Re: Will GTA 6 Be Delayed Again? CEO Plays It Safe with His Answer

Its a very polarised poll. No option for Don't know / it will launch when it is ready.

As much as I hope the date sticks, I also want to jump into a Vice City which doesn't feel rushed and unfinished and full of bugs. I'm happy to wait, and until then I will keep on griefing in GTA V, and keep getting griefed by better players than I am, even after Ive been playing it for 11 years 😂

Re: GTA 6 Might Require Age Verification, as GTA Online Checks Leak

They are under the obligation of the law where they operate. For GTA and Rockstar it will likely be Rockstar Games UK Limited who manage the age verification in the UK, which will require full compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, which is the UK's implementation of GDPR. If compliance is not met in full, they face massive fines and penalties.
The issue is that if it is all managed in a country where data protection laws are different, who knows what happens to your data, say USA and Rockstar Games Inc, then they would have to comply with the Privacy Act 1974, HIPAA, COPPA, and other state laws.
Like I said, the devil will bein the detail, and it will be worth taking time to read privacy policies for the verification process.

It is the fault of certain governments that this is happening, and they are leaving it to companies to implement. This raises serious privacy issues if you have to start sending every company your ID, there is a real danger of hacking and data breaches. Its not if, but when. If its a case of once verified your ID is deleted and never stored, then thats ok. If they keep it on file, and/or share/sell your info that is a big red flag. the devil will be in the detail.

Its a massive overreach by the government, for something that should be a parenting decision. But here we are.

If they only implement age verification where your IP is in an affected country, then my VPN at router level will be set to a country where it is not implemented.
I dont see any other way round it. Even then, they could block VPN access if detected.

Unfortunately I think it will be ID verification or no play.
I do think they will delete ID once verified 🤞 as data protection/gdpr requires companies to only keep data as long as its needed, which for verification is only a brief amount of time.
