Apparently, Sony recently ran an "internal competition" regarding Ghost of Tsushima. As @Birdman_Drew -- game designer at Horizon developer Guerrilla Games -- explains, the first 50 employees to obtain the the title's Platinum Trophy were rewarded with a nice little prize.
Arriving in a seriously neat wooden box, the top 50 Platinum hunters got a lovely looking replica sword guard for their trouble. It's based on the default design of Jin's blade in Ghost of Tsushima, complete with stormy clouds and lightning bolts.
Pretty cool, huh? We wonder how many of these internal competitions Sony has...

That is very cool! Nice of them to do that for their employees.
Thats a shame i platinum it last night been abit lazy with not playing it much recently if I knew I would have done it ages ago.
@hoffa007 it was a competition between Sony studio's only so don't worry.
Probably the easiest platinum I've got, I can't think of anything that was even remotely challenging to do
Man, I wish I could've taken part in that competition. That thing looks glorious! awesome.
@carlos82 it wasn’t challenging, but it did require playing through the game and actually exploring. Nothing worse than games that put in multiple play through requirements in my opinion.
I personally think you should always be able to platinum a game if you’ve played through it once and explored the entire map.
@jdv95 true misread the article.
Too bad they didn't hand out actual swords.
@MarcG420 yeah I definitely don't want multiple playthroughs but this was just a little too basic I felt
@Octane "A sword guard? But I don't even have a sword!"
@ShogunRok ''Do you guys not have swords?''
Do you know how BS that would be if it wasn't for the people in the studio? Journalists would always have a headstart due to early copies...
It's nice to know Sony does this for it's employees. They should tell the public about it and post employees names on PlayStation blog.
A free Vag in a box? Noice.
Neat little gift for the employees, I wouldn’t mind one of those myself. As far as the whole ‘platinum’ thing goes, out of the 80 or so ps4 games and uncountable numbers of 3, 2 & 1’s... (I don’t know when trophies became a thing), this is the first game I did 100% on. Sure, it was easy enough, but wow was it fun. Visually stunning the story was top tier, even a bit emotional at times.
My only real gripe, too short. I spent the last month replaying Witcher 3 & and it’s respective DLCs and finally got all the happy endings... on my 3rd playthrough with the help of the interwebs. Only time I used for this game was trying to finish off trophies for silly things... yeah, talking to you Legendary Thief trophy.
I hope for more adventures with Jin Sakai... or... maybe a sequel on Tomoe, since she’s based off a real person with extraordinary achievements.
@Octane I can imagine:
Executive 1: I've ordered this prototype katana for the office competition, we'll give 50 of them away for completing the Platinum.
Executive 2: Nice, that's awesome. Wow, I actually want one of these too.
Health and Safety person: Just wait a minute, what are you doing with that sword? That'll have to be wrapped in 20 layers of towelling and you can't give it away, imagine what could happen in the office!
No, give me a look at that. You can give away the hand guard, but that's it.
Now I'm just going to wrap this in the towelling (as they suspiciously whistle away with the katana).
Executive 1 and 2: Damn.
Hmmm. I like my Sekiro letter opener more than that.
I know this isn't about the employs but check this lol. Look at some of times and dates people got platinum trophy on the link below. And some of those names are regulars in getting platinum trophies too. No idea how these guys get the game so early and yet you never heard of em.

@Nepp67 Yeah check my previous comment lol
try platinumning nms...the tutorial takes frikking weeks..let alone the game..ps ive done it 4 times now i think
Nice, was wondering what the prize looked like, my friend who got 11th place told me about this
He told me he only got about 8 hours sleep that first weekend it came out lol
I'm lucky to just finish a game let alone platinum it.
@Grimwood
I would argue that the cynical Internet user with clear insecurities questioning the activities of others wastes more of their life. If it bothers you that much, perhaps you should seek out a new hobby.
Time spent enjoying yourself is not time wasted.
@Grimwood Are you lost?
Would this include those that worked on the game? Surely that'd be an unfair advantage
@MarcG420 Could not agree more! Wish more devs would take note. I really enjoyed getting platinum in HZD and JC3 (my only ones so far) because they didn’t require extra play throughs.
I like the way HZD did it, offering extra trophies for people who want to do the whole New Game + experience as a separate experience from the 1st complete, platinum run.
@Grimwood They work for Sony. I think they're all doing fine.
For once being a trophy hunter pays off, it's a shame it's only for Devs though, would platinum that game fast for sure!
@tinCAT-zero these days I'm not so lucky don't have as much time as I used to 😐
All I need to do is try and convince 1 of 50 people to sell it to me.
@huyi
The joys of getting older 😏
im 2 trophies away from having a platinum trophy!
