@MaccaMUFC Microsofts track record isn't exactly great when it comes to this. Sony seems to allow the studios the time and freedom to do what they want. Microsoft bough Rare in 2002 and what do they have to show for it.
I have no problem supporting Insomniac. Game prices have been stagnant for a long time. And considering all the free support they gave spiderman, I respect the hell out of them. Now if it's a 10 hour game, I'll have to reassess my thinking.
@RBMango I'm pretty sure it's like Bugsnax was. You have 2 months to claim it, then it won't be free anymore. But as long as you claim it to your library, it's free
@nessisonett It's also important to realize that most of these games were not designed specifically for these next Gen systems. Those third party games will come and be amazing no doubt on both systems.
@Octane Lol, Yeah, that was literally a stream of thought. By the time I got to the end I was like, shoot, I think I'm thinking of Remedy's deal. But I was too lazy to look it up.
@Octane I think you're wrong on this. I believe Insomniac bought the rights to sunset overdrive before the Sony acquisition. If I'm right, Sony could absolutely release Sunset Overdrive on Ps5. Unless I'm confusing this with Remedy buying the rights to Alan Wake.
@grahamd yeah, and GTA V. How many people paid full price for that game twice? Millions I would presume since it didn't go on any kind of sale for the longest time. I'll be curious to see what the price is for the spiderman 'upgrade'
@Orpheus79V I'm not referring to games coming out this fall that are built for cross gen. We're talking about a game that was built specifically for ps4 that is over 2 years old
@grahamd why is this so confusing to people? These "free upgrades" are just resolution patches. The spider-man remaster will incorporate the instant loading, 3d audio, haptic feedback and probably Ray tracing. I'm sure we will learn more closer to what is probably a December release. Having said that, I don't think I need to play Spider-man again having played through it twice already.
@Shinobi1Kenobi Get over yourself man. $400 is not a lot of money to me. And with my internet connection, it doesn't take longer than 10 minutes to be able to start playing most games. I'm not getting it to one up my piers lol. I am excited about 3d.audio and no load times and the inevitable graphics increase and I like Sony games. What difference does it make to you?
@Shinobi1Kenobi I'm in the US where new releases always cost $59.99, now they appear to be $69.99. Having said that, I only really buy Sony first party games at release. The rest I buy on their regular sales. You are clearly upset about this so buy an Xbox and get games pass.
@Shinobi1Kenobi I only saw games listed as 10 dollars higher. Is 10 bucks extra really a make or break price point for you? If you've been paying attention with Sony doubling down on big blockbuster games, you had to expect a price increase. AAA 3rd party games will do the same. It's been a long time coming.
@God_of_Nowt I feel like some people take a weird pride in how many games they have and like to show it off. There is no need to have 30 games on your system at any one time.
My question is, if I play my Spider-man game or any of my ps4 games for that matter, will I at least get the ps4 pro upgrade? Because I would be satisfied with that having not played any of my games in 4k on my new 4k tv. Anyone know the answer here?
@Dubbicakes that may be true as it's a brand new studio, but I just wouldn't call them lazy. As with most studios, the first game can be a bit of a crap shoot. But if it does play good, I'll get it because I didn't play the original.
@Dubbicakes well I wouldn't say fortnites graphics looks great or all those crap mobile games you're talking about that 10s of millions of people play look anything less than garbage.
@Dubbicakes The camera, controls, combat, animations, and dialogue were all redone. And it was rebuilt in the Anvil engine which apparently didn't accommodate the linear nature and time bending very well.
@Dubbicakes Actually, nevermind, it was a stylistic choice. They had at peak 170 people working on it and it's been in development for 2-1/2 years. This according to the head of development. He said they didn't want it to look like other Ubisoft game. So, you may not like it but you can't say rebuilding the game from the ground up is lazy You can read more on wccftech
@Dubbicakes what are you talking about. The bare minimum would've been to just upscale it to 1080p. You have to build sets for mocap, it's not just getting your face scanned. If anything, they probably didn't have a huge budget or reasonable deadline to make it AAA
@Steel76 I agree. Maybe the cartoony art style is turning people off but the environments look fine and as long as the game play is fun, 40 bucks isn't a bad price. Having not played the original, I'm looking forward to this.
@Dubbicakes it's not lazy. If you watch the video, they re-recorded the dialogue, and mocapped the game. You may not think it looks good but it's not because of laziness.
I'm not sure what more you could expect for $5 a month, or if you're smart and buy on sale, $3.50ish a month. I buy enough games on sale each year that the ps plus discounts probably pay for the subscription. Plus recently got Soma, Yakuza Kiwami, and now The Witness, so I still think the value is there.
@jly1987 Well, they scrapped the single player game because they don't believe in them and tried to rush together an open world game reusing the assets because "It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design". It was doomed to fail at that point. Only 5 years left on this terrible exclusive rights contract...sigh
@porhawj2016 They should release the games when they are done. It's only been a little over a year since Lost Legacy released. I'd be surprised if LoU2 is any time before the end 2019/early 2020.

@thefourfoldroot yes, this. Only about 4-5 million ps5s out there last I checked... Which was a few weeks ago.

@koffing I would seriously doubt they are part of the same game. More like if you order the ultimate edition, you get a code for the remastered
