Re: Poll: Did You Buy Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection?

@Styledvinny79

I already bought it…and why wouldn’t I for only $10?

I’m curious to try out that 120fps mode personally.

But again, it’s not just frame rate, resolution and load times. On top of those things,

“Increase in LOD distance and less pop-in. The brightness and contrast have been changed and the game looks punchier. Some textures are better too. There are differences in reflections and shading too. Some changes to the motion blur. Improved shadows as well”

If you can’t notice a difference that’s fine, but I don’t think Digital Foundry are making that up.

Like I said, I don’t really know what your expectations are for a remaster. Is it honestly supposed to be a system seller?

I would say go play Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart or Returnal if you want to play an impressive PS5 game.

@Styledvinny79

I just wanted to clear this up,

“Absolutely no difference other than frame rate”

There’s quite a few differences other than frame rate for this remaster.

I have no interest in whether or not you think the PS5 is a worthy purchase.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but I purposely did not bring up any other part of your comment because that’s your subjective opinion, and that’s fine. But saying the remaster is more barebones than it really is, is not correct according to Digital Foundry.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection?

@Styledvinny79 That’s actually not true according to Digital Foundry’s analysis.

A paraphrase of DF’s analysis video courtesy of Arioco from Neogaf,

There are some improvements to the visuals apart from resolution. Increase in LOD distance and less pop-in. The brightness and contrast have been changed and the game looks punchier. Some textures are better too. There are differences in reflections and shading too. Some changes to the motion blur. Improved shadows as well.

This is what John Linneman said regarding it on Twitter:

“I'm a little surprised that the pre-release media didn't mention any of the visual improvements, to be honest. I wasn't even sure there would be any changes at all until I tested it.”

The load time is also drastically reduced from almost 50 seconds to about 2.

It’s a remaster, so I’m not sure what you’re expecting other than that really. But it’s definitely not just a framerate increase.

Re: Poll: What's the Best Uncharted Game?

DeepSpace5D

@Uncharted2007 I don’t really see what’s lazy about it. I mean it has 10 different stages of coop and I like the map layouts of alot of them.

It might have come 7 months later but it has been there now for 5+ years. I just got 100% trophy completion on Uncharted 4 multiplayer last December and it’s very fun and challenging on Crushing difficulty with a good team.

Re: God of War PC Closes on 60,000 Concurrent Players on Steam

DeepSpace5D

Almost a peak of 67k concurrent players on Steam now is very impressive for a 4-year old game.

To put it in perspective, Forza Horizon 5 had a ton of hype behind it last year, was a brand new game, and features online play and reached a peak of 80k concurrent on Steam.

Congrats to God of War on the PC success and this is going to drum up even more interest in Ragnarok.

@Bleachedsmiles

Of course the PS5 wasn’t sold on features alone, I certainly didn’t argue that it was. But the quote that you and many try to use as a “gotcha” moment, the one about generations, is not talking about PS5-only games.

We can go into another discussion about the PS5 only content so far for the first year if you like, I have had a great time personally with Astro’s Playroom, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Demon’s Souls, and Returnal. None of which can be played on PS4.

But that “generations” quote is being completely misrepresented by you if you are trying to use it as Jim Ryan referring to crossgen games. Use the whole quote and you see he’s not talking about that at all.

Re: Guerrilla Shares PS4 Screenshots of Horizon Forbidden West

@Bleachedsmiles

The point was you and many others have misrepresented that quote as if it was referring only to games being available on PS5 and not on PS4, when the actual quote is not about that. It’s about features the PS5 offers that are not available on the PS4 that adds to the overall immersion while gaming, such as the dualsense, 3d audio, and SSD.

Re: Guerrilla Shares PS4 Screenshots of Horizon Forbidden West

@Bleachedsmiles

One of the most misquoted lines of all time. Here’s the full quote if you’re actually interested in it:

“ We have always said that we believe in generations. We believe that when you go to all the trouble of creating a next-gen console, that it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not include. And that, in our view, people should make games that can make the most of those features.

"We do believe in generations, and whether it's the DualSense controller, whether it's the 3D audio, whether it's the multiple ways that the SSD can be used... we are thinking that it is time to give the PlayStation community something new, something different, that can really only be enjoyed on PS5.”

Clear reference to the next-gen features of the PS5, the SSD/i/o, Dualsense implementation on games, 3D audio support, all features that the generational gap in consoles provides.

Re: Feature: PS5 Report Card - How Is It After One Year?

DeepSpace5D

It was a solid first year, I played and enjoyed nearly every first-party release: Demon’s Souls was incredible, Returnal is a game of the year contender, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was alot of fun, Astro’s Playroom is a real gem that can’t be slept on just because it came included.

2022 looks like the year where things really get kicked up a notch. It’s going to be a huge year if Gran Turismo 7, Horizon: Forbidden West, and God of War: Ragnarok all drop in the same year.
