@Old-Red It depends which ones you are talking about. A free to play live service game with completely optional monetization may not be your cup of tea, but kids have a game to play with their friends that they don't have to ask their parents to buy. Granted, they are probably going to ask for skins, but they'll also ask for overpriced Nike sneakers
@tselliot It's not a live service. It will not be updated for months and months. It's just a, multilayer add on. The likes of which we used to get in the ps3 era for every game.
This is happening everywhere. Instacart, doordash, Uber... Doesn't make it any less scummy, but anytime you buy something online, just start to assume they have data on your buying trends and you are paying a slightly different price than someone else.
@IOI That simply is not true. What Sony releases run like crap on Ps4? The fact is, with backwards compatibility now a given, they were never going to leave 100+ million ps4 owners in the dust with poor optimization. That's too much money to leave on the table. Even GoW Ragnarok ran really good on ps4
Just stay off social media. I realize you, the author, probably can't because of your job. But for anyone else. I'm blissfully unaware of the next Gen console discourse. I'm someone who loves tech toys so I'll be there day 1 regardless of when.
If they would release remasters of the originals, I wouldn't have a problem with them taking a big swing. It might be kinda cool to experience those epic battles from a different perspective. If not, keep it the same style and redo all the assets, maybe add some content.
@somnambulance I mean, Black Myth was great on PC, but it was just a combat game. This game has more gameplay systems than an entirel library of games. I don't know much about this dev team and how large they are but everything screams too good to he true especially on console.
@Czar_Khastik Umm... Sorry, don't remember any hype on that game. Specifically remember it being a game. Nobody asked for and every time they showed it off, you could see it was terrible.
I am really having a hard time believing this game is for real. How can it have every system that's ever been in a video game? I would love to be proven wrong.
I do not know why this is even necessary. Ps4 version plays fine on ps5. Can't imagine what will be improved besides maybe adding enhanced haptics...slightly faster loading. It's been a long time since I played HK but I don't recall loading times being an issue.
Great that people are already rooting for it to fail and declaring their "opinion' that the art style looks atrocious, horrendous, or whatever other word I've seen as fact. I love cartoons and really appreciate animations that aren't all mocapped and environments that aren't just scanned.
@JustMyOpinion exactly. I'm not sure who all these people are who haven't had to work overtime in their lives. Even with a college degree, a Goldman Sachs employee will be worked until burnout... Of course they'll probably eventually get to a spot where they are rich as hell, but they will be forced to grind their way up the ladder.
@ATaco Of course I do. But I was young and that's the way the US is set up. Most kids do not make a living wage out of high school. I hate that the US has eliminated small business and the mail room to board room possibility. But just saying CEOs make too much money doesn't change anything. All I'm saying is people are acting like this is some kind of anomaly that only exists in video games. Ask any UPS driver or truck driver the last time they worked a 40 hour week. It's a widespread problem in every industry. I would dare say that most of the working class can't support a family without overtime pay.
This complaint falls so flat to me. Ideally, every company should pay their employees well and not force overtime. But that just isn't reality. My friend, who is a welder, had overtime for over 2 years. I've had forced overtime, which while it sucked, I needed the money. I wouldn't call 2-3 months of overtime newsworthy.
Athletes, welders, accountants, stock traders, delivery guys, surgeons, every salaried middle manager, military, detectives. I could go on and on. You don't think they have to work more than 40 hours a week? Give me a break. I would bet Jason Schreiber wasn't raised by a single mother.
@Nintendo4Sonic good for them. They bought up a ton of legacy studios and they released games this year. Not one of them is a game that's going to remembered as truly great. I have no idea what you are even on about. They own half the industry at this point so of course they're going to put out multiple 77 metacritic games a year. They have no system sellers or they would've sold systems. And yeah, get a gaming pc before shelling out a thousand plus dollars for the next Microsoft branded box they release and call it an Xbox. Sony and Nintendo maybe can release 2 first party games a year just because they don't have 50 studios. Meanwhile the actual Xbox franchises not named Forza are dying. Gotta buy up existing IPs to be successful. And not just existing ones but the biggest ones. I just hope my beloved Doublefine isn't the next studio to get canned.
@Nintendo4Sonic lol, there is no reason to buy an Xbox. Pc game pass is half the price and you get all the new releases. When is the last time a Microsoft studio had a game of the year winner? Or nominee? It just so happens their studios have games ready the past two years. There will be a dry spell coming shortly.
Is another NetEase studio now. I can hardly blame them for trying as a Star Wars game these days is no guarantee and I have to imagine the licensing is expensive. Still a shame because I loved Become Human. Hopefully NetEase will let them continue to make the games they are known for but at this point, does anyone even remember them besides us old gamers?
I don't know too many cases that feature both first person and third person where the animations in third person aren't stiff and really bare bones. But off the top of my head, only bethesda games come to mind so I'm happy to be proved wrong.
Who doesn't love a good revenge tale? I haven't started Yotei yet. I'm waiting until tomorrow when I have a good chunk of time to sink into it. Action games and movies often have revenge as the motivation for the protagonist. If you're gong to be killing hundreds of bad guys, there's only so many plot devices to justify it. Its either a big evil bad guy, zombies, revenge, or war...off the top of my head. It's really the way the story is told and having characters you care about that matter IMO
@LazyDaisy lol, blood off? Maybe consider another game. As for story stuff, we're a year out. We already know more about this game than gta vi and that's closer to release, allegedly
@playstation1995 It's not a question of if you're on point. There's no question SH is better than Baby Steps, but it isn't better than Resident Evil so should be scored lower. Once again, you missed my point. But critical debate doesn't appear to be your stronge suit.
@playstation1995 You guys are ridiculous. A review score doesn't indicate one game is better than another. The new Fifa or whatever they call it now got a 7. Are you expecting them to compare that to SH and say, nah it's not as good as that game, has to be a 5?
@Scottyy I disagree about your Silksong take. While I personally wouldn't put it up there, I have to appreciate anything hand drawn in a world dominated by photogrammetry and mocap. Me, personally, I think TLoU Part1 and 2 take the prize. But most of the games mentioned, you could make a case for
@Noone2025 I what way? In no way was I led to believe this was a Playstation exclusive. The only time it's mentioned is in the title, and this is a playstation website. They arent going to bother listing all the platforms it's available on
@KoopaTheGamer It would be nice to get something. Currency which I've already had to spend way too much time farming, at the very least, would've been nice. Or a game changing pendant... Something. I mean when you complete some difficult platforming sections off the beaten path, there's always something waiting for you.
