As part of its Play at Home initiative, Sony has made Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey available for free on the PlayStation Store until 5th May. Of course, many of you may already have claimed these games as part of previous PlayStation Plus promotions, but you should still redeem them and we’re going to explain why in this article.
Whenever you “purchase” a PS Plus game, it’s yours to own as long as you remain a member. Extending your subscription will also extend your license, but you will lose access to the software should you ever decide to quit the service. In the case of the abovementioned titles, however, you can override this and own the games forever by simply adding them to your basket again.
We’ve tested this for ourselves and can confirm that we now own both games outright. They were previously tied to the duration of our PS Plus subscription, as we’d claimed them both through the service in the past. Hopefully this is an indication that Sony intends to fix an age-old problem with the PS Store, as previously it was impossible to purchase titles already obtained through subscriptions.

I was wondering if I could redeem the free copies and release them of their PS Plus shackles in my digital library.
You're welcome.
''and we’re going to explain why in this article.''
I'm sorry Sammy, I laughed way too hard at this. I expected a full on essay on the benefits, then I scrolled down.
@Octane
Yes they actually made it so you could add to your library when you are still a plus member, they are on the main page of the store and I added them and checked purchased under library and they are there. I wasn't sure if the store would sort that issue out but Sony did which is great
I wonder if sony will do another one again.that will be cool.word up son
I got a physical copy of Nathan Drake Collection when I got a PS4.
I claimed the digital version anyways as that means I no longer have to worry about removing [current game of the month] from my disc drive if I ever get the itch to play the Collection.
Good guy Sony
I’ll probably get Journey.
Don't forget you can also claim Knack 2 if you decide to register a German account.
I was able to this with the Uncharted Collection, but not Journey.
A pair of great games for nothing, yes please.
How? For me it just says “download”.
@Topov81 yeah same for me, journey is already "purchased" and only has option to download to ps4 no way to add it.
Are these games not just for download and play between the dates only? Then it’ll go back to being installed on your system and you’ll have an option to buy them?
That’s the way I had viewed it. So if you haven’t completed the games by the end date then basically you’d have to buy them outright after the end date.
@iceno1 They're yours to keep permanently.
I could be wrong here but I think previously it was only impossible to purchase a game previously redeemed through PS+ only if your sub was active. If your subscription was inactive you could purchase a game regularly and then whenever you resubscribed to PS+, said game would no longer have the expiration date as you now truly owned it.
Can someone please explain this to me? How does simply adding them to your basket mean that you suddenly own them outright? I also don't even have an option to add them to my basket - "Download" is the only option.
