For the first time in a while, we've got a slew of new releases to write about when it comes to the latest Japanese sales charts. Regular readers may have noticed that we actually missed the charts last week (you can blame Overlord Barker for that), so we're catching up now.
Okay, where to start? Well, the software charts were topped by Dark Souls Remastered, which did around 72,000 copies on PlayStation 4. It was followed by Detroit: Become Human in second, shifting 40,000 copies. The rest of the charts were dominated by Persona 5: Dancing Star Night and Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night. When added all together, both titles moved around 110,000 copies. That figure also includes Vita sales.
However, all of these new PlayStation 4 games failed to move the console itself, which is still stuck around 17,500 units, including the PS4 Pro. On the hardware side of things, PlayStation remains in a bit of a rut.

thing is they have sold over 70 million PS4's since the console launched
i think it's safe to assume 90% of the people who want one already have it plus with rumours of the PS5 coming and support for the PS4 going through to 2021 it's no surprise the sales will be slowing down
@FullbringIchigo They're not slowing down in other parts of the world, though. They just set a new April record in the US.
This is more about Japan than anything else to be honest.
Wow, this is very surprising to see Detroit being so popular in japan.
@tatsumi Define popular
I'm certain there's a small but dedicated fanbase in Japan for western games and Sony games in general, like how JRPGs have a cult following over here.
Atlus. Hurry up with the persona twin pack for the West please
its summer a dancing game a remastered game thats already been realeased twice and a Quick time simulator. Im just rushing out of the outdoor pool with the kids to buy all three. lol
Yeah, I think it will be tough to keep up with the mobiles market and successful handhelds. If you consider handhelds and mobiles a competitor that is.
I'm just speculating, but I think the bulk of PS4 sales occurred rather early on. Meaning, the vast majority of the people who want to play on a PS4 already have one.
total of all persona sales is more like 65,000, not 110,000.
@leucocyte The 110,000 is going off the figures Gematsu supplies, which I assume include numbers not mentioned in the charts.
If that's somehow a mistake on Gematsu's end and all of the games have only done around 65,000 sales, that's pretty terrible for Atlus. Bit of a bomber.
