Re: GTA 6 Might Release on PS5 Before the End of Next Year

mvhess

They lost the main writer and innovator of the company. I am in the minority but I couldn't care less about gta vi. I can't imagine how it'll be any different than gta V with better graphics. Rockstar seems to have no interest in making any other than gta anymore. At least give us a ps5 patch for red dead 2.

Re: One of PS5, PS4's Best Exclusive Devs Has Grown to Over 500 Staff

mvhess

@Impossibilium They've just always been a multiple project studio. Santa Monica and naughty dog have always worked on one project at a time (although at least ND is a two project studio now. Not sure about SSM) ... And it shows with all the little details and animations that are completely unnecessary but appreciated nonetheless. It's two different approaches and I don't think one is better than the other.

Re: Sounds Like PlayStation Has Grand Plans for Guerrilla's 'Ambitious' Decima Engine

mvhess

@Loamy I would hope all their studios engines are being updated. Especially the way data is steamed because that ssd is fast! It's kinda crazy when you consider that most of their studios have created in house engines and they all are tailored to what the studio goes best. I'll be honest, I loved the inFamous games but I did not see GoT coming. They really improved that engine and created something truly fanatic.

Re: PSVR2 Horror Afterlife VR May Lead to a Loss of Sleep

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 lol, dude, I've played VR games before. Many in fact.not that it matters. And Jim took over way before psvr came out. Building a second headset, let alone a high quality one, and buying a huge studio known for VR games sure shows they don't care about VR. The fact is that most people don't care about VR. The market was shrinking well before the headset was released. And it's not like it's even close to the most expensive one on the market. It probably will always be a niche thing. So I don't care that you got vr 7 years ago or that you have 130 games. Doesn't change the fact that this new headset is amazing.

Re: PSVR2 Horror Afterlife VR May Lead to a Loss of Sleep

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 lol, Pong... Ps1, you're references are so outlandish it makes me wonder if you're that dumb or if you are just a troll. I'm going with both. You were bragging and gloating a few months ago that we were all stuck in the stone age playing GoW while you were playing these awesome VR games. Now they are like Pong?

Re: PSVR2 Horror Afterlife VR May Lead to a Loss of Sleep

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 I feel like there is far more quality launch games than most consoles have. This is my first VR headset so both Moss games are new to me and GT7 and RE Village are amazing. Also got the saints and sinners games which I haven't played yet but heard good things.. And The Last Clockwinder and Horizon were good

Re: Yes, Sony Helped Optimise Final Fantasy 16 for PS5

mvhess

@cburg LOL, please. Microsoft hasn't nurtured studios. If anything, they have a history of destroying and absorbing them. If it weren't for their Zenimax purchase, which was in the billions, they'd be a mess right now. They need Eisos Montreal to help out on Fable and Crystal Dynamics to help on Perfect Dark and 343 to destroy Halo. Where are these support studios you're speaking of? That's way different than giving a third party studio to make its own game for your platform.

Re: Yes, Sony Helped Optimise Final Fantasy 16 for PS5

mvhess

This is what makes Playstation something I love. Microsoft is just throwing tremendous money at huge companies, with established multiplatform big hitters. Sony nurtures studios. The reason they were able to buy Insomniac for the price they did is because Insomniac wouldn't be the studio it is without Sonys investment and trust. Microsoft is using third party studios to help make some of its flagship titles. Sony has support studios. Look, I have PC game pass and appreciate the value, I just feel like Sony put in the work and Microsoft is trying to bully its way to the top.

Re: Gallery: The Outer Worlds PS5 Remaster Screenshots Show Much Improved Graphics

mvhess

@Acurisur how exactly have fallout 4 and Dishonored been supported. These haven't been updated since Microsoft bought Zenimax. It's a case by case basis clearly. Minecraft has always been multiplatform and is an online title so of course its supported. As I said Psychonauts 2 doesn't have hdr on Playstation and the Outer Worlds was published by Take Two. They aren't just blanketly supporting Playstation ports.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS5 Version Is Getting a New Patch 'Very Soon'

mvhess

@Ravix yeah, all my saves are from next Gen. I didnt load any of my ps4 saves from the cloud. And it didn't do it for the first twenty hours or so. I did notice that my manual saves say version 4 behind them and my autosaves don't. Thanks for the tip. I'll try when I get home. I have been leaving it in a rest state but in my experience (even back on ps4) the Witcher starts to bug out the more times you suspend it.

Re: Sony Assigned Over 150 Employees to Aid The Callisto Protocol's Production

mvhess

A lot of times, the first hour is the last thing done so the least polished. Days Gone was a good example of that. They completely reworked the intro late and it showed. It definitely wasn't indicative of the polish the rest of the game had. But then again, this is the studios first game so you rarely get perfection out the gate. I'm definitely waiting for reviews on this one.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Compared to PS4 Remaster, Has More Detail

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 Yeah I'm excited for that too but Santa Monica was never going to rebuild their engine for this sequel. They didn't want people to wait that long to finish the story. I think building on what's already there is going to make this something special. Enemy variety and bosses suffered in the first game since it took them so long to get the axe mechanics working and the no-cut camera. Basically they built a game engine specifically for that game. I'm excited to see whatever Cory Barlog is working on which will surely be a ps5 exclusive.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Compared to PS4 Remaster, Has More Detail

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 no I'm not new to gaming. I had the NES on release before Super Mario Bros was a thing. Again, completely different Era. I think you're misremembering the launch titles for ps3 and ps4. I already stated that ps5 already has more exclusives than ps4 did in the same time frame. I can't believe you are still going on about this. What exactly do you want GoW Ragnarok to be that it's not going to be? You said it wasn't about the graphics. So what do want? Is Gotham Knights going to be a better game because it's next Gen exclusive? Current Gen for me but next Gen for 80% of the Playstation owners

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Compared to PS4 Remaster, Has More Detail

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 it's nonsensical not whatever you typed. And you're referencing a time when games took way less time and money to make. When game development got longer, look at the Ps4. The first 2 years basically just had Killzone and inFamous from first party. That's basically it. So your argument falls apart rather quickly.
A great game is a great game, whether it's on the Switch, PC, last Gen hardware, Xbox. It's going to be a great game and if you don't want to play it, I couldn't care less. Play nothing until next year when the ps5 exclusives hit.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Compared to PS4 Remaster, Has More Detail

mvhess

@TrickyDicky99 I don't think it matters that GoW is a ps4 game. Santa Monica never disappoints in the graphics department. Although I do look forward to a couple years from now when first party studios are taking full advantage of the ps5 unique architecture. I loved Miles Morales, but every time i was crawling through a vent, I thought, this is a loading screen. Although it does work for the character.

Re: Uncharted, The Last of Us' Bruce Straley Making Game Unlike Any Before

mvhess

@CVCubbington Toxic, no... Hardworking yes. I'm sick of this idea that no one should work overtime since then it creates a sense of obligation that others work overtime. If you want to be great, then it takes hard work. If you work at Naughty Dog, who make some of the most detailed games in existence, then it takes sacrifice. Imagine if someone told Michael Jordan he could only play basketball x amount of hours a day.
