Really want to give Sekiro a shot, what did you think of it? (what games of the series did you prefer in general too)
Ah man I hope I don't manage to negatively influence your opinion of me all that much now given that I have to answer that question ๐ญ๐ I quite liked Sekiro, for context I suck at parrying, whenever a game gives you the option to use parry and it's not anywhere near to vital, so really just optional, I never use it, I just dodge or block in games. So Sekiro is a game I never wanted to try out because it was as parry heavy as it is. I had however, prior to trying Sekiro, completed Nioh 2 & Demon's Souls and was left wanting more so I checked it out, went on to play Bloodborne as well afterwards which was as recent as last month. If I had to rank them (best to worst), Elden Ring (basically my first fromsoft game), sekiro, ds3 (even though I haven't completed it), bloodborne or demon's souls remake. Demon's Souls was just plain annoying, it did look nice but in every possible facet of a game it was sadly the progenitor to all of the other soulslikes, which just made it plain inferior imo. Some boss fights were cool though, some pretty cool standout moments in general but wouldn't recommend it to anyone (lest you be a soulsfan). Bloodborne was majorly disappointing I've always heard it was more atmospherical than the other games, more aggressive as well and I was looking forward to the lovecraft influences, but it sadly wasn't all that much. I've read a few HPL novels prior to playing so I had certain expectations, they just weren't met. Also of note, I did originally try playing bb some 4/5 years back but never got past Gascoigne, this time around I didn't die more than 5 times a boss, got to go through most bosses first time and didn't have much of a problem navigating the areas either, it was all just a bit lacklustre, and I had a constant feeling the game was a bit small in size. I did however not play the DLC, which I have read and seen enough about to know it probably is worthwhile. So yeah you can probably notice I'm not a regular fromsoft fan lol Sekiro was great though, I've always read playing it was like dancing, which when you try it and get to Genichiro will probably become very evident. It had some ***** design here and there but overall a great game, boss fights were very neat and gangsta.
@lolwhatno
That's all good brother, mental health is underrated and whether it's related or not I'm glad you took the decision to focus on yourself, still missed ya though buddy, ever a ray of sunshine ๐ฅน
I've been swell.
did you buy GT7 yet?
Ayooo you just made me realize I've been postponing buying that ***** for over a year now ๐
Ngl they have been adding a lot of stuff over the year, and it looks as neat as ever but atm I'm just waiting for the new forza to scratch that sim itch.
I almost forgot btw, you're big on fromsoft right? Your pfp reminded me of it ๐
I've recently dug more into their library, finished sekiro, bloodborne and the demon's souls remake.
Been thinking about digging into dark souls (1 or 2, 3 I've already done for the most part) as well but I don't really wanna go into it alone ๐ฎโ๐จ
May your ventures be bountiful, happy eid โฅ๏ธ๐
@tallythwack I've recently taken the time to watch the alien & predator movies, liked some, disliked some. But alienยณ stands as the only movie I haven't watched of the lot because when I read of it, it all goes both ways, which version did you watch (or would you recommend)? I prefer Aliens over Alien*
@lolwhatno in fairness there's still quite a lot of surprising (couch) co-op games (on console) so it's not that farfetched. Where have you been btw, missed you for like a year ๐ญ๐ญ
Will probably wait for a dlc bundle sale when it's all released, and reviews, before potentially buying it. I loved the game though, great soundtrack and visuals, gameplay could be worked on but overall one of the few games I would actually pay full price for despite not playing it all that much.
@FatalBubbles why do people hate ffxv again? ๐ I started gaming a year or so after and didn't play ffxv (my first final fantasy) until about a year or two after that and thought it was pretty excellent. If anything I'm led to believe all final fantasy games are bad lol
I'm not buying it myself cause I don't see the appeal but if it does well and it means Fromsoft will take it as an incentive to branch out more I'm all for it.
@knight_spg that's just how their sub works. "Subscribing to Ubisoft+ allows you to access our growing and regularly updated catalogue of new releases, beloved franchises and classic Ubisoft titles.
Subscribe to the PC Access plan to play on Ubisoft Connect PC only, or to our Multi Access plan to play on multiple platforms." Check their website for more details, it's why their sub is so expensive
@BadPlayerOne I happened to randomly watch that movie last week and didn't even see the similarities lol I thought it was a great flick though, classic 80s really enjoyed it. Didn't even know it was regarded as a b/c flick.
@UltimateOtaku91 well I mean back when Hogwarts Legacy was getting promoted some folks actually thought it wouldn't release on xbox at all to then prompt those 'is hogwarts releasing on x platform' type articles. And that was just promo rights
So I suppose there is substantial value to be found in embargoes.
I still think they're stupid though
The dual world mechanic is dope for a game of this scope. Wondering how exactly it will pan out though given that most of it seemed to be rather close up. Still surprising how good this one looks because I never see anyone say a good thing about the first.
@tselliot if only it meant a similar upside for the consumers like they have on pc. This digital era has made me have a better understanding of why people pirate games, excluding drm and all that.
Weird how we got some reveals that seemed more fitting at the ps showcase a mere few weeks back but it was a good showing.
I mean could we really not get a spider-man release date back then lol
@KidRyan it took Alan Wake 11 years so that might not be too far off. If their Epic partnership continues I hope they manage to see a financial benefit to it.
@KidRyan I hope they do as well! Don't know how it all works but I'm thinking the included tv series might be hard to get on another platform licensing wise. Especially now that Lance Reddick died. Could ofcourse just watch it on youtube however, bit it's a nice tie-in to just have on the console to watch after you complete a chapter.
@Ravix I had to look it up because it's been a while for me as well but the in-game tv show Night Springs does appear in Quantum Break, also does in AW and is mentioned in Control. Apparently Alan Wake himself wrote the episodes for the show in-universe and the FBC acquired the rights to the show. There definitely is more than a subtle connection between all of the games. Between in-game collectible notes, recurring character (names), powers and I think organizations as well (FBC and maybe more). Apparently most of it is 'explained' in Control's AWE DLC but I haven't played any of Control's DLCs. I don't think they'll gloss over anything that's happened in Quantum Break. I'm glad it's releasing on ps day one, hope it will fuel more sales and Remedy gets to build this universe even more. It's why I was initially glad they secured Epic funding because I think they're masters at crafting this shared universe between games together with fromsoft. And I'm not even necessarily that hyped to play the game, I just want to know more about what's happening in the universe.
"As we said in our previous preview, the presentation is on par with what youโd expect from a Sony first-party"
Pretty funny that's what it's being compared to, entirely fair however ๐
@NarutosBiggestFan this really is the type of thing to only happen in a dream lol. Oddly enough I did spot a similar comment in the vid's comment section. I hope most of it holds true for you ๐ซก
Wtf ๐ Sure let's make more third party action adventure games and live service games instead of stuff that's actually different and happens to be good ๐ฅฒ

@Amnesiac fighting game renaissance? Granted I don't dig the genre but I see gamers badmouth fighter games as much as any others, for its lack of basic features or even for paying for those (Can't find it but sth about paying for rollback netcode were headlines a few years back).
