Cyberpunk 2077 is currently blowing minds at E3 2018. That's according to a number of video games journalists who have taken to Twitter in order to voice their first impressions. The game was shown behind closed doors to members of the press earlier today.

So, what's confirmed? Well, it's got a seamless open world, which means no load screens. It's also first-person, it's got some punchy-sounding shooting mechanics, and it's absolutely stuffed with player choice. It sounds like developer CD Projekt Red is taking everything it accomplished with The Witcher 3 and is transplanting it into something equally special.

You can also choose the gender of your protagonist, fully customise them, and a whole range of skills let you develop specific play styles and discover impressive sounding combinations. The Polish studio certainly isn't shying away from the role-playing that it's known for.
All in all, we can't wait to see this thing in action. Come on, Cd Projekt Red -- don't keep us waiting much longer!

They are just on another level than most other developers.
Absolutely ruined my pants reading Twitter this evening
First person eh? Unexpected somehow but fair enough. Looking forward to it. Hope the gunplay is solid.
when he mentioned mods to control bots, does he mean actuall mods or in game tools just called mods?
Some other news from the interview with one of the devs at the Gamespot stage show:
1) He adressed the concerns that the game is too colorful by saying it still has that "noir" feel during the nights (day and night cycle) and the story is definintely noir, they just wanted to showcase something different
2) He emphasized this is an RPG, despite it being first person (some people for some reason have touble connecting the two)
3) Much more focus on verticality (a huge apartment complex with many floors, vendors, quest givers etc)
@jdv95 Mods in the game.
I am really bad at first person shooting, would have preferred third person, especially since you can choose and customize your character. Oh well, I better start practicing because I don’t want to miss this.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah, my one and only concern is gunplay just because it's new for them.
I feel like we saw a lot of games this E3 that are either next-gen, or will end up like those 2013 PS3/360 games that were compromised so much on the hardware and ended up getting next-gen ports pretty soon that did them justice.
So...why not show gameplay instead? I bet I wouldn't be crying like I did on sunday...
This is going to do for me what Witcher did for everyone else. I absolutely cannot wait.
@Peach64 yeah this and TLOU 2 will most likely get a ps5 "remaster" a year after it's release on the ps4.
@jdv95 Death Stranding probably has even less done than TLOU
"first-person"
Is there a chance that we see some gameplay during this E3 ?
@AFCC i don't know. i think that they are just being secretive for the sake of it. TLOU might be prety far in development (more then halfway through) but i think that death stranding might be a full on ps5 game at this point.
@Th3solution first person is easy come on son.
Can't stand first person games. Unless they're for VR, that is.
Gonna give it a miss, it seems.
Okay, well I'll need to see the gameplay for myself before my mind is blown.
I'll buy it on ps5
I hope it’s their last hoorah for this generation. Don’t really wanna wait forever more to play it on Xbox 2/PlayStation 5.... already have to wait for Starfield and ES6. I appreciate that they’ve acknowledged these projects publicly finally, but I almost would’ve rather them not say anything at all if they’re not coming soon, ya know?
@naruball i don't mind first person (altough i prefer third person) but i get sick playing VR.
@JesWood13 it most likely will be a cross gen title.
@playstation1995 My issue with first person is that I feel claustrophobic since you can’t see in the peripheral and surroundings as well. So I feel like I get shot in the back or from the side a lot 😅. But it’s okay, I played Skyrim and a few rare FPS here and there like Borderlands and loved those so I should manage. Word up.
still need to see gameplay myself to believe the worth of the hype.
the trailer didn't do much for me at all. altough i do like what i hear from the people that saw the gameplay.
I call making cyber geralt.
@Th3solution ok fair enough.try resistance games on ps3.borderlands.fallout.i love first person.shooting games.i wasnt even born with first person shooting games.and i love them.word up son
@playstation1995 oh, yeah, I forgot - I did also play Bioshock and Bioshock infinite, both of which I loved. And Borderlands 1&2. So I guess I have more FPS experience than I realized. I do want to get into the Resistance games. Maybe they are remastering them, which would be great for those of us that missed them. Anyway, Cyberpunk will be great, I have no doubt.
@shogunrok
did you make a mess tonight ?
I used to dislike the first person perspective but I've gotten used to it over the years. I honestly would have preferred this to be in 3rd person but it's from those chaps and gals from Poland so I'm sure it will be all sorts of quality.
First person?? No thanks then
@jdv95 I think it will be PS5 launch title but also on PS4
With me been a huge Blade Runner fan, this could be something extraordinary for me just based off the developers involved.
I’m kind of disappointed that it’s first person
1St person! Hell yeah!! Though it would be cool to be able to switch back and forth from 3rd person too so we can see our custom characters.
First-Person? Barf... I hate first-person... it's like playing with one eye closed.
Now I'm sad.
Aww, still gonna get it months/years later. Not a fan of FP perspective but am hoping they'll add a third person perspective too. I mean CDPR listens to their fans and might add it via updates or as a free DLC.
@jdv95 VR makes me dizzy sometimes too, but not always. You get used to it. More importantly, it's one of the most amazing experiences I've had as a gamer. I really think it's worth a try.
First person? Scratching off the list.
First person, why? What's the point character creation at that point?
I really hope this game and PS5 will come out together.
I bought an Xbox One X just to get some more graphic boost on my 4K TV for multi plat games (plus some of the exclusives), but Cyberpunk I really want to play on next gen.
Liked everything I've read in the tweets, just not the first person view part.
Not liking what I'm hearing. That, combined with the less-than-stellar trailer... I'll wait for reviews and gameplay footage.
That's good to hear, I'm just not the biggest fan of the first-person perspective though.
I didn't like the trailer so much too, but nothing to worry about.
@jdv95
Mods are a big part of Cyberpunk. Like cybernetics. Basically what they call augmentations in Deus Ex
From what I've read on Twitter it sounds amazing but also likely a PS5 game from what many have said particularly John Linneman, we'll see but I wouldn't get my hopes up for this being on PS4
I'm a bit sad that it's a first person game as I prefer third person, and I was expecting third person, but it's not a major thing.
I really wish it wasn't first person...
I had high hopes for this game when it was initially announced. I've now got zero interest. I don't care for the Sunset Overdrive-esque feeling to it and have no interest in playing another FP-RPG after seeing what Deus Ex became.
I do wish CDPR the best of luck and hope they do well because more devs need to adopt their consumer-first business practices.
Replaying The Witcher 3 currently for the DLCs... sounds like Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be on a similar level, excited!
I'll still play the game, but I'm not as excited as I was, now that I know it's gonna be first person.
