If Ragnarok makes 2022 it will have been a phenomenal year for Sony with Horizon II, GT7, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection, TLoU remake, and Ragnarok all in the same year.

Not to mention other console exclusives like Sifu, Stray, and Forspoken.

Can’t wait to go through Grounded mode again for the remake. Desperation and tense encounters await.

The Callisto Protocol took the crown for me, only because I wasn’t expecting it to look so good.

I guess I already anticipated SFVI and FFXVI to impress.

@pyrrhic_victory I believe that was Jim Ryan’s stance on first-party games, which Stray is not.

The animations look so fluid! Genuinely impressed here with what they’re doing.

Oh yeah, this is a day one type of game for me. I love alien horror and the production values look insane.

I’m actually surprised with how good it was. There were alot less VR titles than I thought.

RE4 remake, Village VR, and SF VI from Capcom all look great.

Stray is as charming as ever, nice to get a release date.

FFXVI looks really good! I’m impressed with far its come along since its debut.

Spiderman is a nice get for PC players.

But imo The Callisto Protocol stole the show! Holy crap did that look good. A true successor to Dead Space. Some of those alien designs were beautifully grotesque. This game has shot up my most anticipated list now, and it’s out this year!

I’m expecting third-party and PSVR 2, just like was told.

Anything else will be a welcome bonus if it shows up.

Please have trophy support for Abe’s Odyssey. That would be amazing.

It’s not that I necessarily need them to play classics per se.

I would probably do a quick playthrough or spend a few hours on each title as a nostalgia trip even if they didn’t have trophies.

But I do think they need to have trophies if I’m going to be engaged with the Classics section longer than just an initial playthrough.

Without trophies I will probably sub to the Premium tier for only one month and get my fill of the classics. With trophies attached to the classics, I will likely keep the Premium tier subscription for longer periods of time.

This is just for me personally. I do like trophies and I hope they are added to alot of the classics.

That’s fair. I bought Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart at launch day and was pretty surprised with the amount of bugs I encountered for a first-party game. But it’s in a good state now.

I guess when you pump games out as quickly as Insomniac can, you get a bit of a pass on that.

Insomniac excel at productivity and they make really great games. I’d also say they are probably more diverse/versatile at this point than Naughty Dog.

But Naughty Dog is still unmatched in regard to attention to detail and level of polish among PlayStation studios.

I love remakes. The more the merrier.

Last one I played was Demon’s Souls and it was incredible.

Well deserved and a very big congratulations to Housemarque. I recently got the new trophies for the Ascension DLC and was reminded of why this game is so special.

More of a symbolic loss than an actual one.

Day 1 and this will be my first VR headset. Looks like it’s going to be the perfect compliment to the PS5.

Very happy about Slay the Spire. I’ve been wanting to try that one.

10/10! But I wish it had a bit more microtransactions in it.

Also, I would have liked it if it checked to make sure I was online after every activity completed instead of just at the start.

Sony must really like what they see to make an acquisition before the studios first game releases.

It’s usually a much longer courting process with multiple game releases first.

Yeah I had a feeling when they showed extended gameplay. The combat looked like it could get boring quickly and unfortunately that was the whole appeal of the game for me.

Might just check it out for a steep discount in the future.

It’s an amazing racing game, and I am continually impressed with it. The outage for over 24 hours sucked no doubt, but that is realistically a blip on the radar of a game that I will be playing for years.

Having a blast so far on the dualsense, but I really can’t wait to get my wheel!

Gran Turismo 7 - best racing game I’ve ever played. I’m going for the gold in all the license tests and having a ton of fun.

God of War - feel like I’m nearing the end with Midgard 80% complete of collectibles. Very rarely is a world this fun to explore.

@mrtennis1990 Cowboy Bebop is my favorite anime. It’s only one season long, well worth checking out.

Just GT7 for me. I was pretty underwhelmed by the in-depth gameplay coverage for Ghostwire: Tokyo.

This is an excellent summary of the first game. I thought it was one of the better sci-fi stories I’d come across in a long time. Can’t wait to play Forbidden West tomorrow!

The only player I’m sure it’s not is Microsoft, with their enormous ActiBlizz deal still pending scrutinization from the FTC.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Tencent or Embracer or one of those.

Jim Ryan said to expect more acquisitions, but I’m not sure if there will be another announced so closely with Bungie.

Horizon: Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 are essential PlayStation titles.

I’ll probably pick up Elden Ring shortly after release as well, after I’m done with Forbidden West.

Eh, the gameplay is not impressing me that much to be honest. Having just wrapped up the Demon’s Souls remake late last year, I’m getting some heavy been-there-done-that vibes. It looks like an open-world Demon’s Souls.

I’m sure it’s going to be great like all Fromsoft games, but it’s not grabbing me like previous entries have. The horse skipping in the air and able to jump off cliffs is pretty cool though.

I just have to ask, since I noticed your Yoshi avatar. How do you feel about Nintendo remasters that are just as or more barebones than this, but cost $60?

If a $10 remaster is such a money grab, I’d imagine those $60 Nintendo remasters have you absolutely fuming?

I’m curious to try out that 120fps mode personally.

But again, it’s not just frame rate, resolution and load times. On top of those things,

If you can’t notice a difference that’s fine, but I don’t think Digital Foundry are making that up.

I would say go play Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart or Returnal if you want to play an impressive PS5 game.

I have no interest in whether or not you think the PS5 is a worthy purchase.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but I purposely did not bring up any other part of your comment because that’s your subjective opinion, and that’s fine. But saying the remaster is more barebones than it really is, is not correct according to Digital Foundry.

A paraphrase of DF’s analysis video courtesy of Arioco from Neogaf,

There are some improvements to the visuals apart from resolution. Increase in LOD distance and less pop-in. The brightness and contrast have been changed and the game looks punchier. This is what John Linneman said regarding it on Twitter:

“I'm a little surprised that the pre-release media didn't mention any of the visual improvements, to be honest. I wasn't even sure there would be any changes at all until I tested it.”

The load time is also drastically reduced from almost 50 seconds to about 2.

It’s a remaster, so I’m not sure what you’re expecting other than that really. But it’s definitely not just a framerate increase.

Just got it for the $10 upgrade since I had a disc version of Uncharted 4. Downloading now!

Game of the Year in 3 weeks. Cannot wait!

@Papasears Uncharted is an incredible series, well worth the purchase imo. But it’s really nothing like The Last of Us except that it’s in third-person and made by the same devs.

I would say Uncharted is Tomb Raider with a way better script, cast of characters, and level of polish. Or maybe Indiana Jones with alot more shootouts.

In a very stacked year I will not be surprised if Forbidden West is my GotY.
