I don't have a PS5...could probably get one if I really tried but there hasn't been a compelling reason for me to pick one up yet. I think I'll be buying this if it makes it over to Steam though as it'll be a way to try a PS5 game without shelling out the money for one
Man everything on the PS side is going up. The games, the console, and PS+ are all getting price hikes. What is there left to suck dry from the consumers?
If their Japanese players are complaining you know it's serious. I wonder if they'll reverse course and issue an apology in the next few days. Like @IonMagi said in the previous article, Sony were the first to raise the base price of their games and now the first to raise the price of their console. It's really not a good look
@MattBoothDev SR1 was the origin story of the saints and their rise to power in Stilwater. SR2 was about the saints getting back on their feet and regaining control of the city. SR3 was pretty much the same thing but with the added bonus of getting revenge for Gat. SR4 was about....aliens I think
In any case it was a wild ride watching the saints go from humble beginnings of forming to protect their neighborhood to fighting aliens in a simulation. I'm not sure what this reboot is about, but I've heard it has something to do with student loans?
Went and got a Steam key for PC2 and the DLC. Very nice of them to give a heads up about this as lots of other times these games disappear and hardly anyone notices until after its way too late.
@TowaHerschel7 I'm sure DLC will be delisted as well considering they are pretty specific with their licenses. Like having a Porsche or Ferrari specific pack
@truerbluer console users should speak up if they don't want to pay just like PC players did back in 2007 and the way they most definitely will if Microsoft or Sony tried to implement a paywall again. I'm neither a game dev nor network engineer so I don't know how the backend works and where that money ends up going so I won't comment on that. But I disagree that a paywall would deter cheating. There are literal businesses made around cheats for popular online games and a paywall isn't going to stop that. The console's OS security is the main reason why console games don't have cheaters, not because of the online paywall. And what led to the 2011 outage was the vulnerability of a feature on the PS3 that allowed users to install Linux. There's a ton of YT videos on the subject if you're interested. 2011 was over 10 years ago and online security has improved significantly since then.
You're here advocating for PC players to pay instead of wanting Sony to make it free like it used to be yet say it's console players who are getting screwed. In the end it'll be Sony getting screwed when when PC players realize Microsoft, who owns Windows, doesn't paywall their first party games while Sony the newcomer does. As I said, it would be embarrassing and a PR nightmare for them. If you don't want to play online with PC users then disable it, most crossplay games let you do this. To wrap this up I'll just say I'll agree to disagree. I think paywalling PC players is a bad idea, and Sony shouldn't be the one to try it. I enjoyed this conversation with you, have a good one
@truerbluer they're two completely different ecosystems, on top of that the PS3 and Vita had free online, remember when PS+ used to be optional? Instead of the majority speaking up about the change 10 years ago they rolled over and accepted it and even defended it. Now you're saying it should spread to a completely different platform so you can feel better about having to pay?
In your examples the Playstation players aren't the ones getting swindled. I sincerely hope Sony does not remotely attempt to force PS+ on PC users because it will be an absolute PR nightmare for them, and that won't be good when they're just getting their foot in the door on the platform
@Danloaded I've got the trilogy on Steam but never played them. I think they're made by the same dev that made the Risen trilogy, so if you've ever played those games they might be a bit similar. They feel like old school third person RPGs if that's your thing
@Northern_munkey I apologize. Much of my comment wasn't really directed at you personally but more towards the select few of this community. The staff has done a good job over the years cleaning up the comment section but I stand by my statement that this place is an echo chamber...to a certain degree. It was much worse especially once Sony started porting their games to PC. I have seen some people come in to provoke but they're far and few in-between imo and I come here quite often for news. My whole point is I think a few of the regulars here should be a bit more open minded about other people that aren't console owners coming in and engaging with the rest of us. You're doing just fine so I apologize again for the misunderstanding
@Northern_munkey with Sony making this change to their site it's clear that Playstation is now more than just the consoles. And as a Playstation site it's expected of Pushsquare to cover this news now. As a result there will be an influx of new users for better or worse because the Playstation brand is growing and reaching a wider audience. The days of this site being an echo chamber are numbered.
I've always been a Playstation fan since the PS1 but switched to PC when it was cheaper to build one to play the latest games than to buy a PS3 for 599 USD. I've since made my way back to Playstation but I now play on both systems which both have their pros and cons and I've said my opinions in the comments a few times. I've been lurking on this site for years before making an account and I've read all sorts insane comments from some members here regarding other platforms and gamers. Every gaming community has its select few of "elitists" but I haven't seen many of those of the PC community here, yet, but what's there to worry about? I think the staff here do a good enough job removing/banning stupid flame baiting comments like that so I'm not worried. That said if it's an echo chamber you guys want this place isn't it anymore. There's tons of subreddits for that stuff though
Reminds me of the dialog from the E3 2016 Scalebound gameplay. People clowned on it back then too so I'm not sure who the devs are trying to target with this stuff. Not every character can successfully pull off the Spider-Man or Deadpool persona
IonMagi got half the site against him in the comments lol is it really that serious?
Even with the high upfront cost of a PS5 comparible PC this game will sell like all the other Sony ports. Who are you guys trying to convince? I really don't get it.
I for one am glad I can finally delete the game off my PS4 and save some space, meanwhile I'll get to enjoy it on my PC, laying in bed, controller in hand thanks to Steam remote play. Good luck @IonMagi looks like you walked into the fire with this one 😆
I really don't understand why this is getting any backlash at all. If Sony and friends want to dabble in NFTs and whatever else is hot on the block then I'm fine with it so long as it's not shoved in my face and/or in my games
@Wolfie_Pie I haven't seen that console pleb term in so long I thought people stopped using it. Really takes me back to 2012. If you still feel like that about PC gamers in this day and age then you might be in the wrong communities
@LiamCroft Yes, actually I do. And I wouldn't really call that scene all that important when it's at the beginning of a 15 hour game. The scene is like, what, 10-15 minutes into the game?
I personally don't see the need for this remake or whatever it is unless there are technical limitations with the PS4 remaster that they can't work around. That said what is the REAL goal of this? The PS4 version can be played on PS5 and is 60 fps. A part of me says cash grab while the other part of me thinks they're really doing it for PC. Specifically making the TLOU2 engine Windows compatible for future releases
First Reddit, now Twitter. I can't imagine being the person in charge of either of those accounts. When you're representing a company as large as EA online and get destroyed, can't be a great feeling
@Bentleyma they can just put Playstation or PS in the title and clarify it's for PS4/PS5 in the subheadings or first sentence of the article. I agree with Max it's confusing for a lot of stuff posted on here, especially concerning multiplatform games like this. Yes this is a Playstation site...I don't need to be reminded of that in the title of every article
Knowing how certain things play out in the sequel I'm not sure if I want to get this one on any platform. Last time I played part 1 was 10 years ago on PS3. Played through it twice, I think that's enough for me
After Liam's soapbox yesterday, this is great news. Honestly I think E3 should just go back to Atlanta. Staying in California doesn't seem to be doing them any favors
@KayOL77 no worries. I enjoy some of the conversations here. Yes I'm applauding the sales figures while others here are seeing these numbers as negatives. I'm just pointing out that these games are doing well on PC, well enough for Sony to continue their efforts in porting their back catalog. I'll be buying both Spiderman games on Steam and free up some much needed space on my PS4 😁
@KayOL77 I did explain further... I'm saying these games are selling well at the price point they are at considering their age. All of these games can be had for far lower prices on PS4 yet they are all over half a million copies sold on Steam at near full price. Meanwhile others here are shocked by the "low" numbers. I don't know how else to say it? I also don't know how I'm shocked by the wrong thing? Maybe you can explain to me why it's expected these old games being sold for $50 are expected to meet or exceed PS4 lifetime sales with numerous discounts over the years. HZD sales on Steam are still priced higher than the regular PS store price yet it's got over 2.3 million purchases under its belt. That's impressive.
@Cherip-the-Ripper @KayOL77 you guys seem to completely miss my point. The game made its money on console and I'm sure it doesn't take the same budget to port it as it did to develop it. They can charge whatever they want but your comment doesn't invalidate my point at all.
“The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. It's by giving those people a service that's better than what they're receiving from the pirates.” - Gabe Newell
If you've been around awhile you'd know what Steam is best known for. These old games are selling hundreds of thousands of copies at near full price. Yeah that's something to be shocked about, not the sales numbers compared to the platform where it had been available for 4 years prior with numerous discounts. If you guys can't understand that then I can't help you
God of War: a 4 year old game being sold for near full price when new sold 970K copies on PC. Meanwhile you can get a PS4 copy for $20 on the PS store and even less for a disc at retail. Mind boggling how some in here are "shocked" by the "low" numbers. Obviously Sony are happy that their overpriced old ports are selling over half a million copies on a system where one can obtain these games free of cost through a simple Google search.
Also if you check SteamDB, God of War has yet to actually go on sale since being released in January. So those 970K copies are all at the $50 price tag in the span of 2 MONTHS (sales figures linked above are as of March 2022). You guys are picking the wrong thing to be shocked about imo
@Milktastrophe yeah that's not a thing and has never been a thing. Sony knew from the beginning they weren't going to convince PC-only gamers to buy a PS5 from dropping a few games here and there on Steam. As you've said in a roundabout way: people have preferences. And that's perfectly okay. There's no need for hyperboles
I played 100 hours of this game before giving up last year. Honestly I want to get back into it but every time I think about booting it up I just remember how shallow it felt, and I know it will never be the RPG that was showcased in 2018. It's cool people like it now..but it's clear they won't spend 4 more years to pull off a No Man's Sky. And like Anthem, this was just another disappointment with huge wasted potential
"The DLC will supposedly be set in the existing Night City map, but will open up parts of Pacifica that were inaccessible during the main campaign."
I can't help but feel like this is paying for content I already paid for, especially since Pacifica was (might still be) an unfinished underdeveloped wasteland on release
@Titntin when I was younger I definitely loved tweaking and tinkering on my PC, but as I get older I find myself preferring to do that kind of stuff on my car instead lol
So I've gotten pretty lazy when it comes to doing that stuff on PC, but even then I rarely do it at all these days. The only tweaking and tinkering I do now is with mods, and I'm sure you know how that goes when you put a new mod in and the game stops working and you spend hours troubleshooting..I'm getting tired of that too but sometimes I just can't help myself - at least for the moment. You're right the OS doesn't leave you alone, but that's a good thing because it updates a lot of stuff for you automatically. The only drivers I manually download and install now are graphics drivers, and that's because I don't always want the latest one and don't care to have GeForce Experience installed on my system. PC gaming is really streamlined compared to 10 years ago - never mind 20 years ago back in 2002 (crazy how time flies). I get where you're coming from though, and I know it all comes down to personal preference. I wasn't trying to do a platform war or anything like that but just letting you know that you can absolutely get a console-like experience on PC if you desire. Good talking with you. I love nerding out with other gamers every now and then
@Titntin "Sit on the sofa, press a button and be playing a perfectly optomised game in less than a minute is a key console win, and I take it every time."
If what you say is true about your PC then you can brute force just about any game that's out right now and anything else for the next 5+ years - especially with more games incorporating DLSS and FSR. As for the part I quoted, Steam Big Picture & Remote Play does a real good job at that already, and with a 3090 rig you can max out anything out right now with or without upscaling. The lines between the convenience of a console and PC have blurred thanks a lot to Valve's efforts.
Unless you have a really slow home network, I can't see how what you said is a key console win. I love my PS4 and PS3, PS2, PS1 before it, but console haven't really had many key wins for a couple gens now, apart from the price to performance ratio of course. And yes, console games crash and have bugs too. Never had a game crash on a PS2 but have since the PS3 onward
@theheadofabroom For me it seems Paulie went from a goofy, easy-going guy (kinda like the class clown) in the original to a sociopath that hates Ralphie because of his disability. In the original Paulie makes one remark early in the game that Ralphie is an idiot but has a way with cars. He doesn't show any animosity towards Ralphie and treats him as a friend while in the remake there's clear animosity and hatred between the two, and it seems to me it stems from a very ignorant and hateful view from the new Paulie which goes completely against his entire character in the original.
Don Salieri went from the old wise Italian grandfather figure to an Italian-American uncle that's hopped up on way too much caffeine. To me the original personalities are the ones that are more fleshed out, and had far better connections to each other than the remake where it seems more like a clash of personalities. I already explained Paulie and Ralphie, but Tommy and Paulie also don't seem as close of friends as they were in the original because Paulie went from a easy-going guy that looks out and cares for everybody in the family to a straight up sociopathic jerk (keeping it PG13 for the mods).
All in all the remake is a sharp tonal shift from the original and imo not for the better. But I can appreciate some of the changes that were made to flesh out some of the missions and especially the changes done to the city. Now that I think about it if I wasn't a huge fan of the original I would probably love the remake like everyone else, unfortunately they made too many changes to things I feel like shouldn't have been touched. Sorry for writing a mini essay to you, I just really love Mafia lol
Techland seems to be the new CDPR lol This is pretty cool of them to do and comes as a complete surprise. If anyone from Techland happens to read this: Thank you!
Sad to see so many people love the awful remake that just completely changed [destroyed] the personalities of Paulie, Don Salieri, Ralphie, and Vincenzo to name a few, and the little details in gameplay from the 2002 release that seem impossible for them to recreate almost 20 years later. At least they kept most of the original story intact, but couldn't recapture the identity and atmosphere of the original. Honestly felt like I was playing the Walmart version of Mafia instead of the real thing.
I'm not mad, just disappointed. Perhaps a prequel is what I need to come around to the new direction the series has taken.
I'll post the unpopular opinion that JC3 is the best of the series, even better than JC2 in both story and gameplay. The DLC is also the best when it comes to the bavarium wingsuit and the OP weapons that turn Rico into a walking WMD. JC4 is an abomination though. Perhaps Avalanche fell into the same trap Saints Row did and made a game too fun and over-the-top to follow up. Time for a reboot.
@NEStalgia Ah yes, I remember now. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they also own Nier and I completely forgot about Forspoken, so they've still got a handful of IPs under their belt.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales Are Swinging Onto PC
@Milktastrophe yeah that's not a thing and has never been a thing. Sony knew from the beginning they weren't going to convince PC-only gamers to buy a PS5 from dropping a few games here and there on Steam. As you've said in a roundabout way: people have preferences. And that's perfectly okay. There's no need for hyperboles
Re: Sony Establishes Software Business Department in China as PS5 Starts Strong in Country
I feel like this won't age well given the volatility of the current political situation in that region
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Saw a Significant Sales Spike Thanks to PS5 Version
I played 100 hours of this game before giving up last year. Honestly I want to get back into it but every time I think about booting it up I just remember how shallow it felt, and I know it will never be the RPG that was showcased in 2018. It's cool people like it now..but it's clear they won't spend 4 more years to pull off a No Man's Sky. And like Anthem, this was just another disappointment with huge wasted potential
Re: Rumour: Cyberpunk 2077 Leak Confirms First Expansion's Setting, Characters, and More
@Boucho11 I'm not sure why you're asking me that
Re: Rumour: Cyberpunk 2077 Leak Confirms First Expansion's Setting, Characters, and More
"The DLC will supposedly be set in the existing Night City map, but will open up parts of Pacifica that were inaccessible during the main campaign."
I can't help but feel like this is paying for content I already paid for, especially since Pacifica was (might still be) an unfinished underdeveloped wasteland on release
Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon
I love nerding out with other gamers every now and then
Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon
Re: PS4 Firmware Update 9.60 Is Available to Download Now
9.00 is the way to go. No update for me, but thanks for the heads up
Re: Rumour: New Mafia Game in Development, Is a Prequel to the Trilogy
Re: All Dying Light Owners Automatically Upgraded to Enhanced Edition
Techland seems to be the new CDPR lol
This is pretty cool of them to do and comes as a complete surprise. If anyone from Techland happens to read this: Thank you!
Re: Rumour: New Mafia Game in Development, Is a Prequel to the Trilogy
Re: Square Enix Retains Just Cause, Life Is Strange, Outriders IPs
I'll post the unpopular opinion that JC3 is the best of the series, even better than JC2 in both story and gameplay. The DLC is also the best when it comes to the bavarium wingsuit and the OP weapons that turn Rico into a walking WMD. JC4 is an abomination though. Perhaps Avalanche fell into the same trap Saints Row did and made a game too fun and over-the-top to follow up. Time for a reboot.
Re: Embracer Group to Buy Multiple Square Enix Studios and IPs in Huge Acquisition
@NEStalgia Ah yes, I remember now. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they also own Nier and I completely forgot about Forspoken, so they've still got a handful of IPs under their belt.
Re: Embracer Group to Buy Multiple Square Enix Studios and IPs in Huge Acquisition
So apart from Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts what else do they have now?
Re: PS Vita's Worrying PS Store Issues All Resolved
Glad to hear it was fixed. But this is another reminder that the Vita store is living on borrowed time..
