Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for January 2020?

This is the first month I own all the games! However the Uncharted games I’ve got on disc for my PS3 and haven’t played for years, so looking forward to trying them in their remastered version, but it won’t be in the next month or two. I bough Goat Sim a few years ago as a laugh - and that’s all it is; it’s a ‘stick it on for ten minutes every now and again’ type game.

Purely viewed as a set of games from a quality perspective, the Uncharted trio are a credible offering, U2 definitely so, though for established PlayStation owners, there’s little value here. Goat Sim - even with all its’ DLC doesn’t represent great value.

This is certainly a month for new-to-PlayStation owners !

Re: Longtime PlayStation Fans Vote PS4 as Their Favourite Sony Console

michaelf

I’ve got all the models except the PS2; I’d veered Randomly off to the GameCube after the PS1. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them all. I was late to the PS3 party so all the PS+ AAA’s were a godsend to me (and still wading thru them...). Got the PS4 then Pro within a month of them launching - all the quality of life features in the current gen better follow over into the 5ive. And I love my handhelds - got a Phat PSP (white) and an OLED Vita - all still played too. It’s great being part of the ps ‘family’ and I’ve been gaming since 1982, so this isn’t teenage fanboyism speaking ...

Re: Rumour: PS4 Will Be Less Than $150 This Black Friday

michaelf

I think the prices are to be expected, though obviously need confirming as real. If they are; what a barg! I got my Pro (and PSVR) thru Black Friday deals. I’m now looking forward to the PS5.

I agree that Sony can’t confuse new potential PS owners by having three machines actively on sale when the PS5 launches. It makes sense to drop the Pro and have PS4 as the budget entry machine and the 5 as the aspirational upgrade.

Re: Talking Point: What if the PS5 Could Play Games from Every PlayStation Console?

michaelf

I’d love for this to cover the PS1-4, digitally and with the discs. I have serious doubts whether the PS3 would be emulated though, given the CELL complication. I’d be over the moon if it did, natch!

I’m less bothered about the handhelds, purely because I’m thinking about scaling from their screen to full-size TV. I have both handhelds and adore my Vita, so I’m not anti-handheld lol.

Even if PS4 bc was out of the box and the other systems had a staggered approach, that’d be grand.

I do expect PS3 gaming to be available purely through PSNow though.

Sony prove me wrong!!

TLoU is a triple-A game and well-deserved mega-selling hit, so it has the problem of that when being included in plus. I have the PS3 version, though it’s digital carcass is largely untouched for some random reason. So for me, having the PS4 version is good and means that I can easily play it now and ultimately on my eventual PS5.

Baseball? Nah.

I’m sure it has its’ supporters, but not me.

Re: PlayStation Now Update Adds Gravity Rush 2, LittleBigPlanet 3, and More

michaelf

@BridgeToClarity aye, I know what you mean. I did take advantage of a reduced PS+ annual sub (£39.99), though when I looked at the games I would play in PS Now compared to what I already had (either bought or via PS+), there were a lot of duplicates.

PS Now works out at £7.08 a month if I bought the annual sub up front, which is much more palatable than £13 a month!

So, if I could get both for less than a tenner (even £9.99) that's better than the current full price of £11.25 pm but given the amount of game duplication, I'd probably want this for £8ish - but I know that may be unrealistic.

Darn me for having PS+ for a long time, lol. If I were a newbie to Playstation, I'd see this as a much better proposition.

Re: PlayStation Now Update Adds Gravity Rush 2, LittleBigPlanet 3, and More

michaelf

there's a few games out of that list I'd certainly enjoy - Vampyr, Gravity Rush 2, Red Faction, though I half expect them to be on PS+ in the nexct couple of months.

If there was a PS+/Now merger, or discounted price for having them both, I'd snap it up as I've got the bandwith for PS Now. But as it stands, I can't justify the additional £13 per month given the amount of duplication across both services (I have been a PS+ member for several years now, so I appreciate not everyone will be in that position).

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS4 Games for the Rest of 2019?

michaelf

Really hyped for Star Wars, but it could be a major disappointment. I like the look of Greedfall. Struggled to pick the last one as a game I am looking forward to - the Doctor Who PSVR game - wasn’t in the list. So I picked Borderlands 3. Even if it’s not much different from B2, I’ll be happy as I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Re: No Man's Sky Beyond Patch 2.04 Fixes Some Nasty Crashing Issues on PS4

michaelf

does anyone know if this fixes the loading issue whereby if you've got a PS4Pro and a HD tv with Supersampling turned ON, the game won't load? It took me three attempts at loading plus some interweb searching to discover I needed to turn that option OFF.

Still; once I'd disabled that option, I had a great couple of hours on NMS VRing away last night

Re: Days Gone Is the UK's Best-Selling New IP of 2019

michaelf

@JJ2 I don’t get many platinums as I tend not to do online multiplayer stuff, and like you said, I won’t run around trying to find 9375 flags / joker teeth / coins etc. I’ll see how it goes in Days Gone. Here’s hoping for a sequel too!

Re: PS Plus August 2019 PS4 Games Announced

michaelf

I don't have either - I'm very pleased. I do have the two previous Sniper games (and Zombie Army Trilogy), so will enjoy these Plus additions.

Even if I did have them, both are high quality releases, so for those like me who don't own them, it's a good month.

Re: PS Plus July 2019 PS4 Games Announced

@deadfred77 I agree ... Sensi was the best! (especially on the Amiga). I'm a sucker for OutRun style arcade racers, even if they're a bit naff. So I'll be giving this a go.

We got a PES game through PS+ a few years ago for the PS3, and other than a quick go at the initial trials, I never bothered with it. I'm probably not going to with this one, either ...
