Re: PlayStation VR Non-Games: Allumette, Invasion, Kismet, VRideo | PS4 | Reviews

blakey78

I've used Vrideo, invasion (sooo cute lol) and little cinema or whatever it's called. Not tried Allumette yet. I've loved the various videos available with the lion king being one standout favourite in my household. The roller coasters are great but not very good image quality. Invasion was brilliant. Wish it was a bit longer. I like that these options are available though. Again, fair play Sony.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on PlayStation VR So Far?

blakey78

I am loving my new gaming experience. Me and my daughter have spent the majority of the day playing games from VR worlds and the demo disc. Not once did we feel nauseous and every time we played a new game, we had that wow moment again. I've watched what feels like 100 videos of people having demos of battle zone and I honestly didn't think much of the game. That was until today where we thought we'd give it a go. My god, being in that tank literally blew us away. The scale and detail was amazing. If this is only gen one then I can't wait for the next gen. The future really is bright. Well done Sony, I doth my cap.

Re: Video: Following the Girl on the Train in Here They Lie on PS4

blakey78

This is one that I have been looking forward to. Unfortunately I've become addicted to Dangerball and can't stop playing trying to beat nitro lol. Didn't think it would be a game I'd spend any time on. It's a "just one more" kinda game though. I've still got Batman, driveclub, until dawn and most of the demo disc to try lol. So as much as I'm looking forward to playing here they lie, it's gona have to join the queue.

Re: Opinion: Which PlayStation VR Launch Games Should You Buy?

blakey78

Here they lie really interests me and at just £15.99 you really can't grumble. I've got sooo many others that are on my radar too. I have got batman, driveclub, until dawn, ps vr worlds. The demo disc containing the 18 demos is available on the UK PSN too. So that should keep me busy

Re: Robinson: The Journey Roams to PlayStation VR on 8th November

blakey78

@get2sammyb This is my most anticipated game in the launch window. I tried it at EGX and still smile every time I think about coming face to face with a diplodocus. If PSVR games are full of experiences like that then that's one customer they've got for life. Hopefully I haven't got to wait too long for my delivery tomorrow. Surely DPD will see that my parcel takes priority lol.

Re: Hands On: Does PlayStation VR Really Have Tracking Issues?

blakey78

@get2sammyb How much of the 5.5hrs do I have to watch exactly lol. Seriously though, the impression I got from these guys was they were reviewing PSVR to Vive standards. They were looking for the slightest imperfections and painting a bad picture of the peripheral. Of course it's not going to be "perfect", and there are obviously going to be imperfections. But for the price I'll be paying I can overlook slightly wobbly hands or the image slightly shaking. I've only had two experiences with PSVR thus far and both had me craving more, not nitpicking. Yes, if I looked hard enough I probably could find fault. But this is gen 1 PSVR using move controllers from years ago, similar tech with regards to light tracking. It's annoyed me at times when playing playroom with the kiddiewinks only for the light bar on the control pad to get blocked when the kids are trying to hoover up AR bots. But I honestly believe that this will be improved with gen 2 PSVR. It's not going to stop me spending many hours lost in virtual worlds. Bring on Thursday.

Re: Hands On: Playing Non-VR PS4 Games on PlayStation VR

blakey78

@get2sammyb My main interest for this mode was always going to be watching my extensive backlog of SBS 3D films. As I wrote in a previous post, this tech just seems the perfect fit for it as they both employ the two image, one per eye, to create that stereoscopic depth we became accustomed to with 3D tv's and cinema. Ah well, I also wrote that it's not a deal breaker. I own a 4K tv and I'm looking forward to utilising it with the beast that is PS4 Pro. After all, I'm buying PSVR for VR lol.

Re: Game of the Month: Top 4 PlayStation Games of September 2016

blakey78

September was a dry month for me with regards to PS4 purchases (or many others to be honest) in anticipation of PSVR hitting this month. Funds have been tied up with pre-orders for that and some accompanying games. Back to the saving again though what with PS4 Pro the following month. Then the other C word we aren't allowed to use lol

Re: Hardware Review: PlayStation VR - The Future of Play

blakey78

@get2sammyb Excellent review mate. On the subject of cinematic mode, I'm a tad bit confused about Sony's stance on 3D movies/games being displayed in 2D. I own an abundance of HSBS 3D movies that work exactly the same as PSVR in as much as it uses an image per eye. So surely a HSBS movie would slot nicely into PSVR's set up. Or am I missing something? Don't get me wrong, this isn't a deal breaker as I am purchasing purely for VR. I just looked forward to watching my 3D films in my own private cinema

Re: Sacked Man United Manager Louis van Gaal Wanted to Bring VR to Old Trafford

blakey78

As a united fan who's unable to get to matches, mostly due to being in dad mode lol, watching the match via VR would be an amazing substitute. With the 3D sound that Sony are using, it would almost feel like you're actually there, but with the bonus of still hearing match commentary and seeing replays. The possibilities are endless, if it's utilised right.

Re: PlayStation Plus October Includes Resident Evil and Transformers on PS4

blakey78

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Surely the best month was way back in the beginning of this gen when we got Outlast. That, for me, was the high point of what has been a poor showing for plus subscribers this gen. As for this month, RE is a fab game, but it's now showing its age. I do understand the positivity to most subscribers, just not for me this month, again. It's qll down to personal preference and it's clear that Sony is trying to mix it up a bit which is great. I, like others, would have liked to have seen a PSVR section, even if they were just two indie "experiences". Who knows, that might come in the next few months.

Re: Hands On: Could Horizon: Zero Dawn Be Sony's Next Big Blockbuster?

blakey78

@SnowstormX I honestly wasn't knocking the game, it's a day one for me. I was just commebting on the screen blemishes that I saw. I know the gane hasn't gone gold yet, I also now know that it was a video that I was watching. My comment was more aimed at the Pro rather than the game itself. Sammy cleared it up for me though. This is also my most anticipated game of 2017. I hear you about people complaining for the sake of it. I was just commenting on what I saw, that's all

Re: Hands On: Could Horizon: Zero Dawn Be Sony's Next Big Blockbuster?

blakey78

@get2sammyb Phew, was starting to worry my pre-order for the pro was a waste. As I said, the colours were stunning, vibrant, alive even. This info has eased my mind a little, thanks Sammy. Gutted I missed you guys at EGX. I was, however, recognised from my comment "I'll be easy to spot, I'll be the guy wearing a Man Utd shirt and having only one leg lol". It was a father and son from Manchester. He came over whilst me and my brother were in the waiting area for PSVR. Really nic3, friendly chap who asked if I was Blakey78 lol. I'm famous

Re: Hands On: Could Horizon: Zero Dawn Be Sony's Next Big Blockbuster?

blakey78

@get2sammyb @ZeD Me and my brother went to EGX and we saw this on that massive tv showcasing the game and PS4 Pro. And I've got to say that we weren't that impressed either. There was artifacting, screen blemishes. The way that the hair of Aloy merged through her clothes, same with the grass. There's no denying that the colours were beautiful, but the screen glitches just ruined what I'd expected to be my highest point at EGX. We questioned if we were in the right place watching a game being played on the vanilla PS4. I'm hoping that this isn't what to expect from 4K gaming as I'm almost as hyped by the pro as I am by PSVR.

Re: Ogle Rise of the Tomb Raider's Assets on PS4 Pro

blakey78

@get2sammyb I'm at EGX tomorrow with my brother. I've got my PSVR slot booked. But I'm also looking forward to seeing what my pre-order for the PS4 Pro will actually give me. It's my first ever foray into the gaming convention world. I can't wait.

Re: Buckle Up with DriveClub VR on 13th October

blakey78

I really hope they do acknowledge season pass holders. I'd be happy with just a discount. This is one game I'm really looking forward to. I wonder how the immersion will be driving using a DS4 and without one of their rigs at their demos. Yes, I could by a steering wheel but it's not going to recreate the simulation they had going on.

Re: UK Store GAME Will Sell You a PS4 Pro for £174.99

blakey78

@shogunrok I don't suppose you know if they'll do the ethernet transfer in-store lol. It takes an eternity to transfer from an HDD. I've got virtual shares in Game's falling stock. I was one of the lucky ones who got 50 virtual shares that I can transfer into points and ultimately cash to spend in store. All for free too. Mind you, I've had two chances per year over the last 3yrs to either take half, take the lot or wait to see if the stock goes up. At one point the stock was £2 a share so I "virtually" had £100 in points to spend in store. I bided my time on the pretence of PS VR releasing at some point. Problem is, I don't get the chance to take them until the end of October. So I'll be putting them towards PS4 Pro. The stock was less than a £ last time I checked lol. It's money for nothing though.

Re: Poll: Should the PS4 Pro Have a UHD Blu-ray Player?

blakey78

Not an issue for me, and I already own a 4K tv. PS4 has always been a gaming console with media elements, the Xbone is tge media console with a gaming element. It's why I stuck with PlayStation this generation. I stream my movies and haven't bought a bluray for some considerable time. Yes, the option to play UHD blurays would have been nice, but it didn't factor into my decision to pre-order PS4 Pro. Bring on Oct 13th and Nov 10th

Re: Video: PS4 Firmware Update 4.00's Secret Neatest Feature

blakey78

@get2sammyb As I've never played spotify (or any other music) whilst gaming, I do have a question. Does it mute the game play audio entirely, so you only hear the music, or does it just play in place of the game's music, so you still hear audio from conversations and ambient noises like gunfire, accelerating or water running? I can see how a game like no man's sky can work with spotify playing music, silencing all audio. But something like the witcher, Grand theft auto or many RPG titles, I can't see how hearing music instead of the game's audio is good, especially when you can have both if you play the music on an external audio device, like a smartphone or laptop or other, all while hearing all you need to hear utilising the option to just turn down the game's music.

Re: Guide: How to Create, Manage, and Organise Folders on PS4

blakey78

@get2sammyb This is an OCD's dream come true lol. I've already sorted mine. It is hard, though, as @hi_drnick alluded to, when you've got an FPS folder and an RPG folder and a game (fallout 4) that falls into both categories. But it's a minor irk and nothing that can't be ignored, for now lol.

Re: Promising PlayStation VR Exclusive Farpoint Will Be Enhanced by PS4 Pro

blakey78

@get2sammyb You can bet they'll bundle the aim controller with the limited edition similar to what CoD are doing with modern warfare 4. If you buy anything other than that you'll have to make do with the DS4. I mean, what price could they possibly charge to add that (new) tech to the game's package? It would easily be £70-£80 based on the assumption that the game itself is priced at £40-£60.

Re: Oh Dear, The Last Guardian Delayed into December on PS4

blakey78

This actually works out fine for me. October was always shaping up to be an expensive month. Also, after crunching some numbers, I've worked out that with my current PS4 being traded in, I can afford the PS4 Pro. So October and November are covered. December is a more comfortable month for my wallet who is going into therapy after all the abuse it'll have endured lol 😁

Re: TGS 2016: Lara Croft Survives Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 Trailer

blakey78

I thoroughly enjoyed the reboot and I've been very patient waiting to sample the 2nd. I'd have been happy to just play the game as is but having all of the added extras is fantastic. I'm especially looking forward to the VR element with regards to the inclusive content. How I'm going to fit all of the upcoming titles in is anyone's guess (my guess is I'm not, single dad of two who I devote all my time to). This game looks to be a great buy and value for money.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Looks Drop Dead Gorgeous in New PS4 Pro Gameplay Trailer

blakey78

@BAMozzy Mine's a 2014 model so I don't even have HDR. I have started looking into costs for a HDR TV though and found a 49" lg HDR 4k for £499. I've got PSVR pre-ordered though so that takes precedence over PS4 pro in 2nd, then, eventually, a HDR TV. I love tech but I'm not a high earner due to a disability and being a single dad of two. I am good with the money we get though so this time next year I should have all three that I've listed. As for watching this video in 4K, I'll have to use YouTube 4K downloader and watch it via HDD.

Re: PS4 Pro Doesn't Appear to Have a 4K Blu-ray Player

blakey78

People are missing the point, ps4's slogan from day 1 is #ForThePlayers. If you want a gaming console get a ps4, if you want a multimedia console that plays games get an xbone. To add 4k bluray drive takes the emphasis away from games and focuses more on media as a whole. Something that ps4 never did. Yes, you could still stream from netflix etc, and still watch blurays. But the main selling point was the games. As is the case with the ps4 pro. It has to have some element of a 4k player as there's bound to be 4k games on the horizon (lol). Let's just enjoy it for what it is, an improved gaming console with extras.

Re: Pre-Order Your PS4 Pro Console Right Now

blakey78

I so want to pre-order but I can't see me raising the £350 price in the space of a month after spending the same amount on psvr. For me, pro comes 2nd to psvr so although it won't be day 1 (sob) I will most definitely be getting pro in the near future.

Re: PS4 Pro Confirmed, Launches November 2016 for $399

blakey78

I'd love to get this day one but after spending £350 on 13th October for psvr, I can't see me raising a further £350 in the space of a month. I'm hoping Game will do a trade in option for my current PS4, that might help bring the price down. I'm definitely getting it at some point though

Re: Sony Confirms Official Stream for PlayStation Meeting 2016

blakey78

I've tried watching previous streams via pushsquare, however, whenever I tap on the ▶ it says that the stream is offline, deep live textual updates happening below tge stream. Can I only access the stream via tablet or laptop? Or is it just my Xperia Z5 that's the problem lol. I'll most likely have it on YouTube on the tv and have your live updates on my phone as I enjoy some of the light hearted banter you folks have. 4hrs to go eek lol

Re: Sony Confirms Official Stream for PlayStation Meeting 2016

blakey78

@shogunrok Where can I watch the stream as the PS4 events section hasn't got the meeting advertised and also in the past whenever I've tried to watch the twitch streams on your site it says it's always offline. That has happened every time there has been a live stream. I can see the live updates in text but the embedded video says offline. I had to wait until the stream ended over E3 and then watch it back. I'm really looking forward to seeing the neo and everything to do with it but I can't find anywhere to watch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Review: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PlayStation 4)

blakey78

I absolutely loved this game. By far one of the best gaming experience I've had. Every story was well written to the point where each side quest felt like it was the main storyline. The attention to detail and superb voice acting all mounted up to a game that I easily enjoyed playing to its conpletion. Think I have 2 ?'s that I haven't visited. I am yet to try the expansions due to other games coming out. I'm looking forward to dipping back into the W3 world again soon though. 10/10 for me. Bring on Cyberpunk 2077

Re: Resident Evil 7 Sounds More Like Silent Hill Than Ever

blakey78

@sajoey I'm with you on that. Horror will be out of this world from a VR perspective. I just hope that the system can cope with said cut scenes and it doesn't affect the frame rate. Regardless, PSVR is sooo close now. I can't wait to experience it at EGX later in September. Knowing my luck it'll cause me nausea and I'd have to cancel my pre-order lol. Oh, and being a below knee amputee, the scene where the shovel cuts off the leg is going to be extra immersive for me hahahaha

Re: No Man's Sky PS4 Crashes Will Almost Be Eradicated with This Week's Patch

blakey78

I was at a trading post for nearly 2hrs waiting to trade with the landing ships trying to get some chrysomite to craft the jet pack theta boost. After getting it I went off to Farm lots of gold that scattered this planet. I went back to the trading post and collected 1.2mil in units. Sensibly I decided to save the game so I got in my ship. I was worried about the game crashes. As I exited the ship to complete the save the game crashed, and booted me out of the game. When I reloaded the game back up it started me at a previous save, minus the chrysomite and units, I had to do it all again. I was seething.

Re: Mission Blog: Chapter 1 - Hello, Worlds

blakey78

Loved your beginning to the centre of the universe. It shared a striking similarity to my first trek into the stars. Still enjoying the game. I'm at a point where pretty much every blueprint I find it says already owned. I'm only 3 star systems in so I'm hoping there's more content out there in this vast universe. I look forward to episode 2.

Re: Gamers Demanding a No Man's Sky Refund Aren't Happy with Sony

blakey78

I bought a physical copy of the witcher 3 when it released. After putting countless hours in I decided to let a "friend" borrow the game. That game never came back. There was a sale on the UK PSN so, after checking to see if my game save would work on a digital copy, purchased and downloaded. After loading the game up it was then that I realised that my physical copy game saves weren't compatible with the digital game. My season pass was though. I contacted Sony to see if there was a possibility for a refund as there was no definitive information on game save compatibility. They refused and stood firm to their policies. A lesson was learnt and now I'm more vigilant with my purchases. I would be very surprised if anyone actually got a refund from Sony based on their complaints about No man's sky. I am actually enjoying the game with only a few crashes. I'm confident Sean and the team will patch the game going forward though.

Re: Gamescom 2016: DriveClub VR Looks Really Bloody Good on PS4

blakey78

Both PSVR and this game were always day 1 purchases for me. This video however has now got me contemplating getting a steering wheel too. Now I know my set up won't come close to that in the video, but the added immersion seems definitely worth investing in one. My wallet has just packed it's bags and moved out though due to the abuse it's endured lol

Re: Soapbox: No Man's Sky on PS4 Is the Biggest Disappointment of 2016

blakey78

@Bhattiboy Surely there is a more constructive way of getting your views across. One that articulates your feelings without causing any offence. If there is something that bugs you about the guy, say something. I have always found him to be approachable and takes constructive criticism well. Just calling him a cancer doesn't express why you feel that way or what your issue with him is. Expression is the key. At least say why it is that @get2sammyb offends you so much.
