@get2sammyb it may look authentic, and I have no problems with the ad on the ring canvas floor, but it’s not acceptable swiping through the action sequences of game. And the tactic of doing so - of adding in after the game reviews - is totally planned to create the quietest kerfuffle is quite Machiavellian.
I remember EA putting in adverts for football boots (Predator?) back in FIFA ‘93 on the Amiga and Megadrive, but it wasn’t that bad.
Or is it just a reemergence of their “if it’s in the game IT’S IN THE GAME” slogan?
It’s the tactics rather than the ads I guess which are the most underhand.
@Mad001 I discovered these crisps when I ended up with Irish in-laws; they are a better crisp than Walkers! I prefer their smokey bacon but t’other half is a cheese & onion stalwart.
You would have a dust problem with Kings though!! (And very cheesy they are too!!)
I normally add the plus games to my library and get around to them eventually - I’ll even try the two in the ‘simulator’ month. Not this time. I have no interest in battle royale games and I lost interest in this style of fighting game a long time ago.
I’m not criticising either games’ quality or perceived value; I just have no interest in the genre.
Not much of a birthday present for me, these September games!
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L I did to the level below moderate and watched a few YouTube videos too but it got SOOO annoying I had to put it down. I’ll try again when less annoyed!
I’m giving TLoU part 2 a breather as I can’t get past <spoiler> and it’s doing my nut in!
So I’m trying Marvel’s Avengers beta as I got a code as I’m a virgin media customer. It’s not bad from what I’ve played so far, but clearly it’s not a direct replacement for the films and it’s not got the polish of Naughty Dogs’ game. It may be a buy for the PS5 when it’s been discounted ...
Out of the two DC games, I’m more interested in this one than Suicide Squad, purely because I’m a Batfan. Still; looks like I’ve got two potential purchases lined up for when I buy a PS5 ...
I’m interested. Not cared about the films, but given how much I enjoyed the Arkham games, this is on my ‘will buy’ list until I find out its Destiny, but for DC ...
My first reaction was "not ANOTHER COD game", but then I remembered that I was going to buy this, given [for me], the game only being single player was a selling point. So, technically a good month for that, but I have no interest in the other game. Still; can't grumble too much (got plenty to be playing from BackLogLand) ...
@Rob_230 that's my thoughts exactly - and not just for the PS4 games, but also the PS3 and Vita ones. I bought into the Playstation gaming library for their exclusive single-player games and I'm still seeing plenty of that upcoming.
If Sony react in a pro-consumer, positive manner to whatever MS ends up doing, then fantastic (as it's still not been confirmed what Ms are actually doing yet), but I'm not going to whip myself up into a frenzy over this. My older PS machines still work, I have a truckload of games (bought and with Plus) and my intention to buy a PS5 isn't diminished.
PS+ including PSNow for £50-60 a year (as suggested above) would be a good one for me. I'm not expecting the price to stay the same if fundamentally more is added.
From a consumer perspective, having “everything” (online+game pass+xcloud) in a monthly fee will seem like an easy thing and many won’t think / realise it’s actually more. But that’s for Microsoft to worry about.
Will Sony do anything similar? PS+ and PSNOW merged would be the nearest equivalent and again that would seem like a good deal for many people. This then drops the duplicate “free” game scenario as what has happened in the past and for both services, the online “paywall” will invariably get masked as one of many features for a monthly fee.
I wouldn’t say no to that, purely as I’ve had PS+ for A number of years now so many of the games exist in PSNOW and there’s plenty I still want to play. I benefit from the cloud saves but I rarely do online multiplayer. So it could work for me
I was a ‘nah, maybe down the line’ only because I’m still chugging away at TLoUPtII and have a large backlist I want to complete before I get my grubby hands on a PS5. I will look forward to playing Ghost on that, along with some other current-gen games I’ve not got, like the last GoW.
All in all, I expect to be very happy when I do get round to playing Ghost !
I’m at my in-laws’ home across the pond in Ireland, so I’ve brought my Vita and enjoying some peaceful farming in Stardew Valley. May test their internet by trying to remote play & connect to my PS4Pro !
It really does depend on the game. I’m prepared to pay up to £55 for brand new AAA disc games. I’ve done this for just four since I got my PS4 in launch year but I’d never pay that amount for digital games - I’ll wait for the sales.
If prices do rise for PS5 gen games, I’ll just be a little more savvier with my purchases and be grateful I’ve got a large backlog!
@Dange good idea!!! Yes to MM; Chaos, Dizzy, Pac-Mania and a lot of Ocean games were my go-to choices, even if Ocean just followed the "bloke walking around shooting people" template for a lot of them!
looks fine to me - although I'll just buy a PS5 which works! I'm not too precious about the colours; I bought a yellow Switch Lite, a black vita and a white psp. I think a green & red PS5 would be quite funky! Or sickly ...
@Dange cheers! I'm typically a single-player, story-led gamer as principally I'm really really cack at multiplayer games! Growing up, "multiplayer" meant "coach gaming on the Spectrum or Amiga" for me ... it was easier to win those games as you could nudge your mate in the ribs to distract him!
Hopefully, all the first-party PS4 games will get "PS5patches", which did the same kind of effect for PS4Pro patches. Although my baseline expectation is that I can use my digital or disc PS4 library on my PS5 with no hassle. Any improvements / enhancements is a bonus.
I'm interested; never played a Turok game but whenever someone mentions the franchise I always end up thinking about the N64 version. I hope this turns out to be a good, quality version and if reasonably priced, I think I'll give it a try.
@Leroy1985 "ramming it in your face?" hardly! Have you actually thought about what you've written? Having a person being affectionate to their partner is not "ramming it in your face".
If you can't cope with that, there are other problems to deal with. And no, it's not "ruining games".
ND spent many years with the Uncharted series having Nathan getting frisky with one lady or another. Or any of the other games featuring heterosexual characters who have liaisons or romances etc. I don't see that being an issue, as a gay man, but applying your viewpoint to that scenario, that was also "ramming it in my face".
Have some tolerance and perspective. We're talking about videogames here. Just be nice to people. It's not difficult.
@Leroy1985 nope. You have no basis for that assumption. I don’t believe ND have an “agenda like that” - this is one game series (2 games + 1 DLC to put into scope).
Gaming is about many, many different things, and it’s good to have diversity and representation. There’s no “quota system” in place. The fact that Ellie is a lesbian in a game I have enjoyed (and still am as not completed it yet) doesn’t make me any less of the 45 year old man I am, nor do I think “Jesus, another game with a lesbian protagonist - what message ARE they planting here?”
This game features a number of characters of various sexualities and types, some of which you can control; if you’re that offended by this premise, there’s plenty of other games you can play. You’re not forced to play this one.
@get2sammyb a “young Sully” set of games would work for me; keeps it linked to the main uncharted brand but can go down an entirely different road and style
so the main two games are of good, solid quality. However for me personally, I'm not interested in NBA, I already have Rise and Erica ... well it may be enjoyable, but it's not going in my 'must play' backlog, which is substansive enough.
@Kdog yes. I’m torn between wanting a fully remastered-to-the-hilt version for PS4 and just being able to play it in handheld mode. Which if it came out on PS4, I could via remote play on my vita. Hmmmm!! Still want a switch version !
I’m interested. Was mildly put off by the cartoony gfx at the start then warmed up when I saw Arcee blast Soundwave just before Prime and Megatron squared off.
Glad it’s about G1 transformers; perhaps it’s my age (aka old), but never really clicked with the Bay films and that style of TF.
Agree with the other comments about Devastation though! Got it with PS+ and enjoyed it!!
Ever since I got my PS3 back in 2010 I’ve rarely been able to find the time to go back and replay games in their entirety again (impulse purchases and PS+ are to blame for my backlog).
However I’ve tried a bit harder with my PS4. I’ve gone thru the Uncharted games twice and also Gauntlet. I’m regularly playing Resogun and I’ve played Zombie Army Trilogy on/off for the last five years.
I genuinely wish I had the time and skills to get through many of my favourites to replay in full and at a different difficulty level / new game plus modes, but as I can play PS4 on PS5, that’ll give me some chance!
Retail-wise, the main consoles came from Game (I didn’t buy any of them day one); HMV had a deal on the Vita. I’ll use Play-Asia, ShopTo and Amazon for physical games, but I’ve got a large digital backlog. I’ve had the odd game from a CEX in Crossgates near me in Leeds, as it’s had some unusual titles there.
@DonJorginho I’ll see if I can get one from a bricks n mortar shop (ooo the novelty!) but only if there’s a decent bundle. I’ve bought all my machines from real shops since PS3 (so that, Vita, PS4 then Pro) and I think I’ve just been lucky tbh. I’m not paying over the odds at Game if I can get a decent bundle from Amazon etc
@DonJorginho i agree. I’m currently saving on this premise. I’m expecting to lay out around £500-£525 on a bundle (ie 1 game + 2 controllers). Console +1 controller £450-£465ish.
Two I’ve not owned - but thought about SW a couple of times. I’m not that keen on multiplayer but as both games have a campaign element I’ll give em a go.
These won’t please everyone (plus games rarely do), and I’d have preferred two different genres, but you can’t argue they’re not AAA!
I've dusted off the laptop and booted up some nostalgia in the form of some Spectrum games! I've been playing Dizzy, Treasure Island Dizzy (having only one life is a right £$@#), Cyclone and Feud. I'm also plugging away at the GBA version of Final Fantasy (yes, the first one!) and in the modern era, making my way through the latter part of UC3, Drake's Deception, via the Nathan Drake collection on the PS4. I'm overdue some PSVR time, so I may get a bit of Astro Bot, Blood & Truth and Bound played tomorrow.
It's a shame that magazines (and certainly computer magazines) are a dying breed. I remember the joy with going to my newsagent, buying Your Sinclair, Crash, Sinclair User, then ACE, then Amiga Power, Amiga Format ... I used to spend a fortune on them! It was great reading the news, reviews - the only way to find out about games back then! I also had the first 2 years' worth of Edge and Retrogamer (I was even in Retrogamer when I maintained my old Spectrum gaming website). Aaaah reminiscing ...! Like many people, I get my news from sites like this, for free, so it's clear to see the rapid decline of the printed magazine (which has happened for at least a decade). It is a shame, though.
I pre-ordered and have got it installed on my tv and ipad. I'm quite surprised at the 4K / UHD content it claims to have. Even if I just watch all the Star Wars and MCU content, that would last me for the whole year. Add in the other stuff I'll watch, I can justify the £50 pre-order cost even just for myself.
@LiamCroft I was thinking the same, as I didn't have a PS4 when it launched, but "bought" all the PS4 games as I knew I'd get one sooner rather than later. Resogun is still one of my most played games! (I still haven't played Contrast though ...)
My 2p's worth is that we'll end up getting one new PS5 game (indie-originated, like with the PS4 or possibly an AA-title), but perhaps an additional PS4 game, given the B/C nature of the Five. Still; I expect we will find out from Sony in due course.
I’ll be disappointed, naturally. That said, I’ve got a stupidly large PS3 and PS4 backlog, so I can happily plough through that until the Five comes out. Might even be able to afford a second controller and a couple of games by then, too!! 😉
Although SotC was part of the PS3 plus games about a million* years ago, I think I’ll give it a go now. Not sure about Sonic, but will be worth at least a ten minute go - can’t do me any harm to try!
*okay, June 2013 isn’t quite “a million years ago”, but it feels a lifetime away!
I'm gearing up for a £450-£500 price, though if the latter, I'd like a [half-decent] pack-in game as part of that, or a promotional PS+ sub included (such as 3 months "free") etc.
PS4 back-compatibility is a must (I just don’t have the room for a third PlayStation under my tv!). PS3 would be wonderful but I’m pretty much convinced that’s a no. Not bothered about PS2 or PS1 b/c as any PS1 I can play on my PS3 and I’m not bothered about PS2 games as I don’t have any.
I’m happy with waiting. I’ve got a vast pile of backlog to work through and aside from one or two games, I’m buying nothing now until I get a PS5 when they’re out.
Ultimately, I don’t have a gaming PC nor do I want one (just personal choice). I’ve got PlayStations and for me to be guaranteed to play the next set of exclusives, I’m going to buy a PS5.
People may refer to the exclusive-ness of games being diluted, and I can see their point (and agree, tbh), but I’m not going to get precious over something I have no influence over. It won’t change my future purchasing decisions.
I was quite interested in mine, given that my top three were from different systems: #1 Days Gone (144 hours - not true as I log my time with How Long To Beat and I got it at 100 hours ... still eeek). #2 was Assassin's Creed Brotherhood ... purely and solely played on my PS3, disc version too (54 hours v HLTB's 39) and #3 was Rainbow Moon on my Vita ... (still playing; it thinks I've logged 54 hours ...).
All in all, I still think it's quite interesting (as stats go) ... disappointed I only lodged 22 hours on PSVR given I played for 477 hours over the year ... good job my other half works nights!!
I'd like this kind of stats-tracking included in the PS5 OS, or included in a 'stability' update for PS4 ...

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think of the Latest State of Play Livestream?
I enjoyed it; was expecting PS4, PSVR games with a little smattering of PS5 and that’s what happened, though perhaps a little light on PSVR.
What there was though, I REALLY LIKED! Vader! All Hitman! Wooo!!
The indie games looked quite interesting and I could’ve sworn I saw Kat from Gravity Rush in at least one of them.
Good format, enjoyed, though didn’t hit the WOW spot. A well earned 4/5

Even if I just watch all the Star Wars and MCU content, that would last me for the whole year. Add in the other stuff I'll watch, I can justify the £50 pre-order cost even just for myself.
Re: Guide: Free PS5 Games - Will PlayStation Plus Subscribers Get Free PlayStation 5 Games?
@LiamCroft I was thinking the same, as I didn't have a PS4 when it launched, but "bought" all the PS4 games as I knew I'd get one sooner rather than later. Resogun is still one of my most played games! (I still haven't played Contrast though ...)
My 2p's worth is that we'll end up getting one new PS5 game (indie-originated, like with the PS4 or possibly an AA-title), but perhaps an additional PS4 game, given the B/C nature of the Five. Still; I expect we will find out from Sony in due course.
Re: PS5 Deep Dive Announced for Tomorrow, System Architecture and Games
I’m also WFH like a good number of people. I’m also really looking forward to this broadcast; I trust Cerny to deliver.
I’m also on a conference call immediately before the broadcast, so I’m going to keep it very brief!!
Re: PS5 Delay Likely Due to Coronavirus, Analyst Claims
I’ll be disappointed, naturally. That said, I’ve got a stupidly large PS3 and PS4 backlog, so I can happily plough through that until the Five comes out. Might even be able to afford a second controller and a couple of games by then, too!! 😉
Re: PS Plus March 2020 PS4 Games Announced
Although SotC was part of the PS3 plus games about a million* years ago, I think I’ll give it a go now. Not sure about Sonic, but will be worth at least a ten minute go - can’t do me any harm to try!
*okay, June 2013 isn’t quite “a million years ago”, but it feels a lifetime away!
Re: PS4 Controller Will Give You a Heart Attack When You Pause Zombie Army 4
The same thing occurs in Zombie Army Trilogy ... it’s quite unsettling the first time you hear it!
Re: Sony Suggests PS5 Price Is Still Undecided
I'm gearing up for a £450-£500 price, though if the latter, I'd like a [half-decent] pack-in game as part of that, or a promotional PS+ sub included (such as 3 months "free") etc.
Re: Poll: How Much Does PS5 Backwards Compatibility Matter to You?
PS4 back-compatibility is a must (I just don’t have the room for a third PlayStation under my tv!). PS3 would be wonderful but I’m pretty much convinced that’s a no. Not bothered about PS2 or PS1 b/c as any PS1 I can play on my PS3 and I’m not bothered about PS2 games as I don’t have any.
Re: Talking Point: In a Week Full of PS4 Game Delays, Are You Disappointed?
I’m happy with waiting. I’ve got a vast pile of backlog to work through and aside from one or two games, I’m buying nothing now until I get a PS5 when they’re out.
Re: Poll: Will PlayStation Exclusives on PC Affect Your PS5 Purchasing Intent?
Ultimately, I don’t have a gaming PC nor do I want one (just personal choice). I’ve got PlayStations and for me to be guaranteed to play the next set of exclusives, I’m going to buy a PS5.
People may refer to the exclusive-ness of games being diluted, and I can see their point (and agree, tbh), but I’m not going to get precious over something I have no influence over. It won’t change my future purchasing decisions.
Re: PlayStation 2019 Wrap-Up Gives You an Awesome Breakdown of Your PS4 Gaming Stats
Re: Xbox Game Pass Adds GTA5 the Day After It Leaves PS Now
@OscarHTX I agree. I’d certainly go for a PS+ Premium - style sub package over two separate subs
