@nessisonett The problem with a gameplay trailer is that it will most likely be taken from the beginning of the game... Which will most likely resemble the gameplay of 2018...which will create the narrative that its just like dlc.

@IonMagi I'm sure if Sucker Punch wanted to make another Sly Cooper, they'd be allowed to do so. There was a Ratchet and Clank game, Astro Bot, and Sack Boy all in the first year of the console so while, yes, Sonys bread and butter are story focused games, there's room for platformers.

@patronmacabre My only experience was with Persona 5. Thankfully I looked at a guide before playing Royal because I didn't realize my repurchase would've been meaningless unless I leveled up my relationships with certain characters by a certain date. A next Gen port is kind of meaningless as the games art style and gameplay really doesn't need 60 fps. I'm assuming it runs at 30 on ps4. Been a while since I played it.

Why does Atlus not get crap for rereleasing this game constantly? You're almost better off not buying a Persona game for years because they will release a longer, better version years down the line at full price with no upgrade path.

@Bez87 you're right. I don't think out of the gate it's going to be anything ground breaking. The question that will be answered in time is if they put resources into it and continue to make deals with publishers.

@Martsmall I'm not sure what hype you were referring to. The announcement was just a blog post and everyone was underwhelmed. You have to keep in mind how much resources and time it took Xbox to get their backwards compatibility working with enhancements. Basically had to go back to each game and do extensive testing.

Frankly, whatever the service is, I'll check it out and if I like it, I'll get it... If not, oh well. I'm happy to support most of Sony’s first party studios as they are generally wonderful to their fans. Sucker Punch, Insomniac, Santa Monica and Naughty Dog always deliver and celebrate the community. If one of the other studios delivers a great game, well all the better but I don't understand nit picking and complaining about every little thing.

@RubyCarbuncle exactly. It waters down the product. When a game is designed for a specific, customized hardware, you can get something truly special.

@Divergent95 Umm, investing heavily in studios, procuring some of the most talented people in the industry and keeping them. You look at the well documented development troubles of Halo, Fable, Perfect Dark, etc and you realize talent really matters. Meanwhile insomniac turns out blockbuster AAA games every 2 years.

@Rural-Bandit I live about 20 minutes from Bethesda and know many people that worked there as play testers. Wish nothing but the best for them.

@Rural-Bandit You bring up some good points about Square and SF but I think you are wrong about GT7. It's the studios that decided the monetization. And they didn't buy Spider-Man. First of all they own the rights to the character but more importantly they invested millions to have it made. Insomniac wouldn't be the Insomniac we know today without Sony investing in them and letting them do their own thing. And insomniac gave so much free content to the original Spiderman. Same with guerilla and GoT. I don't see Sony coming down with an edict of the monetization of GT7.

@Rural-Bandit and just to be clear, I don't play any Bethesda or Activision games. I'm more of an Arcane or Doublefine type of person. Couldn't care less about CoD or whatever else Activision publishes. Although Starfield could be great.

@Rural-Bandit You don't seem to get it. When they become like Netflix and 99% of it is algorithm based *****, then you'll understand. Somehow you think it's a good thing that Microsoft is throwing around billions of dollars to take beloved franchises that have always been multiplatform and making them exclusive to a subscription service is a good thing. Microsoft has money but they don't have the love of games that nintendo and Sony has. How many studios have either left or been ruined by Microsoft? They had one of the best games of the year last year in Psychonauts 2 but did zero advertising for it. I can't understand anyone who is a shill for huge corporations that buy up and ruin so many things.

@Rural-Bandit I don't mean free but how much money gets reinvested in the company...how are people going to get sales bonuses if there aren't sales? None of this is known

@Rural-Bandit Elden Ring just sold 12 million copies at full price. This will allow that studio to grow in ways it never could before. Now I know this is an outlier but I find it hard to believe that Bethesda is going to be given 7 years and a hundred million dollars to make one game a generation and be free on game pass.

How do we know it's good for developers? Sure, potentially more people play their games, but if they aren't filled with micro transactions, how do we know they are adequately compensated?

Who cares about trophies? I just finished Breath of the Wild and not once did I feel like I needed a trophy for doing something.

@BAMozzy Except you own nothing with game pass. I hate streaming services. This trend of every company in the world wanting a piece of your monthly check without actually giving you anything is insane. Soon you'll have algorithm based gaming like Netflix does algorithm programming .

At least they aren't Nintendo. I still can't find Mario Kart 8 for under 50 dollars, even used.

@GorosBat I think ultimately it comes down to the fact that Sony has allowed each publisher to handle a ps5 upgrade how they see fit. For first party games, its a 10 fee. Everyone else handles it differently. I'm not sure why people get so upset. If you're paying more than 25-30 dollars a year for ps plus, you're doing it wrong.

@Fenbops I'm not even sure you have to upgrade. The ps4 fame on ps5 already runs at 4k 60fps with almost no loading.

Kinda sucks but 20 dollars for the expansion isn't bad. Atleast there is an upgrade path. Can't say the same about Persona 5 Royal.

@Talon_Zanarkand Somehow I only read your last paragraph. I was simply pointing out that the first party games so far aren't just resolution bumps. They incorporate all the ps5 features. But true next Gen experiences won't come until mid cycle. I think we're essentially saying the same thing. Horizon and GoW were never announced as PS5 exclusives.

@Talon_Zanarkand you don't know that to be true. Insomniac, for example, has completely different technologies and strategies at work for how hair is rendered for ps4 and ps5 versions of Miles Morales. It's not simply higher res. Game engines have to be completely reworked to take advantage of the new hardware. These games you all are complaining about started development a while ago.

@Richnj I was speaking of after ratchet. And no way is GoW coming this year. Jason Schreier already said it's been delayed internally and will be announced publicly when they have something to show. I think HFW will be out holiday 2021 based on every single game getting delayed

@Richnj I disagree. They want you to stay engaged with the game so won't sell it on the secondary market. Or they want to make a game so great you won't want to sell it. Considering their next 70$ game is presumably Horizon Forbidden West which is likely 6 months away, I highly doubt that is the case

@trev666 Who cares? Don't you play the game for the graphics, game play and story? I just don't get people caring about arbitrary trophies. Especially those people that call themselves trophy hunters. Playing a game simply because you can automatically get 3 platinum by importing your save cross Gen isn't impressive and I couldn't care less how many platinum trophies some one has. It breaks immersion. Like I'm going to jump off this cliff and die because there is a trophy for it.

Just because it wasn't given the green light now, doesn't mean it will never be. Considering how Sony ended the ps4 cycle, we're years away from titles from their big studios, unless they have been expanded into multiple teams. So it makes sense to want a quicker development time for their smaller studios.

@thefourfoldroot because they aren't curating their content for just you. Eventually most ps4 games will have been on psnow at some point in time. So you're saying all those games are off limits because you have both services? And Days Gone is no longer on psnow so they arent selling it to you twice. You think Xbox Gold only gets games that were never on game pass?

@thefourfoldroot what are YOU on about? Days Gone is no longer on psnow. It is a rotating slate of games compared with having the game as long as you want. Just reupped my plus to 2023 for 27 dollars. It's already paid for itself.

@ATaco because only a tiny fraction of people have the system so it isn't going to sell well. Plus it takes additional time to incorporate all the ps5 features into the ps4 game.

@ATaco Dude it doesn't matter. Sony's model has always been to reduce the price after its been out for a while. Would you rather that game start at 70 and come down in price over time, or be like Nintendo, where Mario Kart 8 is still 59.99

@Amppari I doubt that. Once more people have ps5s the prices will go down quicker, but at this time, ps5 games are holding their price. Ignoring the awful Destruction All Stars

It's funny, people all up in arms about crunch and nonpaid overtime but are upset at a 10 dollar price increase on exclusives. You can't have both. If the game designers ever unionize, all games will be 70 dollars
