Gang of Dragon PS5

Gang of Dragon, the new PS5 game from Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi, has been in troubled waters for a couple of weeks now, following publisher NetEase's decision to pull its funding. The cheques will apparently stop being written in May, leading to uncertainty around whether the game will ever release.

Now, there's evidence to believe Nagoshi Studio may not have secured funding to continue development.

It has been noticed today the developer's YouTube channel has been taken offline. Its official website and social media platforms remain, but attempting to reach its video platform returns the message: "This channel does not exist." It's by no means confirmation the studio is going under and the game is cancelled, but it's not exactly a promising update.

Last month, it was reported by Bloomberg that NetEase had made the decision to stop funding Gang of Dragon. The game was only revealed at the end of last year, but reports claim another Β₯7 billion (~$44 million) is needed to finish development. This was apparently one reason why NetEase has decided to walk away from the project.

This is the first update and sign of life β€” or, rather, a lack of it β€” since then, leading to concern the game will never make it to release.

"Shin Ji-seong β€” portrayed by renowned Asian actor Ma Dong-seok β€” is a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate based in Kabukicho. As he explores the streets of Shinjuku, Shin becomes entangled in underworld conflicts and forges intense, human connections that push him to confront his own sense of purpose," is how the promising title was pitched upon its unveiling.
