Nacon and developer Daedalic Entertainment have been working on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum for some time now, and while it's yet to blow us away, Tolkien fans will surely be watching this game with interest. The game now finally has a firm release date on both PS5 and PS4, and it's just a few months away.

The game, which stars the iconic Gollum as the player character, is scheduled for launch on 1st September 2022. It explores the creature's journey in the early goings of The Fellowship of the Ring, following him as he travels Middle-earth to track down the fabled ring. "After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey that leads him from the dungeons of Barad-dûr to the realm of the Wood-elves in Mirkwood," reads the press release.

It sounds like players will be able to make key decisions, depending whether they side with Gollum or Sméagol, his alternate personality which will interject throughout the game. The above trailer, released last year, will give you a rough idea of what to expect.
