Re: PS5 Finally Starts Shifting Software in Japan on Back of Stock Rebound

EVIL-C

@zebric21 LOL, all platforms are my platforms. Playing Metroid Dread on Switch, GoldenEye on Xbox and Metro Exodus on PS5. I'm not a fanboy. 😉

Also, last I checked, Xbox has plenty of so-called "AAA" titles. I don't know what sadder, your ignorance or that you still use that antiquated, subjective, meaningless descriptor. 😂

Re: Sony Must Share Details of Exclusivity Deals with Microsoft in FTC's Court Hearing

EVIL-C

I've been dying to see for years the money Sony has paid for exclusive games and other content deals. Remember Soul Caliber 3 being a PS2 exclusive, despite 2 selling best on Gamecube?

Then there's the COD exclusive stuff.

Edit: Street Fighter 5, same deal. Randomly (console) exclusive for seemingly no reason.

FF16 being exclusive has been incredibly suspect since day 1, as well as Silent Hill 2's ambiguous situation at the moment.

Sony has a lot of secrets to answer for. They have a stellar track record of seemingly trying to buy exclusive content. Pushsquare, its hyper-partisan cringworthy staff, and the vocal hardcore base here say nothing, yet when M$ does it, suddenly it's evil, terrible and wrong? GMAFB. And keep in mind, I generally dislike massive corporate takeovers, but if its going to happen, at least apply a consistent ideological position, regardless of who's acting suspect.

Re: PS5 Sales Increased 202% in Europe Year-over-Year, Xbox and Nintendo Switch Both Down

EVIL-C

@Green-Bandit Haha, thanks again for that, Bandit. I saw your previous message at me a couple weeks ago touching on a somewhat similarly-related topic. XD
I'm sure Starfield will do well, but as it's a 1st party release, it is listed as a GP title. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about how GP is effecting sales of certain games. I admit I recently used GP to complete both Plague Tale Requiem and As Dusk Falls (both excellent games, btw) during my 1-month sub.
It's perfectly fair to report on the facts as they are, although why the Eff PushSquare is reporting this Xbox story, as it has nothing to do with Sony at all, really reeks of pettiness and insecurity on both PS's staff part, and on the part of a large chunk of the PS users here (which as you say, the majority likely don't even own an Xbox, yet crap on it constantly). GP is excellent for the end user, so for however long it lasts, I'm going to say to everyone; enjoy it. i've got plenty of my own criticisms of Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo/Switch, but as I too own all 3, and all 3 give me different things I enjoy, I want all 3 brands to perform well. I also like seeing some type of uniqueness between them as well, which is becoming more of a rarity with each new generation. Xbox has GP/Bethesda, Sony has TLoU, Marvel and deep connections to Japanese studios, and Nintendo has their incredible IP catalogue like Zelda and Metroid plus their innovative hardware designs. There's enough there from all 3 for one to appreciate their strengths, rather than only focusing on their negatives and take the "I dont own it so I have to bash it" tribalism mentality.

Re: Sony's MLB The Show 23 Costs $70 on PS5, Nothing on Xbox Game Pass

EVIL-C

@Green-Bandit I was a horrible fanboy during the GC/PS2/Xbox days (I was also a stupid teenager at the time XD), so seeing how absolutely nothing has changed amongst fans, whereas company executives themselves have (mostly) nothing but positive things to say to their rivals when a new 1st party release does really well for example, it saddens me much of that hasn't brushed off on the community of players.
I too have both systems, a Switch and a gaming laptop, but even if i didn't, hating on rival system titles or services is beyond ridiculous and irrational. The psychology behind it baffles me.

Re: Sony's MLB The Show 23 Costs $70 on PS5, Nothing on Xbox Game Pass

EVIL-C

@Fight_Teza_Fight Those are some interesting (and not that surprising) figures. Thanks for posting those. Yeah definitely the Netflix analogy is a fair comparison (Netflix themselves have their own issues), I was thinking that but didn't mention it in my previous reply, lol. 2023 is looking better, which will be interesting to see if it raises the hardware revenue, which was down despite robust sales.

Re: Sony's MLB The Show 23 Costs $70 on PS5, Nothing on Xbox Game Pass

EVIL-C

@Imani You do realize that the tech sector has had layoffs across the board recently, right? Amazon, Google, Meta, Shopify, hell even PlayStation laid off 90 people last year. https://www.gameinformer.com/2022/04/04/playstation-reportedly-lays-off-nearly-90-employees-in-north-american-offices-due-to

The sensible (non-fanboy) among us, we get it, it's pushsquare. Xbox bad cause Xbox bad. Great analysis... >_>

Re: Sony's MLB The Show 23 Costs $70 on PS5, Nothing on Xbox Game Pass

EVIL-C

@Fight_Teza_Fight

Again, as Gamepass (and Sony's clone service) is still a *relatively new business model, we can't say definitively what the numbers are, as that data is AFAIK all internal.

"MS can get away with deals like this because the exposure of these games enhances sales on other platforms." Hmm, I'd need some data on that claim. Fanboys aside, as they don't care what Microsoft is doing or offering on GP, I guess you're suggesting word of mouth and other social media exposure from others using GP will raise awareness? That's certainly possible, as there's a lot of popular streamers out there.

There's still plenty of ways this industry makes money, commonly through DLC, service games and tons of other cosmetic trinkets and crap like that. I think I made it quite clear that there's questionable aspects of these subscription models, and I always prefer to buy something outright, but there is room for both models to co-exist.

As an aside, the various fanboys around here in the comments really need to lighten up a bit, jeez..

Re: Sony's MLB The Show 23 Costs $70 on PS5, Nothing on Xbox Game Pass

EVIL-C

@Fight_Teza_Fight

That 80% is for physical sales. We don't know what the digital numbers are yet. Plus I believe that's only for the UK?

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/dead-space-is-no1-but-launch-sales-lower-than-the-callisto-protocol-uk-boxed-charts

Also, it remains to be seen how "sustainable" gamepass is. While I prefer to buy things outright and I don't want a total takeover of rental programs, I was able to complete Plague Tale Requiem and As Dusk Falls with my recent 1-month sub, so it's a great feature of Xbox.

Re: Dead Space Remake to Feature Alternate Ending, Pre-Load Times Revealed

EVIL-C

@RainbowGazelle I don't so much mind remakes. There's plenty that are genuinely new to me and others on one hand, and the other is I like seeing what new technology can bring to old classics that I've enjoyed. It does wonders for some games, like Resident Evil or Shadow of the Colossus.

Remasters are more hit and miss. They're cheaper, so publishers like that.

Ultimately, I think there needs to be the right balance.

Re: French Trade Union Calls on Ubisoft Paris Workers to Strike Following CEO's Comments

EVIL-C

@InternetUser Shows how little you know of the issue. Specifics can vary wildy, but 4 day work weeks can comprise the same hours as 5 in many cases.
Of course, the idea of a 40-hour work week is a myth to millions of people anyway, which is just more telltale signs of why society is working itself to death and is poorer than previous generations to show for it.

Ubisoft is a trash company and their management is abhorrently terrible, this isn't news to anyone who's paid attention for the past 5 years. I'd love to see the workers boot out the crap management and actually save the company. I stand with workers, like myself.

Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo

EVIL-C

@Fenbops I have zero interest in even looking into the demo of Forspoken, as Square games are usually "blah" to me, but whenever the "W word" is tossed around without a second thought, that person should immediately be ignored as a non-serious, right wing buzzword-obsessed clown.

Re: PlayStation's Jim Ryan Named Among 500 Most Influential Global Media Business Leaders

EVIL-C

Unbelievable. Ryan should be fired. Blind fanboys will gush over Ryan, combined with blind brand loyalty to Sony being impenetrable, but taking a more objective analysis to what all the competition offers, and their messaging, Ryan is the worst, most disconnected, out of touch figurehead of the bunch.
Sony has the 1st party exclusives and the 3rd party deals to keep people coming back, despite their many other downsides. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Days Gone Director Blames Woke Reviewers, Programmers for Critical Reception

EVIL-C

@KaijuKaiser Seems I touched a nerve, lol. I project nothing. I have no hidden agenda. I don't hide my dislike of the far-right, of nationalists, of pointless culture war garbage arguments, of neo-nazis, etc... for examples, at all. I appreciate introspection, self-analysis and accountability from everyone, regardless of position. That includes myself.
Until those aforementioned stop using worn out buzzwords like "woke" 10K times per day to (ignorantly) describe everything they don't like, there is no valid counter. It just shows ones brain is a lazy, drunken mush of culture war garbage.

Like I said, no introspection. Examine recent US election results, examine general sentiment in the US political system, including last night in Georgia, and understand why they are so unpopular. "Woke bad, woke bad, I'm the real victim! Wwaaaahhhhhhh! " is not only idiotic and weak, but completely meaningless and unpopular.

As for the so-called professional reviewers, I couldn't care less what they think. The game never looked appealing to me, despite the horde-fighting mechanics being somewhat enjoyable, from what I read. My motto is and always has been play/read/watch/consume what you enjoy. If one needs the approval of others to do that, then I have no clue what to say there. O_o

These people just made a mediocre game, and they refuse to take responsibility. That's weak.
