@Gravity_Bear If we use Rare again as an example, Nintendo owned the Donkey Kong IP, not Rare, but Rare was given DKC to develop.

Rare then made some original IPs like Jet Force Gemini and Banjo Kazooie exclusively for N64, but when Microsoft acquired Rare, Rare took their original IPs with them. Nintendo couldn't do anything about it. That's why I still classified Rare as a third-party Studio. Rare may have insisted any new IPs they make, they get to retain. Since they controlled 51% ownership, that would have helped their negotiations.

It's all so confusing, but for years I've found the term "Second party developer" silly and misleading.

"Second party" is such a misnomer. Housemarque is a third party studio at the end of the day. They've never exclusively developed for Sony, nor are they owned by them.

Same as with Rare, they were third party. While they developed pretty much exclusively for Nintendo at one time, Nintendo only owned 49% of the studio, not a majority.

Factor 5, largely with Nintendo and PC for many years, were always third party.

The system is barely six months old and people are acting like every single PS5 game for the entire lifespan will be on PS4 as well. I see nothing different during this transition. Typical gaming writers across the industry being hyperbolic over very little. Besides, it's a smarter business move to make these earlier titles cross gen.

Between increased game prices and lack of future announcements, Sony needs to show something cause I couldn't be less excited for PS5 right now, and I've had mine since launch.

Proof yet again to never lock one's self into a digital-only console. That extra $100 is worth the total freedom of going for either dirt cheap discs or digital sales. Win-win. 😎

PS3 had the best iteration of the store, Before it was updated into the slow, clunky, laggy mess it became in 2011-2012, I believe? Also, it's embarrassing PS4 never had a wishlist option. At least PS5 does. The sorting and filtering has always been poor. Many products don't even show up where one would expect them too. It's like no one on staff did any proofreading and checking.

Sony does devalue their games very quickly, which doesn't help. I got LOU2 a few months later for 50% off. These days with s-t wages, rising costs of living, $10 added to new game prices, and a personal backlog already a mile long, I'm not buying a whole lot at full price anymore.

@TrueAssassin86x You can't be serious. The Switch was always marketed at Adults. That stereotype hasn't been true since the SNES days. PS are the ones who restrict stuff way more than Nintendo does these days.

@Flaming_Kaiser They're only "complete" until the developer decides to add more content. Streets of Rage 4 being a perfect example. Untitled Goose Game, which wasn't LRG, had the same issue with its co-op mode. Don't fall for the marketing hype, it's never guaranteed.
