Until then...can I suggest some of the other Dreamcast classics being re-made...Toe Jam And Earl 3, Hydro Thunder, Evolution 1-2, Skies Of Arcadia, Sonic Shuffle, Sega Swirl --yup, it was a hidden game on the dreamcast internet disc, and how about Illbleed, Time Stalkers and the first 2 Crazy Taxi's!!!! I'll even go with a new Seaman game that takes full advantage of the Playstation VR!!!!

Re: Sony to Resolve Harmful PS4 Message Issue with Firmware Update

JLPick

It's only going to get worse as generations go onward. Some people have no lives and just want to hurt other people for no reasons at all. There's always viruses popping up on computers, Facebook, email accounts...and Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have had issues throughout since the 'online' days that consoles started. Glad I like the original systems of just slap in the disc or cartridge and play, without the usage of internet...Hey, can we go back to those days instead!!!!!!

Re: Castlevania Requiem Is Based on the PSP Version of Symphony of the Night

JLPick

I'm just glad the PS4 is finally getting a Castlevania game. After the 2 for PS3, I thought I read somewhere that they were done making them, and I never wanted that...I was even one of the ones that somewhat enjoyed the N64 titles. My favorites are still part 2 and 3 on the NES and (what I would call) fantastic Castlevania Bloodlines on Genesis and Super Castlevania IV on super nes. There are two other ones that I wish they would re-release in 4K for PS4...the 2 for PS3 in one nice collection! That'll probably happen when Dante's Inferno gets another chance (another great title that has nothing to do with anything mentioned above).

Re: Review: Onrush (PS4)

JLPick

It did say in the review that 'co-op' can be used...does this mean that you can play more than just a tutorial with a friend on the couch, or does it just stick to that? I'd get this game, if it just had more single-player offline modes, but to get it and just play a tutorial over and over again, doesn't seem worth it. Other than that, I loved Drive Club (got the original and VR version), but I guess I'll just stick with them, the Need for Speeds and my original Motorstorms on the PS3, until something great comes along that isn't just focused on online...seriously, we need some co-op games on the PS4 (even if they are just party games and family-friendly games...would like something that my wife can get into and my kids can enjoy at the same time).

Re: Feature: What Not to Expect at E3 2018

JLPick

I'm actually hoping for games that haven't been shown to coming soon. It would be nice to see that they are working on a new Twisted Metal, Parappa The Rapper, Loco Roco, Ratchet And Clank or even some of their earlier classics getting a new taste (granted even if they are being done for PS5 in the future). There's so many Playstation games that have been on Ps1-Ps3, but some of those franchises seem to be missing on the PS4 at the moment...could be a great way to fill in big name gaps!!! Anyways, the one game I've been waiting for (since it was announced as coming and has become a no-show for several years) is the newest Toe Jam And Earl...whatever happened to it, as it's one game I've been looking forward to (at least re-release part 3, since I no longer have an original X-box). Other than that, the only thing that gets me looking, is to see (after the shows) on what games were announced for Ps4 and Switch.

Re: Review: PixelJunk Monsters 2 (PS4)

JLPick

Loved the previous one, but I think I'll wait on this one...too much in my backlog as it is, and too many other games releasing here soon too that I'd like to get (Sega Genesis Classics, Jurassic World Evolution, God Of War, Spyro The Dragon Trilogy and more). Plus, I thought I saw that this was getting a physical release later on, so may just wait for that and have the fancy artwork and case for the collection too, as I'd rather have that, but, will still wait for the price to go down a bit.

Re: PS4 'Entering Final Phase of Its Life' Says Sony CEO

JLPick

Honestly, even when a PS5 comes out, the PS4 will continue to get games for at least a year or two, it's just that most of Sony's focus would be on the PS5 until the sales climb high enough to surpass the PS4. In all, I don't want a new system right now. With having the Switch, PS4 and an XBONE, I'm not ready, and it feels that the VR still hasn't got off on the track it should have yet. Plus, there's still so many greats that can come to PS4 yet...there hasn't been a new Twisted Metal, Sly Cooper and so many other greats that came out yet, and I'm hoping that we will get more games from Sony before a new system even comes out. I still think it's going to be a 2020 thing for the PS5, at least that's what I'm hoping, but I do hope that the PS5 isn't high in price (at least keep it at $400 or less). Unfortunately, I'm not ready to dip into another system too soon.

Re: PS4 Is Way Ahead of Xbox One in Total Console Sales, Says New Data

JLPick

I have to admit, I own all 3 consoles, but I usually always look to purchasing a game (one that would be on both) for PS4 first, but only because I've gone with Sony since the PS2 (been with nintendo and sega before then). The Xbox one gets played a little (ori and the blinded forest, zoo tycoon and rare replay are the only ones) but for some reason, it's the main screen that has me confused, basically with still trying to figure it out after a year of owning it. Unfortunately, I hated the 360 (due to the errors I've had with 2 of them) but I only liked the original XBOX for the dreamcast games that got moved over. The thing I notice with Xbox is that they don't keep many of the same IP's over a generation. Blinx, Voodoo Vince, Tork, Fusion Frenzy, Amped, Project Gotham, Rallisport Challenge, Viva Piñata and their sports franchise, they seem to quit even trying with them, where Sony and Nintendo keep their IP's going. Anyways, I guess I'm still wondering on if Atari is still going with the Ataribox, and if the rumors are true that Sega is in development with a new console (not a mini). Other than all of this, it would be nice to see Sony and Nintendo battle it out once again, and it seems like it may happen with the PS4 and Switch (granted the switch is underpowered).

Re: Review: AO International Tennis (PS4)

JLPick

Well, hopefully the next one is worth it. If not, I'll keep hope that a Hot Shots Tennis, Virtual Tennis or even Sega Superstars Tennis will release! (please to the 3 I mentioned). Other than that, guess I'll continue to play the PS3 ones I own! Would also be nice to have a new Volleyball title (one that's not mature rated) on the PS4 too. I haven't seen a good volleyball standalone title (not including all of the sports compilations) since the PS2's days...Outlaw Volleyball, Summer Heat Beach Volleyball, Xbox's Dead Or Alive Xtreme and Gamecube's really great one...Beach Spikers by sega! Yup, maybe sega needs to bring back their classic sports games and bring them into the new gen! They had some great ones...World Series Baseball, College Football, NBA, NHL, Virtua Tennis. Too bad Sega will never be what they once were.

Re: Review: Super Mega Baseball 2 (PS4)

JLPick

The original was a pretty decent game, so I'm looking forward to this one (when the price goes down or it's on sale during a flash sale). It's a nice cartoony game for my kids, since the Little League Baseball ones aren't around any more. Would be nice to have a Sega Superstars baseball game instead though!!!! (hint hint there sega).

Re: Learn More About Yoku's Island Express in New Story Trailer

JLPick

I'm actually looking forward to this game. Hoping that the price is $40 or less though, because it still doesn't look like a $60 title. May actually even double dip and purchase it for the Switch too...depending on how much I actually get into it! But, the Spyro Trilogy, Sega Genesis Classics, Harvest Moon and Jurassic World Evolution games are coming out too, so it's a possible of getting this.

Re: Lumines Remastered Delayed, Will Drop onto PS4 in June

JLPick

Loved this game in the past! Can't wait to play and pick it up! Really honestly wish the PSP/VITA remasters would get physical releases too, just to be able to own the artwork (Patapon, Loco Roco, Loco Roco 2, Parappa the Rapper). Other than that, this was a good game to play with until a new Tetris appeared on the consoles!!!

Re: PlayStation's Relationship with Amazon Worsens As PSN Codes Are Dropped

JLPick

Amazon reminds me of when Walmart first came into play...take over other stores (which it's kind of doing) and then it has people by their necks to only go through them.

Anyways, I usually never get games through Amazon, many seem too expensive, and I don't like having to pay for Prime. It's a shame that people are having this problem though, but maybe it's licensing rights that Sony and other game companies are stopping. Even as I look on Amazon at times, it seems even movies are lost or too high on there too...or maybe Amazon is too worried about selling their grocery store items now instead of games????!!!!!!!

Re: Feature: 15 Games We Want to See at E3 2018

JLPick

@Fight_Teza_Fight I'm with you. It seems that Kingdom Hearts 3 keeps on getting delayed further and further. I see it in 2019, but I also keep feeling that the more they delay it, the more it will hurt the game when it finally (if) gets released.

Re: Feature: 15 Games We Want to See at E3 2018

JLPick

I'm hoping that Sega shows off Shenmue 3 for one thing. I'd also like to be able to see if the newest Toe Jam And Earl game is still in development, or if it is forgotten. Other than that, I'd like to see a few surprises too...maybe a new Sly Cooper or Twisted Metal...or the possibility of a new Loco Roco (I'm probably the only one wanting that) or even bringing some old collections into play! Hey, with the re-release of Shadow Of Colossus, how about bringing ICO over and giving it the same treatment again, or even a new Dark Cloud! I'll even go with a nice Grandia collection!

Re: Soapbox: Why You Should Play Shenmue I & II on PS4

JLPick

@get2sammyb I remember it being advertised in their official magazine, which turned out to be the last issue. I got excited for the games mentioned, and then...low and behold...they cancel the system, which made me even more disappointed because I just bought it...then it was a race to pick up extra controllers, memory cards and games for it, because stores caught wind over here and just eliminated the system and items rather quickly.

Re: Soapbox: Why You Should Play Shenmue I & II on PS4

JLPick

@get2sammyb Part 2 was only out on X-box in the US...was announced for Dreamcast, but Sega pulled the plug on the system...also why X-box got Toe Jam And Earl 3, Panzer Dragoon Orta and a list of others.

Shenmue was a great game on the Dreamcast when I played it...many hours, but the story does get lengthy to where you end up putting it away for a while. Not sure how the graphics will be updated, but I'm sure they look pretty bad to today's AAA Game standards. Part 2 was the same, and both were great titles! Can't wait for this collection and part 3...now, onto what I'm sure many others would or did say...when can we expect more Sega classics to get remastered! I'm dying for Toe Jam And Earl 3 to make a comeback...especially since I'm still eagerly awaiting the arrival of Toe Jam And Earl 4!

Re: Review: Bridge Constructor Stunts (PS4)

JLPick

@tomassi I remember Zool, although I owned it on the Genesis. Tough as nails game and was a little too fast, could be where your seizures came from due to it. My youngest daughter has seizures too, but for some reason, not one single game has activated it though, but she hasn't played any Sonic games yet, which they technically hurt and strain my eyes.

This game looks kind of interesting, but I never really got into the first of the series...this one looks a little better though, just wondering if it would be as fun as Elefunk on the PS3, or another one that will get too tough later on to where I turn it off.

Re: Review: God of War (PS4)

JLPick

@get2sammyb Great review, and glad to know that it's a 'worth the $60 price tag'. My question, if there is online play function on it, how bad is it to get a platinum trophy without having to play online.
