Again, giving this a 6 (while I get scoring is subjective) is a real shame. This is a top tier fps, and even with its age, is worth playing than most fps today, imho. I’d say a strong 8/10 on a bad day.

It’s a great game, but an okay FF game, imho. I’d rank it the best since PS1 days though.

@knowles2 Exactly right! 6-9 was such an amazing stretch. 16 brought me hope for future, even if it didn’t reach this stretch. Just wish the battle system was better

While I’m on board, and know what was said, I feel like this was planned. Yes, it’s a good idea to make a game that feels complete without it…but how many AAA games nowadays get zero dlc.

That said-thank you for not having to buy dlc to get story that should have been included in the first place.

Love the first 9 games. The rest of the series has been mid for me, at best. A few hours into 16, and I’m enjoying it quite a bit, despite not really caring for the battle engine. Anyways, , I’m optimistic this could rise through the ranks!

Final Fantasy has always had great graphics, so I’m not surprised. However, I am looking forward to hearing about whether they gave it a decent story or battle engine this time.

Easily a 10/10 for me. This, along with only a handful of other games, is gaming perfection in my book.

Playing through this again, and it makes me miss turn based RPGs. The story was deep, but not artificially inflated to make it seem deeper.

Well, of course. But this is obvious, and really doesn’t give anyone new information. Game sales isn’t the important figure it once was. With f2p games, dlc, etc, it’s just not as important.

You need to look at profit for a game. I’m not saying this isn’t being hit by gamepass, as it seems it still would be, but they didn’t actually say it. A company would get $ to have their game on gamepass, presumably all upfront (actually I have no idea if that’s how it works).

It would be interesting to get more data on this, though I doubt that will happen.

I like the “leaks”. I mean, of course the chance of them being real are very very tiny. But it’s like reading someone’s wishlist mixed somewhat with expectations. It gets you thinking of all the things that could be announced, and sometimes they remind you of something that was announced and you forgot about. Keep them coming!

This is the best game of its type-easily besting Diablo 3.

@DVS Did they sell separately, or just in the complete collection. If they didn’t you’d have to include the story inbetween.

4-9 are all gold, though 6 and 8 are too for me. Unfortunately the ps1 version of 6 is underwhelming-so 8 wins!

Also—unpopular opinion-but 10 is mediocre at best. I do like the battle system though!

I’ll guess cyberpunk setting with more action oriented battle system. I hope not, but look at what they turned FF into.

It wasn’t the worst E3.. as others have said Nintendo and Microsoft had great presentations. By all means, this should have been the worst one with companies having endured the pandemic and no hardware expected to be shown ( I did not believe Switch pro would be shown, despite the rumors. Nintendo made it clear it was focusing on software, and when was the last time it showed new hardware at e3?)

Well, at least it isn’t set in the XIII universe. Seems like they keep experimenting to find a new battle system that’ll work for them... but all I want is something similar to the snes/ps1 games.

I don’t believe the outage had anything to do with their proprietary memory cards. As the article says, it was only months before release in Japan. And per history, Sony loved using their own proprietary date forms in their cameras (and psp). Heck, even Betamax.

@Playstation yeah, I get it...I just think so many people are making such a big deal about Super Mario 3D All-Stars being delisted. But that’s just me.

Don’t tell the Nintendo fans...they are so worried about losing Mario 3D All-Stars...I don’t think they could handle 2200 games leaving...

This looks promising. And I love Ff7’s story.
That said, I think X is where the stories in the games took a turn for the worse and never looked back. I know there are a ton of people who hold that game in high esteem, so I’m expecting hate, but it’s, like, just my opinion, man.

Bummer my Vita has become a nice puzzle gaming system for me... it’ll stink not having new stuff. Not surprising though.

I enjoyed this game on the original Xbox. I knew it probably wouldn’t hold up completely, but I’m excited to play it again.

This is probably my favorite FF since 9.... but the snes/ps1 games are so much better imho. Heck, I enjoyed the FF1 twist more than the stories of the “newer” titles. Give me back the engaging stories where I save the world from a demigod...I don’t need the flashy fights.

@RudeAnimat0r stupid question: do you really need to read the walls of text if you’re familiar with these types of games. Time to play games is pretty tight to play games, so I tend to stick to games I can just figure out. “Walls of text” for a tutorial makes me hesitant... though I don’tmind story related text.

Man, so many great possibilities! I would love Chrono Trigger or a classic Final Fantasy title, is done correctly. ... which I guess would mean different things for different people.

Either way, I’m excited.

I’m more excited for this than any Final Fantasy title in over 15 years.

And I’m very hopeful it gets ported to console!

Ugh-I’m worried about this. The series has just been mediocre at best (for me) for like 15 years.
I’m more excited for SE’s other rpgs coming down the line...the mana games, Project Triangle Stategy, and Bravely Default 2.

I’m not super far into this game, but I’m really enjoying it! Got it on a whim on its sale, and so glad I did. If you’re on the fence, I’d give it a go.

This was one of the strongest Final Fantasy since the 90s, imho. Though I fell for everything 2 things it did right, it did something wrong, or just poorly.

Of course, being around for day 1 or the original release and playing the game countless times... it would probably be hard to live up to my expectations-and if it did, it would pee off others.

I’m going to play this one again-which is more than most modern games. I will probably wait until the next part is about to release though.
