@tallythwack Haha you make a very good point. I remember thinking that with a few games on PS2. Haha! I guess what I meant is I don't known if we are gonna have SNES > PS1 levels of graphic jumps anymore.
Either way, my point stands. Not having 60fps this gen is kinda unacceptable in my book.
Having lived in Japan for a long time, I'm still baffled by the cultural differences. They are very sensitive to violent imagery but are super lenient when it comes to nudity. In America its reversed. Also the concept of swearing doesn't really exist in Japanese so language is never an issue. I wish that was the case here. Can't tell you how many awesome-looking games I've skipped because of the 'strong language' tag. Bugs the heck outta me.
Continues to look so good! I'm not too worried about it, but the one thing we haven't seen yet is any kind of exploration or traversal. Just hoping its not another hallway simulator.
@Agramonte Same. I'll go for the Plat if what I naturally do gets me close. And if any trophies revolve around playing a game on harder difficulties, I'm out. Dont have the time or patience for that! Lol
This game is nothing short of a masterpiece but for me its ONLY a VR game. The experience even on the rusty PSVR was just so cool I can't play the pancake version. Eagerly awaiting the PSVR2 for my next playthrough.
Im guessing most will be like me and not have a clue what DDoS means. Here ya go:
A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is a malicious attempt to disrupt the normal traffic of a targeted server, service or network by overwhelming the target or its surrounding infrastructure with a flood of Internet traffic.
Thats fine as long as you don't also forget the people who invested a lot of money for a NEXT GEN experience. Its still shocking how few games there are that are built only with PS5 in mind.
@thefourfoldroot1 "pancake games" haha! I'm in the same boat. This and FF16 are the reason I got a PS5. I've been saving money just for it so for me, price doesn't matter. I'm all in for the future of VR gaming!
I wish they would just freaking blow the lid off and show us this thing fully already and tell us what to expect. Whens the release? How can we pre-order (and will you properly defend against bots this time)? How much is it? Is there a pack in game? What is the full launch line up? What devs are porting VR1 games? Like...we need to know this stuff.
Personally, money is not an issue so even if I have to rebuy the big titles, I'll be happy they're just on the platform. Rescue Mission, Moss 1-2, No Mans Sky (already confirmed), Tetris Effect and is it too much to wish for Rush of Blood?
I'm on the same page as most with this, it sounds like. Hugely disappointed but I can totally understand the reasoning. I was waiting on this news to know what to do with my VR1 and hadn't bought Moss 2 yet just in case news of a port came. Guess I'll hang onto my 1 until we know the full launch line up. If Moss 2 isn't there I'll buy it, play it, then sell my VR1.
I'll be 100% ok with all this if they can just port over Astrobot Rescue Mission, Moss 1 and 2, Rush of Blood, and maybe a few others. I'm positive Astro will get ported, maybe even be a launch title, and fairly confident the Moss games will be brought over too at some point but I wish they would just TELL US whats going on and what to expect!
@MattSilverado I hear ya on the wire initially being a bummer but to be honest its a massive plus in the end. The one other benefit of the wire you didn't mention is the most important one and the very thing that can potentially make it the best VR headset yet: processing power. Because of the wire it can fully utilize the power of the PS5 instead of needing to cram its own horsepower into the headset itself.
This is actually kind of big news. It really shows that Sony is doing all in thier power behind the scenes to make it as easy as possible for VR to go mainstream. To get as many devs (and thus games) as possible on the bandwagon. I really feel like PSVR2 will be a turning point for VR.
So glad I got mine already. Haha. People will complain but still get one anyway. Even though a PS5 is a luxury item, people have a way to get what they want regardless of budget. If their mind is determined to get something, it will happen somehow whether its considered affordable or not.
@Shepherd_Tallon Thats crazy you haven't played it! Haha. But its also exciting knowing you still get to do that for the first time. Heck, maybe if you keep waiting it will be at launch on VR2. I dont wanna be overly dramatic, but to me Rescue Mission was the Mario 64 of VR. The game that made me realize "Oooooh so THIS is what VR can be". Made me realize that VR doesn't just have to be gimmicky tech demos but actual full experiences.
YAASSSS. Even though Moss was one of my favorite PSVR games (and one of the best in general), I specifically avoided Moss 2 hoping I could play it somehow on the next gen set.
My wishes came true! Now I just pray VR2 is either backward compatible or they re-release Moss 1 on it.
I'm not too sure what the hype is all about for this one. I mean, it certainly looks impressive visually and whatnot but it just looks to me like another samey open world action RPG (which I'm frankly very burned out on). Is there something that sets this apart that I'm missing?
@freddquadros Exactly. Even if this battle system is well made, it has to be integrated well too. For example, FF7Rs balance between old and new was cool, but that games story and exploration was so broken you never got to actually use it. I feel like there were like, a dozen battles in that entire game. Haha. To me, to make an FF tick, it has to have these things in order of importance: 1) Deep characters that you love and that have a proper arc. 2) A compelling, comprehensive story 3) Satisfying exploration and party management (not linear) 4) A fun battle system
I 100% get where he is coming from. At the end of the day you have to make a product that will sell in the current climate but as a fan thats been with the series since FF2(4) on the SNES, it still makes me a bit sad to see this shift away from turn-based already completed in the industry. The RPGs of the Golden Era are long gone and won't be coming back. But you know, at the end of the day I play FF for STORY and CHARACTERS and that is precisely where the series has really fallen in my opinion since 10. That's what they should be focusing thier efforts on regardless of battle system. I still think 9 was the pinnacle of the series. Great story, great characters that had proper arcs, satisfying ending, etc. Anyway, if FF16 can deliver on a good story with good characters and satisfying exploration, I'll be happy. I've played my share of action RPGs and this style of combat can be really fun too so I'm willing to give it a solid chance.
As a side note, how freaking cool would it be if SE had two lines of FF games being developed at all times? Kind of like how Zelda and Mario both have 2D and 3D entries, both having different rules and expectations. One line could be new 3D FFs with all the newest gaming trends while the other line could be old school SNES or PS1 style turn based stories that were cheaper to develop?

Because you can't beat Nintendo at thier own game. Nintendo will always be king of handhelds. Sony the king of consoles.

Re: PS5 Players Don't Want to See 60fps Die Out
With graphics not having a lot of room to improve in big ways anymore, if we are not doing 60fps this gen, what is this gen even for? Lol
I guess we can all talk again after Sony fully commits to and embraces "current gen"...
