@munstre It's might not be how much PS5 stock is available. It could be how many Horizon fans get their hands on one (scalpers, etc). Also I would argue that fans of first party franchises are very likely to wait for the latest console from Sony. Furthermore games like Horizon, Spiderman and GOW are often seen as collectibles by Sony fans and therefore a lot of physical sales. I know dozens of people that waited for a PS5 for this reason before getting the game. If anything, bundling the game that many new ps5 buyers might want is smart. This is just conjecture though. No objective perspective would result in a definite correlation here as we dont know for certain. (As someone above said)
Is it the social aspect of many of the popular Switch games that draw such big numbers? I rarely see any games I actually play on Switch popping up on the charts. Zelda was the last one I recall doing well. This is in contrast to PC and PlayStation where my favourite games often do very well.
Edit: I recall fire emblem and astral chain doing well also. And shin megami v.
Would love a sequel. There was something more magical about exploring the game. Finding shrines, etc just felt so much more magical to me than your typical open world collectibles. Also had some of the best side questlines imo.
What is this obsession with exclusives. You buy a console or pc to play games from multiple publishers. (First and third party) If these release dates remain true, it's a good year ahead.
I really enjoyed Dragons Dogma but most especially Dark Arisen. Perhaps one of the better expansions I have played. I don't expect to see FF7R part 2 release soon but would be a nice surprise.
@naruball I have actually been wondering about this focus on souls like games. I feel like DMC games would have a bigger audience than souls-like but I could be very wrong. It's just that most people I know avoid these souls-like games but will buy DMC, Bayonetta, etc day 1.
Already played P4 on Steam but might try P3 on gamepass. I'm quite happy for Xbox players. I just hope newer Persona and Yakuza games will still be available on PlayStation day 1 as most fans would have bought a PlayStation 4/5 and won't want to fork out for a pc/Xbox as well. Most of my friends will probably give up on gaming lol.
For me Odyssey with Kassandra was the best of the three. Valhalla was a slog for me character-wise. Odyssey is a game that I played over many many months though as I can't play these types of games for days on end unless they have compelling side quests like Witcher 3.
Was a great showcase. Looks to me like we tend to see a period of first party dominance followed by third party dominance and back to first party. Looking good in my opinion. Most people aren't going to buy as many games as more dedicated gaming communities so Sony has no pressure to have a GT or Horizon every few months. This pacing looks reasonable business-wise.
@WallyWest Fair point. Myself included. I'm guessing new ps5 owners are why Horizon and GT is remaining this high.
Edit: So it might just be that Horizon and GT5 have longer legs then if these two continue to sell well. Many people were probably waiting for ps5s before getting these games.
Most gamers don't voice opinions on the internet as they don't care that much about the stuff that gets outrage online. I mean do most people even care about ps plus games when they buy their preferred games on day 1 instead of waiting for it to be on ps plus? I know I only use it for online with the occasional surprise like Control popping up on the service. Many just want to play games like GTA, FIFA, Fortnite, Apex online and they simply buy ps plus for that.
This is an incredible list. Sure, lots of PS4 games here but many play much better on PS5. Whether you play on PS4 or PS5, the exclusives are industry leading. If we are going to restrict to next gen only, that is just going to make competitors look even worse right now.
Horizon FW and Elden Ring. Btw only noticed that my downloads menu on ps5 seems to have changed which I guess is not a big deal. Just not sure why they did it when it looks worse imo? I initially was like omg what is happening with all these patch sizes for Horizon and GT7 and then I clicked on each download individually to see. Kinda seems like when you look at all three downloads each seems to show the download time of the entire game file size while clicking on one download then just shows the patch size. Weird though lol.
Horizon FW, Elden Ring and GT7. Perhaps this will be my answer for the next few weeks still. The Feb/Mar 2022 release schedule is one of my personal favourites ever and I'll definitely get Tiny Tina's Wonderlands as well.
Lots of games get poor reviews for repetitive grinding. Increasing the grind means a lot of people will consider it more boring. Hopefully this affects Sony's approach to their additonal upcoming live service games. Also imagine playing another single player game and suddenly the xp grind to get premium skills, weapons, etc goes much higher after already buying the game...
If you want realistic car pricing, you would have to make the best cars impossible for most to earn. Since you know, most people will never be able to buy them irl. This is not about realism. Another round of credit nerfs and I'll sell this game at a loss. I'm beginning to think I'll be eating humble pie given how I dismissed concerns over a focus on live service games.
@Wolfie_Pie I also prefer the multiple linear pathways of previous games. Great to see it do well and I'm enjoying it a lot but it is not my personal best Fromsoft game.
Just reallocate this as an upskilling exercise or something and move on to something else. These types of games are hard to make and even harder to redeem after launch.
@Apfelschteiner played the demo and I cringed more than usual. But I guess that may not be the case for everyone lol. I've cringed for final fantasy games before but those were more tolerable. Might just be a case that I got older. I don't know really.
Edit: meant that maybe my tastes have changed in recent years since final fantasy 12. For Final fantasy 15 I didn't cringe much aside from just disliking the general story.

Re: Mini Review: Resident Evil 3 (PS5) - Disappointing Remake Looks and Runs Much Better
@Zombiechris No need to. Just passing an opinion shared by others as well. No big deal. Have a good one.
Re: The PS5, PS4 Release Schedule in 2023 Is Officially Ridiculous

Re: Feature: What We Want From Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and How It Needs to Improve on Remake
I don't need more exploration, just less corridors, etc slowing the character down. Those just cause teeth grinding. Also more meaningful side quests.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 431
Mostly Elden Ring. A bit of Far Cry 6. Also may try and wrap up platinum with Horizon FW.
Re: Evil West Gameplay Looks Like God of War with Guns
This could be good!
Re: Poll: Which Final Fantasy Game are You Most Looking Forward to?
Definitely Ff16 for me
Re: Explore Sword and Fairy: Together Forever's Rolling Vistas in New Trailer, Coming to PS5, PS4 on 4th August
Is this game a good starting point in this series. I'd hate to be confused in the game because of earlier games in the series.
Re: Mini Review: Resident Evil 3 (PS5) - Disappointing Remake Looks and Runs Much Better
This game was a massive disappointment for me following the incredible Resi2 Remake. I'll only try out the ps5 version of Resi2.
Re: Reminder: Final Fantasy 7 and Dragon's Dogma Events Are Happening at the Same Time Today
I really enjoyed Dragons Dogma but most especially Dark Arisen. Perhaps one of the better expansions I have played. I don't expect to see FF7R part 2 release soon but would be a nice surprise.

Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Dev Details a Soulslike Action Game, Built on the Back of Nioh
Good news. Not every game needs to be open world

Re: UK Sales Charts: 92% of Sniper Elite 5 Sales Are on PS5, PS4
@Toypop Yeah that's a fair point.
Re: UK Sales Charts: 92% of Sniper Elite 5 Sales Are on PS5, PS4
@Flaming_Kaiser never said it wasn't. I like all three games I mentioned.
Re: Sony and Bungie Will Create a Live Service Centre of Excellence Once Acquisition Closes
Just don't delete old content for these games like with Destiny. I like experiencing the beginning of online games...

Re: The Witcher Dev Wants to Make Something Extraordinary with Unreal Engine 5
Less talk, more doing please. Even if it takes a while to do those things.
Re: Random: The Witcher Cookbook Will Give You a Taste of the Continent's Cuisine
Everytime I hear something Witcher-related all of my games aside from Witcher 3 run the risk of going into the backlog.
Re: New Tomb Raider Game Confirmed, Uses Unreal Engine 5
Good. About time I hear about a new TR game.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 420
Switching between Horizon FW, GT7 and Elden Ring depending on what I feel like.
Re: Mini Review: Lost Judgment: The Kaito Files (PS5) - Shorter Story Expansion Beats Yagami at His Own Game
Perhaps from now on they will need to only hire actors who don't have agencies with this...uh (searching for polite word)...strictness.

Persona 3 and 4 for all regions please.

Persona 4 at the very least
Re: Temper Your Enthusiasm for Huge Week of PlayStation News
Should have quoted Kratos expectations line to Atreus directly in the subheading. Very disappointed!
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Tiny Tina's Wonderlands?
Would have bought it as a day 1 game. But too much games to get through atm. Definitely buying it soonish though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 418
Horizon FW with occasional GT7. Taking a break from Elden Ring.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin?
@Apfelschteiner this just happens to be the only game in recent memory that made me cringe. To each, his or her own I guess.
Edit: meant to say "that made me cringe too much"
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin?
No but if I do, I'm playing it muted and focusing on gameplay. Cringy dialogue lol.
Re: Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Guide: Boss Fight Walkthroughs, Jobs, and Where to Start
Is the story kept to a minimum? I feel the less cutscenes, the more likely I will enjoy this particular game.
Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Patch Restores Servers After 24 Hours, Polyphony Digital Comments on Microtransactions
