We’re just a couple of months away from launch, and God of War Ragnarok news is imminent. Game Informer has revealed the cover of its latest issue, and the hotly anticipated PS5 and PS4 follow-up is taking centre stage. “In the upcoming sequel, Kratos and Atreus must stave off a preordained catastrophe, calling on old and new friends to succeed against Asgard and, hopefully, prevent all-out war,” the blurb reads.
The preview will explore the “most significant changes coming to the action and exploration loops”, as well as introduce “Kratos’ tools, a never-before-seen dwarven realm that feels lived in, the unprecedented number of accessibility features available at launch, and some quality-of-life updates, including new navigation mechanics”. That’s a lot of information – especially when you consider this game has largely remained a secret for so long.
Game Informer editor Andrew Reiner added that the publication has “roughly four minutes of new footage to share”, although it’s unclear exactly when that will air. Still, it’s exciting to know that after years of silence, Sony is finally about to properly pull back the curtain on arguably one of its most anticipated titles of all-time. Who’s ready?

HALLELUJAH!
Finally! I hope we see some major improvements, particularly in boss fights!
EDIT: I think I have been subscribed for Game Informer digital for more than 6 months and I have NO CLUE how to read the digital issues here in europe. It sends me to gamestop site or wtv. Any help?
Wow good get for Game Informer. I'm a little surprised they were able to get such a high profile cover story with all the unfortunate luck they had recently. Good for them.
As for the game it's about time we got some details! Looking forward to what they got.
No ps showcase?
Damn you would think with all these bad news that they would fight it with "we have the most high production and amazing games than any other console" huh?
Kratos wants to "prevent" all out war? No mate. Get the war on.
@CapGod @Korgon so for the peeps who have been living under a rock (like me), what bad news has happened to Game Informer?
@colonelkilgore
They had some pretty substantial layoffs recently since Game Informer has the unfortunate circumstance of being owned by Gamestop.
I don’t want to watch it, but I’m going to watch it.

🐐The g.o.a.t 👑 is here.oh yeah cant wait for the gameplay and another masterpiece.word up son
@colonelkilgore
I meant sony
It’s time for, God Of War.
Hope this gets GOTY, much as Elden Ring is a great game to some, I haven’t played as can't understand why they don’t bother to make the effort to put difficulty modes in the game.
If they had I would have purchased and played and probably massively enjoyed. I know I’m missing out but can’t stand it when a game is to difficult and to me they are just stubborn by doing this.
I am missing out because they can’t be arsed or to stubborn, that really frustrates me as I love open world exploration games.
@peewee78368
Sony bad news.
Must be a showcase either this week or next.
@Korgon ahh okay, we’ll seems like Sony may have done them a solid… which sounds like it was needed.
I'm gonna try and avoid this news.
PUSH SQUARE
Please, for the love of Odin, keep your headlines as spoiler free as possible. Pretty please!
@Dezzy70
I disagree with you there.
Not all games are supposed to cater to everyone.
I haven't played it either but I'd rather they stuck to the principles of the game, than bend those principles after launch for a few extra sales.
This is how you break the internet and sell another million PS5 😅
Ready!
Sony letting game informer show off god of war Ragnarok doesn’t mean Sony won’t have a showcase this year. some of you here reaching just to hate on PlayStation 😂 lol
@Dezzy70 I’ve said this to a lot of people on here, but I recommend the game for you. Elden Ring isn’t exactly for someone that loves Souls games. It’s a truly unique experience that offers the player the opportunity to find their own path. Is it a challenge? Yes, but the challenge can be mitigated through skill development, exploration, and figuring out a build that works best for you. It’s a truly excellent game, one of the few 10/10 games that I can think of. This does come from someone that did not at all like Souls games at all. PS3 Demon’s Souls is the first game I’d ever returned to Gamestop. I did not enjoy Bloodborne when I got it on PS4 and dropped the game early on. I don’t know if it’s because there’s freedom to Elden Ring or because there’s a social multiplayer element to the game, but I was amazed with the title start to finish. It changed my mind on Souls games. In fact, where I felt Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne were frustrating before, I’d gone back to them and had built the skill where they both felt easy initially. Elden Ring gave me the opportunity to reevaluate an entire genre of games I’d dismissed and I’m really happy the game did that for me. I recommend you at least try the game in some capacity. Openly and honestly experience it for yourself and see if it’s for you.
I have no interest in buying a PS4 game in 2022
@Dezzy70 agreed… I immediately turn the page when I read about a game being brutally difficult. It’s great for those who like that sort of thing, but just not for me.
I'm really torn. I want to watch it but I want to be surprised when I play it. I'm probably gonna ignore this one.
@Starkei God of Preventing War
@playstationgamer3919
has there been any hints anywhere for one? i have only really seen fan hopes for one...... me included
@dezzy70 @somnambulance
there is cheese methods for many bosses. that can help with frustration. but i get both side of argument. personally id like a mix. tricky souls like bosses and larger monsters. but the cannon fodder a bit less of a ballache where not needed to be as perfect.
and because ER is great i dont now want others following with'like' games doing worse combat but no difficulty. which can be a poor decision as reduces plyer base.
Forbidden west was game informer cover but also got a state of play. Surely there’ll be one for this too
@Atreus97 with a name like that I'd keep a "loki" look out lol
@TrickyDicky99 good luck playing all of 3 games then. Cause 99% of games coming out have ps4 versions
@Atreus97 Even clicking on this article was fraught with peril. Time to bunker down and line our walls with tinfoil. Stay safe out there.
@Dezzy70 elden ring can be made as easy or as hard as you wish..i found it quite hard at first but once i learned how to use all the buffs and talismans you aquire and how to use the ashes of war effectivley i started destroying those blighters that at first i deemed beyond my skill set..back on track this game looks amazing and i cant wait for some more kratos time..hope you can give that whingy little kid a good clip round the ear this time as he did my head in the other game..
@Atreus97 well said! Couldn't agree more.
Looks like a ps4 game for sure. I liked the first iteration but it was repetitive and lacked depth.
Considering how late into next Gen this last. Gen game is releasing, i hope there are massive. Improvements in the Ps5 version, especially considering it appears to have zero improvements to the engine from the last game, down to the animations even.
I just don't understand the holding back and catfishing like behavior of Sony and its studios. Show the damn game if you are proud of years of work.
Don't be cryptic and stay silent up until a month or few before release. It's ridiculous and creates false hype and feels deceptive and based off fear and avoidance of criticism that may affective profits.
@get2sammyb Was Atreus left handed in the first one? Looks left handed in the picture ...
@FindMeCampin I haven't bought a single game outside of PSVR since buying my PS5 3 months ago. Just playing my backlog and games given away with PS Plus.
If it's a PS4 game then it's an automatic no buy.
@TrickyDicky99 that has got to be some of the dumbest reasoning I’ve ever heard. What’s wrong with ps4 games? Especially when they also have ps5 versions that run much better. They’re still games regardless. You’re really going to miss out on amazing experiences because it’s not ps5 only?
How many PSVR games do you own? I have around 130. If you don't own PSVR and a ton of PSVR games then you're missing out on amazing experiences.
Or maybe not everyone is interested in the same things. PS4 is ancient tech, when a new gen starts it 's time to move on. There is no way I'm paying for games designed around 9 year old hardware
@TrickyDicky99 Are you going to come to every comment section about this game and say the same thing? And literally nobody cares that you have 130 PSVR games. It's laughable how childish you are. My apologies if you are an actual child.
Yes, just like how other people always post how they can't wait for this game.
Yawn Started the original PS2 games, and off shoots, the PS3 end of the trilogy, and the ported vita versions. I was 20 something and now almost 40. I miss the old days when new games, ideas and enthusiasm for original ip's were fresh.
I'm getting too old for this shxt!
