@TrickyDicky99 I already told you I don't play much VR. I shouldn't have said that because it buried my point which is it's estimated that the retention of quest 2 is about 10%. VR is niche. Deal with it. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it
@SonOfClement no you're not the only one. There are plenty of games coming this year for psvr2. Personally, I think third party game makers would be stupid not to release their games on as many platforms as possible. Free to play games, yeah I don't think people buy Playstation for those types of games
@TrickyDicky99 did you just describe yourself? You're the one with the hang up admitting VR being niche... It is.
I already made the point that headset sales have dropped off 40 percent. The quest 2 is selling because of the price. People just want to try it out and play Beat Saber. That 20 million number has not translated to game sales except for a very few select games. Very very few VR games have even sold 1 million copies. Why would any serious VR person buy the quest 2 when it's not even powerful enough to play VRa best games? I may get a Quest 3 in the future but most of the time, I have to have one foot in reality. I rarely get time to myself to be unaware of my surroundings
@TrickyDicky99 Because you're replying to every comment saying it's dead and keep bringing up Meta. There are well over 50 games scheduled to release this year on it and it's only January. Maybe Sony isn't supporting it but it's not dead. Wait, are you that guy who bragged about having over 100 VR games and refused to play GoW Ragnarok because it was also releasing on PS4? I think you are. You're a tool. I forgot to ignore you.
@TrickyDicky99 I didn't argue that point. Doesn't explain why would Capcom would add a free Vr2 mode if it was completely dead. Are you a Meta fanboy?.My point was there is a clear line in the sand on what people will pay. Anecdotally, I know 5 people who have the quest 2 for their kids and they either never use it or only play one game. They got it for the novelty and because it was only around 200 bucks. And the figures back it up as total VR headset sales have plummeted by 40%. The masses don't want better VR, they want cheap VR. Otherwise it's niche
I'm not someone who plays a ton of VR anyway. I'm happy with the library PSVR2 has . I haven't even gotten to half the games I have. Eventually I'll get around the RE 8 & 4. Usually I just play GT7.
@TrickyDicky99 Well, at the very least there is a major cutoff in what people are willing to pay for it. Quest 3 isn't selling well at all according to q4 earnings. Quest 2 outsold it by a significant margin during the holiday season, so clearly the cheaper price point entices people who generally don't play.
@TrickyDicky99 context matters, VR is a very niche community. A console selling 13 million is a total disaster. If Nintendo didn't hit with the Switch, they'd most likely become Sega and only make games. at least those were the rumors at the time.
@StrickenBiged given this company's penchant for the releasing the same game over and over with no upgrade path, I certainly wouldn't be surprised. In fact, I would expect it
@Darth_Stofi Well, the original TLoU was a ps3 game. The PS4 version was just rereleased ps3 version at 1080p. A total remake wasn't necessary for part 2.
@FX102A there is no way they spent ten years making a game they didn't want to make. There would've been multiple Jason Schreier articles about it. The problem isn't even the live service part of it. It's the fact that it's not a very good shooter and the controls are unintuitive. The cutscenes are long and the missions (if you can even call them that) are boring as hell. At least that's what I got out of my time with it. I found myself not even understanding what I was doing aside from the fact that the boss lady told me I had to.
@Discol76 they are excellent games though as long as you're okay with really long cut scenes. I haven't pulled the trigger on no man's sky yet. I have psvr2 as well. Have you played the game without vr? Is it good?
@Discol76 I wouldn't recommend playing them back to back. Most of the mini games are recycled and the combat is very similar. You'll get burned out quick.
I'm sure Atlus will do what Atlus does and rerelease the game in a couple years with some additional content for another 70 bucks with no upgrade path.
@rachetmarvel I'm fine but it rubs me the wrong way that they basically released a game, then added dlc, then charged full price for that dlc. Why aren't people up in arms like they were for the 10$ up charge Sony uses
How many times are they going to milk this game? They have already sold it at full price several different ways. I liked Strikers when I was playing it, but nothing really stuck with me afterwards. All their money and resources should be going to P6 so they can release 3 different versions of that
@itsfoz don't think its TLoU3. Last time Druckman talked about it he said something to the effect that they would only make it if they had an engaging story to tell... And that was fairly recently. There have been rumors for a while that they are working on a sci-fi game though.
They lost the main writer and innovator of the company. I am in the minority but I couldn't care less about gta vi. I can't imagine how it'll be any different than gta V with better graphics. Rockstar seems to have no interest in making any other than gta anymore. At least give us a ps5 patch for red dead 2.
@Impossibilium They've just always been a multiple project studio. Santa Monica and naughty dog have always worked on one project at a time (although at least ND is a two project studio now. Not sure about SSM) ... And it shows with all the little details and animations that are completely unnecessary but appreciated nonetheless. It's two different approaches and I don't think one is better than the other.
@UltimateOtaku91 Insomniac has some truly great animators. It's one thing to have a state of the art performance capture system like Naughty Dog. It's another to animate a game like Rift Apart
@Loamy I would hope all their studios engines are being updated. Especially the way data is steamed because that ssd is fast! It's kinda crazy when you consider that most of their studios have created in house engines and they all are tailored to what the studio goes best. I'll be honest, I loved the inFamous games but I did not see GoT coming. They really improved that engine and created something truly fanatic.
@JB_Whiting yeah, they created an engine specifically for GoW 2018 and then refused for ragnorök obviously. I wonder what the future holds for that franchise. Naughty Dog also has their own engine so no, I would be shocked if they required anyone to use Decima. Sony seems to try trust it's studios. At least the big 5.
@TrickyDicky99 lol, dude, I've played VR games before. Many in fact.not that it matters. And Jim took over way before psvr came out. Building a second headset, let alone a high quality one, and buying a huge studio known for VR games sure shows they don't care about VR. The fact is that most people don't care about VR. The market was shrinking well before the headset was released. And it's not like it's even close to the most expensive one on the market. It probably will always be a niche thing. So I don't care that you got vr 7 years ago or that you have 130 games. Doesn't change the fact that this new headset is amazing.
@TrickyDicky99 lol, Pong... Ps1, you're references are so outlandish it makes me wonder if you're that dumb or if you are just a troll. I'm going with both. You were bragging and gloating a few months ago that we were all stuck in the stone age playing GoW while you were playing these awesome VR games. Now they are like Pong?
@TrickyDicky99 wow, we are all jealous of you. It won't be a flop with a price drop at the holidays. Nobody wants the crap that was ps vr1, what with it's ridiculous controllers, camera, wires, and inferior visual fidelity
@TrickyDicky99 chill man. Are you the guy who wouldn't play GoW Ragnarok because it was cross Gen and was bragging about all the VR games you had? Cool bro
@TrickyDicky99 I feel like there is far more quality launch games than most consoles have. This is my first VR headset so both Moss games are new to me and GT7 and RE Village are amazing. Also got the saints and sinners games which I haven't played yet but heard good things.. And The Last Clockwinder and Horizon were good
@MFTWrecks it's broken though. Unless they released some seriously thorough patches. Watched someone play it and the game just decided that you couldn't do damage to any enemy.
@cburg LOL, please. Microsoft hasn't nurtured studios. If anything, they have a history of destroying and absorbing them. If it weren't for their Zenimax purchase, which was in the billions, they'd be a mess right now. They need Eisos Montreal to help out on Fable and Crystal Dynamics to help on Perfect Dark and 343 to destroy Halo. Where are these support studios you're speaking of? That's way different than giving a third party studio to make its own game for your platform.
@stvevan I'm sure they did. But a new IP is not an easy thing to do. If you don't have the right creative people in place, it doesn't matter how much technical help you get. I am not sure why they showcased it the way they did though
This is what makes Playstation something I love. Microsoft is just throwing tremendous money at huge companies, with established multiplatform big hitters. Sony nurtures studios. The reason they were able to buy Insomniac for the price they did is because Insomniac wouldn't be the studio it is without Sonys investment and trust. Microsoft is using third party studios to help make some of its flagship titles. Sony has support studios. Look, I have PC game pass and appreciate the value, I just feel like Sony put in the work and Microsoft is trying to bully its way to the top.
@Acurisur I should be happy that Microsoft is buying up these huge companies with a long history of multiplatform games because they updated a few games that were already on Playstation?
@Acurisur how exactly have fallout 4 and Dishonored been supported. These haven't been updated since Microsoft bought Zenimax. It's a case by case basis clearly. Minecraft has always been multiplatform and is an online title so of course its supported. As I said Psychonauts 2 doesn't have hdr on Playstation and the Outer Worlds was published by Take Two. They aren't just blanketly supporting Playstation ports.
@BAMozzy That's not true. Psychonauts 2 never got a ps5 version or even HDR on Playstation. They are supporting the games you mentioned because someone else has the publishing rights.
@Ravix yeah, all my saves are from next Gen. I didnt load any of my ps4 saves from the cloud. And it didn't do it for the first twenty hours or so. @MFTWrecks you typically need a dongle for 2.4 ghz connection. It creates a more stable, low latency connection
Re: PS5 Audio Experience Upgraded with New Equalizer, Sidetone Features
@MFTWrecks they use 2.4 ghz wireless for their connection not Bluetooth, hence the dongle. It's not that uncommon in gaming

I don't see why they wouldn't be usable for any headphones. But storing the settings on the headphones might be exclusive to Sonys hardwarw
