Re: Review: Syberia 3 (PS4)

JLPick

I actually enjoyed the previous 2 in the series, so I will purchase this one when it goes down to the $20 mark...will never pay the full price on it though. Other than that, granted the acting is horrible (and there are many other games that are pretty good with bad acting), it still looks like it would be a game to delve into for a few hours and enjoy nonetheless.

Re: Ubisoft May Be Taken Over by Vivendi Before the Year Is Out

JLPick

No problem, overtime I see on here something with a UBISOFT game, everyone is putting it and the company down, so why are people arguing about this now? This may actually help out Ubisoft a little more financially, and hopefully get some of their older games a fresh new start. I'd like to see a Rayman Raving Rabbids title on the PS4 that wasn't Rabbids Invasion, but I'd also like to see a brand new Rayman title too.

Re: SEGA CD Classic Night Trap Is Partying to PS4

JLPick

@JoeBlogs I remembered...I think they were goblins in the second one...just couldn't stand the acting from that kid, his parents, some of the teens in it (the guy with the glasses giving a whole script reading on what the goblins were doing to his girlfriend was hilarious) and that witch. Then there was the fact that you could definitely tell the goblins were just masks, as everything moved except their mouths. It was just so cheesy, and hard to believe that a company actually allowed it to come to the theaters! Hard to believe that no one tried to make a third one, or even re-make the first and second one...especially since it actually has a cult following!!!

Re: SEGA CD Classic Night Trap Is Partying to PS4

JLPick

@JoeBlogs Troll 2 was horrible, still not great to watch unless you have a keg of beer to drink and have nothing better to do! I remember seeing it, the bad effects, the bad (really bad) acting, the weird setting...what was going on with the popcorn scene. The movie didn't even come close to the original (which also wasn't good). My favorite 'cheesy' film was Killer Klowns From Outer Space...also horrible, but imaginative in it's own way...ahh, the b-horror films from the 80's!!!!

Re: SEGA CD Classic Night Trap Is Partying to PS4

JLPick

@get2sammyb If I remembered the controversy (I was 12 when it was released), it was due to the nature of the game itself...slightly clad girls (granted they weren't nude, but 'slutty' still the same) and the horror mechanism that it slightly did. Other than that, it was the time period when the games were getting more brutal...which was weird because the Castlevania games on NES had drops of blood (even the Nightmare On Elm Street game for NES). Mortal Kombat was the point that the ratings really started to take off, and parents were outraged at that game. Then I started finding other genesis titles that were rated MC17 (what would probably be M nowadays)...some of which made no sense...like Boogerman...and some that were just because it was a cartoon that parents hated...Beavis And Butthead. Ahh, the love of the ratings and parents that hate anything that is popular (The Pokemon being mythical devils, Ren and Stimpy's too adult humor, Spongebob's adult humor, Beavis smoking...granted smoking is allowed in past cartoons like Popeye and Looney Tunes and Disney Animation. It's just amazing, but this game, even though I never played it, really pushed boundaries back in the day. It was almost impossible to find, which made it a big collector's item (hint the cult-favorite).

Re: Review: Dragon Quest Heroes II (PS4)

JLPick

@ShogunRok Still surprised that they never re-released them on the NES section of the E-Shop. Maybe nintendo will actually see that there is love for them, and pay them to do this...since the Switch is actually selling and the Wii U wasn't, maybe this could become a reality.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest Heroes II (PS4)

JLPick

@Tasuki Never got one through Nintendo Power...mine was gotten through Kool Aid Points...where I also earned enough to get Tetris 2 and Kirby's Adventure! Loved the game, but never was able to find the next 2 in the series (if they even came to the US). There was just something about them, and the music that you got when you encountered a slime of other enemy! Also love the Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime game, even though that one was more geared to a kid-friendly version mixed with Advance Wars. Always good games though, and if they don't make a collection, I'd at least go for re-releasing them through the stores on the consoles, even if they are through the NES section on a nintendo console.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest Heroes II (PS4)

JLPick

As I'm still trying to complete the first one, and I'm wanting to purchase Dragon Quest Builders too, my back log is going to get bigger...especially with still wanting Horizon, Last Guardian, Yooka-laylee and the upcoming Crash Trilogy, Wipeout Collection, Gran Truismo Sports and Everybody Golf...plus, who knows what else will be released after E3 happens. Can't wait to get this, and by the time I do finally purchase it, it will be down in price at least!!! Now, can we get the original Dragon Warrior titles in a nice bundle collection??? Also, will we ever get Grandia 2 added to the store on the PS2 side. Grandia 2 was still one of my favorite Dreamcast RPG's and I even bought it again on PS2!!!

Re: Nope, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III Aren't Releasing This Year

JLPick

We'll get Kingdom Hearts 3/1.5/2.5/3.8: The Premiere Before The Real instead.

Anyways, I don't see it coming out until Playstation 5 is talked about...seems like Square Enix is in the works on other projects, than a new Kingdom Hearts, either that, or they have too many other projects and not enough man-labor for the games that they announce. It'll come out one day, it could just be a license problem with the disney characters or a few glitches in the game itself. As for the Final Fantasy VII, I somehow never really enjoyed the PS1 title, so I'm not too concerned...my favorite Final Fantasy game that I really enjoyed was X. I'd rather have the Grandia titles make a comeback!

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@kimpod1 Dreamcast was an incredible console, and I really wish that more people paid attention to it. I still have a good library of games for it, even though the VM Memory Cards don't display anything on the 'go' anymore. A good console that I think was just way ahead of its time, but definitely had many great ideas to it! And, just like you, I think if Sega didn't mess up so many things so many times, they'd still be around competing with Sony and Nintendo, but I don't think Microsoft would be around anymore, unless they'd help sega.

Re: Friday the 13th: The Game Unmasks 26th May on PS4

JLPick

@get2sammyb October would have been a good time for it...close to Halloween and on Friday the 13th. Would be really nice if it came with a little bonus too...a Jason statue, or controller skin with blood on it. I maybe a little Jason fan (Freddy is my favorite), but I'd get this game no matter what (just like I still own the Freddy and the Jason one on the NES in mint condition...yup, two copies of each).

Re: Friday the 13th: The Game Unmasks 26th May on PS4

JLPick

Yes...been waiting for this game, and even though the graphics look like they came from PS3, it'll be nice to play as Jason and go nuts! I wonder if there will be a section where, after Jason is defeated, Freddy will reach up and grab the mask?

Anyways, does anyone actually know what really happened to the Child's Play game that was in the works for the PS3 a few years ago?

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@kimpod1 I think of sony like Universal and nintendo like disney. Only for this reason...nintendo has a hit every now and then that does surprisingly very well, but their old IP's always sell...just like disney movies (sorry to say, I've not like anything that disney has put out since the late 90's...especially after living in florida (worked at Universal though) and found out that there's too much G*Y pride there)...but Universal has various genres (dreamwork animation and then the hardcore genres)...like Sony, which also does all various genres.

I also see what you say, about people saying that Sony doesn't have kid-friendly games...which they do, greatly. Parappa, the Move titles on PS3, Buzz Jr and many that were from PS1 on up, and yup, many games on the PS4 store that are more E-rated than others. Even 360 was like that, it's just harder to see other companies besides the main companies make any children's games anymore. Nintendo's are more cartoony and colorful, which is where they get the whole kid-friendly games, and I love playing them...there's always some kind of love to nintendo...but they need others in their categories too.

Also, got rid of the Wii U for many of the retail games. The downloads on the E-Shop (many of them, but not all) were cheap cheesy play for a minute and get bored games...as for the retail scene, besides Super Mario 3D World, DK Country, Zelda's, Xenoblade and Mario Kart, the rest seemed rushed out titles to fill gaps for the ones who bought the system...Kirby, Captain Toad, Mario Tennis, Smash (which was missing the story mode), Star Fox and Animal Crossing all seemed rushed and were missing the love that nintendo usually puts into their games. Truly, the only game I really liked and enjoyed on it was Mario 3D World and I still didn't think it was the best Mario title. I sold the Wii U just in it's second year, and I had no regrets...plus, it gave me a bunch of PS4 goodies at the time. The system had potential, but it seemed like it was just a learning toy for what they were marketing for the Switch. I'm still not even sold on the Switch after the Wii U fiscal.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Numbers Continue to Drop as Software Dries Up

JLPick

PS4 is still kicking it, it's just because a new system entered the scene with Zelda. Switch will fade out for a while (at least go down a bit) after Mario Kart 8 arrives. Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey are the only other ones coming for it that are big names...3DS doesn't have a whole lot coming out for it (actually neither does PS4). Summer is also coming, which means the sales will go down even more, but the hype for switch is what's killing it, but, the sales will be up to Nintendo for that one (and they seem to struggle with 3rd parties, and will probably screw it up again...just give it a year or 2). Other than that, when PS4 puts the exclusives out, the sales will climb again...it's still dominating, it just has a new challenger...Switch.

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@kimpod1 Rumble Boxing was first on Dreamcast, later came to the N64 and part 1 then later on PS1. Part 2 did make it to PS2, but was forgotten. Still though, they weren't the best, but enjoyable. Clay Fighters was always one of my favorites.

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@kimpod1 I think the days of games coming out from the companies every week has ended, but I see you're point. Since the Atari, games were pouring out right and left, all the way up to the PS2, Gamecube and XBOX era, where after that, they stopped. I believe that most of that was due to the stores on the systems, where many games get added every week, and if there was no online stores on the systems, we'd see the same trend as the past happening...many games coming out each week. Now, of course even with the technology and the games having bigger budgets and more time and money spent into them, we probably won't see the great numbers. Nintendo is great, but even if we look at the Wii U (and take away the short-played games that nintendo even made...Captain Toad, Kirby Rainbow Curse, and Star Fox...which star fox seemed rush and just a re-release of the N64 classic), we're even left there with just a small amount. Sony, with the PS4, seemed to have more focus on making 3rd party companies happy in the first few years, with sony only releasing a handful of their own games, and many being re-releases from the PS3 era, or VITA and PSP titles, but I'm seeing more coming out or announced for the rest of this year and the coming year (New Hot Shots Golf, Last Of Us 2, Ni No Kuni 2, the next Uncharted and I'm sure there will be more announced). E3 is coming, and if rumors are true that Sony has the biggest space reserved, and nintendo is second in line with space, maybe we'll see plenty! I still though, kind of enjoy the PS4 for all of the games coming out...for some reason (and I grew up with an Atari...yup, old), it feels like the heydays of the NES, where many games are coming out in the retail scene and the genres are my favorites...platform, adventure, strategy, simulation (granted there I'd love to see a Sims title) and many puzzle titles. The only genre I'd like to see more of is Party...I'd love for Sing Star to get a physical release with microphones (not the stupid use your phone or tablet to play) and I'd love for more trivia games (Trivial Pursuit or the National Geographic titles) and would also love for a new BUZZ title with the buzzers added. But, just like you said, without the games pouring out onto the systems, this is why I'm not excited for the Switch...I'd love to have nintendo's next console, but I still see no reason or want for it when the same games are already on a system I own, and Zelda doesn't look that great to me and the only other game I saw for it, doesn't even come out until the end of the year (and nintendo will probably push it into 2018) and I saw nothing else for it. Same goes for the XBONE, which I saw a couple of their exclusives, but still...nothing else to make it worth a purchase. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft need to know that the consumers go for the console for their exclusives, but they also need to know that they need to have various genres. Nintendo is great for the platform titles and party games, but they lack in sports (realistic sim sports) and action, adventure, horror and racing sims (racing games that aren't just Mario Kart and kart racing). Sony (in my opinion) doesn't have a ton of platform games anymore and very little party and seems to focus on more M-rated titles, not really making it kid-friendly. The kid-friendly titles need to be out on all three machines, giving parents the options too to see that the machines are good for everyone, and not just one group of individuals. I'm a parent, my kids play the PS4, but I don't like not having much that they can play except for the same old Skylanders, Infinity, Just Dance and a few others...and again, I hated the Wii U, they have no interest in the Wii so I sold it and have no regrets, sold the 360 for various reasons, have enough games on PS3, but the system is starting to slowly fade into slowness and problems galore (constant freezing for no reason). Anyways, yeah, sorry this comment is long and I guess I went off track, but I hear you in every way!!!!

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@themcnoisy Super Monkey Ball was just great fun no matter what. It's actually been since VITA that a new one was made (I believe Vita's came out after the 3DS). Hopefully sega renews them, but not just keep them to just one console. A New Monkey Ball with plenty of mini games on all of the systems...including PC and MAC would be nice.

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@kimpod1 I own Celebrity Deathmatch. Another good one was the Ready To Rumble Boxing ones and Clay Fighters. There's a lot of games I'd like to see come back (boogeyman, Earthworm Jim, Aero The Acrobat, James Pond, Goemon, Chuck Rock, Cool Spot, Goonies 2, Bayou Billy, Rocket, Gex, Chameleon Twist and more). PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Genesis, Dreamcast, Super NES, NES and even Gameboy had many great titles that seemed to have been forgotten about, and this is something that all of those companies should try to bring back to the newer games on the scene, granted that some of those companies that made those games have gone out of business, but still, those companies could help and gain a little profit from them.

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

@kimpod1 I know, but my PS3 took a plunge, and I don't feel like re-buying the console and going through the whole download everything days again...plus, I'd also have to re-buy a new Hard Drive for it too. Loved my PS3 to death I guess is what I should have said...got too much usage. But, would love to see them get re-released for the PS4, as it seems almost everything else is!!!

Re: Review: The Disney Afternoon Collection (PS4)

JLPick

@ThePathsofPain Would also be nice to get Aladdin and World Of Illusion and Mickey Mania too. The Disney games on the NES, Genesis and Super NES were the best...after that, they seemed to fall downhill. The Platform genre needs a new lift in the right direction, without the usage of the 3D world-type ones (granted it works for some, but not all).

Re: Review: The Disney Afternoon Collection (PS4)

JLPick

Grew up with these games, with great memories of my brother and I playing them (yup, I'm old). Remember I could never find Ducktales 2 And Chip And Dale 2 on the NES, so will be nice to be finally able to play them. I agree with what others said, as it's weird that these never made it to the nintendo Wii or Wii U or even the 3DS or Switch, but it's a nice addition for the console that I actually play and enjoy PS4. Also, it's a great price! Now, can we get some of the older classics to come to PS4 in some bundles (castlevania, Low G Man, Bayou Billy, Nightmare On Elm Street, Goonies 2 and more). Also, does anyone know if there will be a vol 3 or vol 4 to the Atari Classic Collections???

Re: Sony to Shut Kill Strain Servers Less Than a Year After Launch

JLPick

@nhSnork One reason I always own nintendo consoles, but still though, hate the fact that local play seems to end anymore. Looking into the switch, but after really hating the Wii U and not really caring too much for the Wii (Gamecube, N64 and the original NES were my favorite nintendo consoles), I'm still not sold on it, but it's in my list as soon as Mario Odyssey arrives. Other than that, just wish that more games offer local, and I really hope that the companies start seeing that they need to give options for it...kind of sticks when you have trophies to go for in a game that require you to go online, and you can't. I use to love playing Hot Shots Golf Out Of Bounds online for some reason, but even some of the newer games that have online features, tend to keep you waiting to even find anyone. One game that I play online from PS4, is Gems of War, and I honestly hope it doesn't go offline for quite some time!

Re: Sony to Shut Kill Strain Servers Less Than a Year After Launch

JLPick

Well, everyone should know that this will happen to any game that has online features...eventually servers will be shut down. This is also one reason why I never invest in anything that is 'online only' and never purchase any DLC for the 'free' online only titles. The one thing I do hate with these new generations, is most games do not offer multiplayer without playing against people online...what ever happened to inviting a few friends over and playing a game together side by side...instead, it's all online...there should be options there.

Re: Sony to Shut Kill Strain Servers Less Than a Year After Launch

JLPick

@get2sammyb It was enjoyable for a good amount of time, but there also wasn't a lot of bowling games for the PS3, so I think that was another reason for it. Was fun, have it downloaded and actually paid for all of the DLC for it too. The characters were humorous, but there's always one game I come back to and wish they would make a new one for PS4...PAIN!!!!!

Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4

JLPick

My list: Grandia 2-xtreme
Wild Arms 3-4
Maximo: ghosts To Glory
Vexx
Evil Dead Fistful Of Broomstick/Regeneration
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance
spy-ro the Dragon 4-5
Viewtiful Joe
Rygar
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and Super Monkey Ball Adventure
Ico
Fatal Frame trilogy
Devil May Cry trilogy
Ratchet And Clank (all of them, including Secret Agent Clank)
The X-Files resist Or Serve (sorry, big X-Files fan)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy
the Buzz titles including the Jr's
Whiplash
Hot Shots Golf 3 and Fore
Shadow hearts 1 and 2
ATV Offroad Fury trilogy
Adventures Of Cookie And Cream
Tokobot Plus
Silent Hill 2-4
Thrillville 1-2
Theme Park Rollercoaster
24 The Game (kiefer Sutherland fan here)
many of the platform adventure titles, due to being some of my favorite genres
The Bible Game (really fun party game)

There's many others I can think of, some of which I own on PS2 as they are...there's also thought that I'd like to see PS3 titles released on the store too to buy and download (Dante's Inferno for one), especially since they're becoming hard to find and my PS3 is starting to slowly go down hill. Would also like to see them add PS1 titles too.

Re: Guide: PS4 Games Release Dates 2017

JLPick

@Flaming_Kaiser What's even worse, is there's a ton on the download side too. I don't get where people come from by saying there's nothing there to play...for some reason, no one said that about nintendo with the Wii U (and there technically wasn't much on there to play)

Re: Guide: PS4 Games Release Dates 2017

JLPick

Okay, already have enough games in my backlog...getting Disney Afternoon Collection this coming tuesday, still many other games I'd like to get (Horizon, Last Guardian, Uncharted 4 and quite a few others)...hmm...now I see many more on the list coming too, but I was really hoping that Hot Shots Golf would be released this summer, but they may hold off on giving an official release date during E3 for that one and many others. Honestly though, that's a lot of games coming!!! Does anyone know if Birthdays The Beginning is a VR ONLY title, or can you play it without the VR...game looks incredibly fun, but I won't be able to play it (or my wife, who also thinks it looks fun), since I don't have the VR.

Re: Poll: Should Sony Be Looking to Add Refunds to PSN?

JLPick

I think there would be some that would abuse it, just like the Firewatch part to the statements. However, I've bought a couple that I hated after just a few minutes...Surgeon Simulator was my biggest regrets...but there are some that got me coming back to eventually. It would be a nice addition, but then Sony would get the backlog of people stating that 'they are copying Microsoft'. It's a win lose battle, and it would be nice, even if (let's say you went past the 2 hour mark) to even give a discount to (basically like a trade in) selling it back with a few dollars less.

Re: Review: Drawn to Death (PS4)

JLPick

@get2sammyb I'll try it again, just still playing Stardew Valley to death and for some reason...Gems Of War...just too much in my backlog and I still want to purchase Last Guardian and Horizon...then get ready for Hot Shots Golf, Crash Trilogy and Sonic...then find out Disney Afternoon Collection is coming, scratch my head for a while and laugh at how much is coming out. It's not a bad game though, reminds me of Mad World on the Wii with the art style and Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 for the shooter arena. The best thing would be to add Conker (even though it would never happen)...fighting a teddy bear like in Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Re: Review: Drawn to Death (PS4)

JLPick

@get2sammyb The male character that they first give you...I have yet to figure out half of the other things in the game (like switching characters, adding the pretty cool signs with movements above players heads, and why enemies kill me when they're not even around me). Other than that, will try it again, just end up muting the TV due to the kids being around.

Re: Reaction: Will Sony Be Scared of the Xbox Scorpio?

JLPick

I don't think Sony has to worry...they're already beating Microsoft this generation, and I doubt anyone (including the ones that already own an XBONE), want to pay more money for another system...especially when games haven't really been shown for it. I loved the original X-box, but it was for the Dreamcast titles that came over to it (Toe Jam And Earl 3) and some of Microsofts exclusives that I actually liked (Tork, Voodoo Vince, Blinx), but sadly, they didn't come over to the 360...then I look at XBONE, and still...I only found (if I actually did buy it), that if I don't get kinect with it, there's only a few games I'd get for it. I guess, If I didn't own a PS4, it would be fine, but there's just so much more on PS4, and with nintendo's newest console out (and doing pretty good at the moment), and with nintendo going into E3 to showcase hopefully more for it, I think nintendo will be the second console for people...so 'NO'...sony has nothing to worry about, at least to me, my wife and kids...we're Sony and Nintendo fans.

Re: Review: Drawn to Death (PS4)

JLPick

I honestly thought the game was horrible, and that's after playing the tutorial and some online matches...enemies were shooting at me and actually getting me from behind, but they were in front...bullets going through cover spots...just seemed like it could have spent a few more days or months through testing, because there are some bugs in it...other than that, the constant potty-humor got old after a few minutes, and it repeated itself too much with gameplay...guess I'll try a little more later, but I found other games that kept my attention longer.

Re: Hands On: Dragon Quest Heroes II Is Shaping Up to Be Another Great Action RPG on PS4

JLPick

I'll have to play the demo. Loved the first one on PS4, and still wish the original Dragon Warrior game will be re-released, as I don't have an NES that works anymore. Up until then, I'm still curious about Dragon Quest Builders, but since I absolutely can't stand Minecraft (except I loved the Minecraft Story Mode game), but like Terraria, and I've heard that Dragon Quest Builders is like Minecraft, it's a waiting game to see if it's worth it for me.

Re: Naughty Dog's Four Jak & Daxter Titles Are Coming to PS4

JLPick

@JoeBlogs Fully agree with them looking good on VITA, even PSP they looked good on. The Sega Genesis doesn't look too bad on a 4K television, the only system I own that I have to play it on my old tv from the 80's, is the Atari...the atari looks horrible on HD TV's, and I didn't even try on a 4K. Still though, would be nice to see them, or even see some of the classics get reboots like Crash is getting...I'd love to replay Parasite Eve, Wild Arms (or at least a new Wild Arms title), Grandia, Silent Hill, Legacy Of Kains (why are we not getting a collection yet) and some of the other classics. At least some of the PSP titles are making their way over...can't wait to replay Loco Roco, as I sadly got rid of my PSP in the past and regret it now.

Re: Naughty Dog's Four Jak & Daxter Titles Are Coming to PS4

JLPick

@JoeBlogs I agree with you on that...ps1 did not age gracefully as what some of the other consoles did, however, it's still nice re-playing some of them on the PS3 at the time being. I guess I'm not too much caring about trophies or the HD treatment of them, just surprised that they didn't push them over onto the storefront yet...since they have them on PS3 at least.

Re: Naughty Dog's Four Jak & Daxter Titles Are Coming to PS4

JLPick

@Carl-G I've been wondering too on why PS1 games haven't come over to the system yet. However, since PS3 is still around (and PS1 titles are on that, plus, you can play PS1 discs on the PS3), maybe they're just waiting for the PS3 era to end completely, or maybe they have surprises later on.

Re: Naughty Dog's Four Jak & Daxter Titles Are Coming to PS4

JLPick

Are these bundled together into one glorious retail disc, or are they just coming to the 'store-download' side? Would love to have a nice case with a disc that contains all four of them, and I don't want to go download crazy on the store, in case Sony decides to make a bunch of discs with their games on it (nice collections).
