@themightyant atlas fallen failed? That's a bummer, thought it looked pretty neat. And wish Focus nothing but success. Also in fairness this doesn't launch for 80, it's only 60, though if AF wasn't a success story at just 50 I dunno what to say 😭
@MikeOrator oh yh I agree for the most part. I have had some great experiences playing turn based games. Just sick of it at the same time.
I played DQ11, thought it was great albeit a tad ugly because iirc it was a switch port. Liked it a lot and would've finished it, at a certain point however I was under levelled for some reason and fights took me ages. Just got to being a menial task at that point and lost all enjoyment whatsoever.
Same happened with Yakuza LAD, enjoyed it quite a lot until the Saejima x Majima boss fight. Still love the game but what a detractor that was.
Octopath Traveller is also a similar situation. Can't say I really remember the specifics of it though 🤔
Which is a real shame because I thought the game looked lovely.
Sea of Stars is another game I quit early last year. Liked it, was written wonderfully but it became tedious very fast. The whole interactive combat thing where you could time your attacks with the characters and even hit multiple times as well on some attacks was a wonderful addition I would like to see in more turn based games.
And yh Larian is great at it, I still haven't finished Div Original Sin 2 (16 ~ hours) but I can attest to the fact that it is simply one of the very best rpgs I have ever played.
Sadly, I can't get that enjoyment from many other rpgs, and again I haven't managed to ever pick it up again though I believe that might partly be because I picked it up on pc.
I will say though I'd like to see turn based combat branch out to other genres.
Lemnis Gate released way back in 2021, caught my eye because I don't I had seen a turn based fps in that style ever before.
It died rather quickly and I never even played it but I wouldn't mind more of that.
Anyway I remember you as a big yakuza fan, happy gaming man. I hope inf wealth hits it out of the park.
@Bez87 I agree, I'm glad they changed things up succesfully and it was one hell of a node to classic rpgs as a whole but at the same time it was so frickin tedious at times. Especially some of the boss fights. Turn based should just stay as a thing of the past. Relic of an old age.
@vyseofhr was thinking the same after reading through it.
Some titles stand out but after all the hype on this site about 2024 being a stunning year I don't see it happening lol
@MrGilly69 wow did you actually put over 10,000 hours in those games 😯
@Northern_munkey one of the worst games I have ever played. Felt very unfinished, kind of inbetween indie and AA as well. But it does have a good lovecraftian story to it. Sinking City felt like a waste of time to me, mainly because a friend gifted it to me else it would've been a waste of money as well. Its performance is nothing but suboptimal as well, granted I did play this way back when on ps4, it might've gotten patched since. I prefer the Call of Cthulhu game if you want some HP Lovecraft goodness.
@Northern_munkey I'm currently playing through remnant 2 as well! About 17 hours in, did two heavy sessions over the last two days. I do often hear people saying that the remnant games aren't soulslike and I can kind of see the argument. I'm personally more in disagreement with the people who say the respawn jedi games are soulslikes. At least the first game is fairly easy (haven't played the second yet) and beyond the metroidvania level design to it it doesn't share anything else with the fromsoft titles. It's just a linear action adventure that even has fleshed out cutscenes (beyond the usual fromsoft boss fight cutscenes). I get that the remnant games are very rng heavy, based on replayability and has a more accessible story to it but at the same time its focus on various builds reminds me a lot of the fromsoft games, that and navigating through the world finding items that are loosely related to a random npc and its crystals that serve as bonfires. In my opinion they have a very fromsoft feel to them when I play them. But again I can see why someone would say they aren't soulslikes. Damnnn and you picked up wo long as well, you got a type fr.
Best soulslike I've ever played, even better than the nioh and remnant games 😮💨 I'd daresay even better than the majority of fromsoftware's outings. And it still has room to grow with its dlc on the way.
@Grimwood exact same thing? Anything but the destruction physics sure but that's what sets it apart in the end. Besides its patches are great. It's already gotten its second event and the game's only been out for two weeks 😮💨
@themightyant bit of an odd comparison to make because annapurna does films as well, and A24 seems to be going into more 'higher' budget films, or at least looking that way lately.
That Civil War trailer is beautiful 😮💨
But I get it, it's a great fit for DS. One of the very best studios in the business partnering with Kojima.
Has that Peele x Kojima partnership vibes written all over it.
@Toot1st I just wanna reiterate your point yeah, randoms can be good but playing without communication is damn hard. Game's amazing though, one of the best dopamine filled experiences I've had in a while.
@Boucho11 word, I already liked the previews to begin with but the alpha was so goddamn fun to play. Did it throughout with a friend and gave some code to others and everyone enjoyed it. Sincerely hope it does well.
@SlySnake0407 I agree wholeheartedly. And as for the first part of your comment that is actually more prevalent on pc where Steam allows you full access to your game library offline (don't know if that holds for always online games)
And GOG allows for making (offline) copies of your games without getting in trouble for it.
I know consoles grant limited access with the exception of some sub services needing confirmation and a connection to the internet every x day(s) but maybe that will all change in time when physical sales on console reach the same point as on the pc market. Hopefully sooner.
@Beerheadgamer82 It was a good sending off for the character and a good conclusion to the trilogy don't get me wrong. It's just very meek for a Fuqua flick, denzel wasn't given enough opportunities to be as suave as he always is. Pales in comparison to the first movie, doesn't help that the villain's wack. Don't let me stop you man, Denzel's as smooth as ever, he even speaks Italian in this one 😮💨
Sad to see one of the very best japanese games out there with an english dub of this quality for kiryu.....
Total miscast. I hope this doesn't put off too many people from playing it.
I vividly remember trying to watch the funimation english dub for one piece which was so horrifically bad it had me rethinking my life choices. Luckily I ended up watching it with subs, which I hope many will mimick in these games.
The Yakuza games deserve better man 😮💨
On a sidenote I'd pay top dollar to see yakuza members react to the current games, except this time around have them react to yongyea's voice acting.
Be amazing if they had some kinda anime collab with this one as well. The possibilities are endless. I was so bummed when I read I couldn't get the Berserk armor sets in the Dark Arisen version 😭
@Blofse they did previously say there were at least two expansions planned but after the game turned out to be the mess it was they limited it to just one and blamed it on the fact that they're moving to developing on unreal engine 5. And still charged 40 for phantom liberty lol, the balls on em eh
@Dudditz09 takes one to know one. I bought it me self 🥲 Granted, it only cost me €1 because I used rewards points. But I'm making excuses here it's still €1 too much 😂 Happy gaming man
@ChrisDeku I can find FFXVI for €28 and Diablo for €39. Before you go off about the difference in currency it is cheaper than the digital sale price here. So with the exception of fifa, and honestly you'd have to be a knob to buy that anyway (shoutout the dude in the comments here who said he bought it), you can save a pretty penny. Have to fight the urge to pick up ffxvi myself. Could trade it in and save some more money as well.
@atthegates yeah mine runs out in a month and from the look of things won't renew. Maybe the december line-up manages to surprise me, pleasantly that is. @awp69 Cmon awp lighten up a bit mate 😂 I'm not comparing nothing, my guy mentioned he's gonna have a looksie at gp so I said what I said. Not everything I say is a dig against gp yano, never figured I'd summon you on here but here we are. I'd say happy gaming but I know for a fact gamepass never fails to deliver for you 🫡

Misread this as 16 playable character forms because it's very in line with current fighters which made the subtitle just slightly outrageous lol

Totally deserving of its popularity.
The only thing I hate about the game is the fact that I didn't put more hours into it when I could 😔
