007 First Light arrived on PS5 last week, bringing some much needed Bond-ing to the current console generation.
From the developers behind the modern Hitman games, this new take on the English spy certainly shares similarities with Agent 47's recent outings, incorporating a mix of gunplay, close quarters combat, stealth, and subterfuge.
But First Light is also a much more linear action-adventure, built along a surprisingly expansive storyline that sees Bond trot around the globe in classic franchise fashion.

There's undoubtedly a bit of Uncharted to the whole thing as well thanks to a range of explosive setpieces and cover-based encounters.
Reviewers loved it, ensuring its place near the top of the pile when it comes to the highest rated titles of 2026 so far. In fact, a number of publications have already propped it up as a genuine Game of the Year contender.
Our own reviewer, the ever intrepid Stephen, said it was "more or less exactly what I was hoping for".
In his 007 First Light PS5 review, he gave it a 'great' 8/10, concluding: "It really shines in its sandbox missions, but it weaves these together with its more linear moments in a seamless, cinematic way."
