Is this using the Dragon engine? Kind of worried by the graphics that it's just a repaint instead of an overhaul. Don't get me wrong, I'm buying it. I've played them all including the ones not translated, but just not convince of what I'm getting here.
In comparison Balatro was done with thousands of dollars (although the figure wasn't made public, it wasn't millions) and became profitable within one hour of release.
@samueljoshua It's not a horrible story but a very obvious middle of a series game that solves almost no mysteries. I loved it but I can see someone saying it was middling, but that's the point..
@Fandabidozi2025 Just finished Yakuza Kiwaimi 2 and Yakuza 6 over the holidays. I also just fired up Yakuza LAD for my first replay since it's debut year
Said it in last article, sometimes you got to know when to just STFU. Did he fire his communication director? This seems just unnecessarily dumb. Just. Stop. Talking.
That's actually good news. PS5, while I've enjoyed a lot of games, still needs more bangers before I feel like I got my money's worth this generation. I'm not ready for PS6, and I've never said that before about a next gen
Did Inazuma ever get a review on this site? I remember back in November it was announced you were working on it (around the clock). I don't see it unless it isn't linked properly
February is (too?) stacked. Wouldn't shock me if some of these games shuffle their release dates. There are a lot of anticipated titles in one month, at least for me.
Imagine what the internet would be like when Disney moved on from hand painted animations? It's happening. You don't have to like it. You don't have to buy it, but it's happening. The good thing is you can tell when it's overused, or crap. It's a tool, like computers were to modern day animation. If you're willing to pay, and enough people are willing to pay, to bypass it, great, but don't complain about crunch and AI in the same breath.
@Scottyy I will ashamedly admit that Yakuza Like a Dragon was my first Yakuza game. Now I've played a lot of them. None of them do you have to play before the other, even if some people swear by that.
Mob mentality. I'm sure the early Disney animators that hand painted animations scree by screen, felt the same way, and the younger ones just learned how to use a computer.
@Midnyte-Monkey Reminds me of the American boy bands of the 90s, a very manufactured look. Now in hindsight hearing the horror stories behind that era and the managers, you wonder if the K-Pop members are going through something similar.
I'm not directly defending AI, but art has been so loosely defined in the last few decades, that it's really ironic that people are now drawing such a tight border around it. Really brings back that "What is art?" vibe. Obviously, it's the human element that defines it, but the fact people were taping bananas to walls and calling it art, kind of makes this seem like you brought it on yourselves.
Hopefully that test was two versions fresh out the box because the play time is going to be different as batteries age (deplete and recharge).
So the real test is this new version a year after you own it.
Being in the IT field, most of our experts are short or long term contractors. I'm not sure what it's like in the gaming industry but it seems like these projects would be more in line for hiring contractors. I guess they probably do, and it's the full time staff that are always in danger, at a studio?
@Deadlyblack I think it's a me thing, but I have difficulties diving back into a game and playing expansions. I've tried severally heavily rated ones, and it just doesn't click for me.
@Nepp67 I'm hoping there's a new season where the first season choices impact your play, but, yeah, this "so and so - will remember that", didn't seem fleshed out.
@HotGoomba I prefer to binge and wasn't really sold, until by the time I kept hearing people talk about it, all episodes were out. Think I preferred it that way. I was thinking about the fact it was released a few episodes at a time when I was playing through, and some episodes weren't that long. It's a good game, glad I waited, though.
