I might catch some flak for this, but I'm starting to put a lot more trust into Asian influence in gaming, than Western. I feel like the East still gets gamers and I have absolutely no idea what is going on there in boardrooms in the Western hemisphere. This isn't new, I've always been a huge JRPG fan but the chasm between the two different approaches, seems to grow every year and not in a good direction. Indies are another story, but big corp has lost it's way.
My feelings about hearing a live service game being announced is the same as my feelings about hearing that one got cancelled. Indifferent, other than the people attached to the project, I don't really care.
@ZeroSum 100%. Had they not focused on people that literally owned several other high-priced houses and properties, and this just being just one of the many, it would not have came across as so damn tone deaf. Especially in an economy where a lot of people can't afford to buy even one house. Blame the media for this crappy take. Nobody wants to see anyone's life fortune go up in flames, but they really can't read a room, or maybe they can and knew exactly what they were doing.
@Steeleye50 But then would they be as great? Death Stranding sat on my shelf in gamin backlog for almost a year. Once I started playing, I kicked myself for not starting sooner.
I don't understand how popular Steam can be, almost the de facto way of playing PC games, and people freak out about PSN. Of course, people freak out about everything today, so maybe me not understanding is more abnormal
Honestly, I quit Plus about the time they changed everything. I don't really play multiplayer online, never too worried about cloud saves, and their monthly games seem to always be poo.
Just my experience, if someone is getting more out of it, great. Wasn't worth a dime to me.
@riceNpea I can't even believe for two seconds that the author of this article knew just reposting this was going to be divisive. Then act shocked about the comment section.
@Bingoboyop Nah, that's just from companies not understanding their fan base. How they get it so wrong, I really don't know. I have some ideas but I'll stay away from the topic
Almost starting to feel like the gaming companies have a team dedicated to rage baiting players. It doesn't matter how you feel about the character, there is almost zero chance they didn't, or shouldn't, expect this. Is this just a new marketing technique or are you going to tell me they really don't understand the average gamer? Maybe go outside of a big city to shop character designs?
Will the "significant upgrade" still contain the sailing mechanics? Why I didn't mind, I think it was off putting to some players. Although, that seems like a very core thing to remove from Nordics, unless the upgrade is just one one island, like a previous Ys game.
Not counting my own opinion, I really see Astro Bot due to the wide appeal. Some of these games, while popular, are also very niche. Again, that's not MY GOTY, that probably goes to Metaphor, but if I'm predicting the winner, I'd go with Astro Bot.
Dragon Age:Veilguard. Not as bad as people are making it out to be but not quiet the masterpiece critics made it out to be. I'm still having fun it borrows mechanics from almost every AAA game in the last decade.
GOTY in a category, I can see, but GOTY all around, nah. Just like my GOTY is Metaphor, even though I know the most likely GOTY is Astro Bot. It's just more approachable and mainstream. Will I cry if Balatro gets it? No, but I just don't see that happening.

I expect this to go down exactly as expected.
Re: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Goes Full Black Flag with Insane Naval Combat Gameplay
Naval battles weren't exactly my favorite part of the latest Ys, but it wasn't really a central part of the game. Hopefully, that's the same here.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Live Service Push Has Been a Disaster of Utterly Insane Proportions
Not really a live service fan. If I want a bunch of kids yelling at me while I game, I'll just wait until my grandchildren are over.
Re: Reaction: Sony's Live Service Push Has Been a Disaster of Utterly Insane Proportions
Thank God. Maybe the era of live service games is almost over. Most are just a blight to gaming
