Am I right in remembering that in the first it didn't have the option to invert Y? I know that it was something to do with the shooting/aiming that prevented me from completing the first game. That and those pesky black lines at the top and bottom of the screen (wide-screen I think lol). Does anyone know if these two things are fixed/improved?
@get2sammyb This article and all these fab comments has fascinated me. I was wondering, as it's Friday, is it worth doing a poll on the subject? I honestly thought I was in the minority when it came to the online/offline divide. I thought 80% of people gravitated to more online service based games these days like destiny. Reading all 88 comments so far, it seems like it's the opposite to my thoughts though.
After I read this article and scrolled down to read the comments, I honestly expected that I was one of the few remaining pro-single player/ante-online gamers left in this world. Whenever a destiny/CoD/SW battlefront comes out I honestly do try yet again to play the multiplayer content but I just end up fuming at my ineptitude and everyone else's elite ability and end up rage quitting. I mean, on the CoD single player I'm hitting head shot after head shot, Mr S.A.S. Online, I'd miss the floor if I aimed at it lol. The single player is player friendly, emotionally investing via story and character. I dunno, we all play different games because we all have our own tastes. There's obviously a market for both single player and service based, this past years releases support that after all.
Typical. I was having a clear out of old game saves that I was unlikely to buy again a few months back and MGS:V was one of the saves I deleted lol. I checked my online saves and I'd deleted it from there too. Ah well, I'm happy to go in again. Only reason I traded it in was it was getting far too repetitive. Loving the sound of the Amnesia collection though. Sony, I tip my cap to you
@get2sammyb Microsoft probably didn't want to be beaten by Sony again lol. I just hope that Sony continue to support PSVR in the future, whether it has competition or not. I love mine and I'm shocked how diverse the content is. There have been so many wonderful games/experiences/videos. Tbe immediate future looks positive too. Long may it continue. PSVR 2 with PS5 anyone?
@BAMozzy I'm yet to start both expansions so this will be a perfect excuse to finish them off. I Finished every "?" on the map, which very rarely happens with a game for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Time and other releases have hampered me continuing with the DLC. Looks like my patience paid off. I agree with everything that you wrote about the game. Definitely the best game this generation. It's going to look even more stunning on my 4k tv, just wish I had HDR.
@ShogunRok Thanks for the info. I think I'll give it a shot. It'll be a bit silly to miss out on what seems to be a great game just because I have to read subtitles. Thanks again
@ShogunRok After reading the review for yakuza kiwami I decided to read this review too. It has definitely piqued my interest as I've never played a game in the series before. Only question I have is about the audio. Is it all in Japanese with English subtitles, or is there an English option in the settings? I don't think it's a deal breaker or anything. I just don't want to be distracted from the cutscene whilst reading the subtitles, or vice-versa, miss something in the subtitles whilst watching the cutscene. Multi-tasking isn't my strong point hahaha
@get2sammyb I love how Skull and Bones sucked the wind out of Microsoft's sails (lol) when it comes to Sea of Thieves. Just on a graphical point, it looked far superior to SoT's. I enjoyed the battles in black flag so I'm more inclined to lean towards SaB. What did you make of it?
@Reanfan7 You know I was only talking about the 2 free PS3 games being dropped, not shutting it down in its entirety for PS3 users? That's just bad business sense.
@Reanfan7 I did say supposedly. There was all sorts of chatter and speculation regarding an article stating Sony were planning "big things" for ps plus. Cue 100's of comments full of said speculation. Now, I know for a fact that Sony are considering PSVR for ps plus at some point as that comment was made a few months back. As for the PS3 games, it's unlikely they'll stop them but you just never know with Sony.
@Tasuki fair comment. What with them supposedly stopping the inclusion of PS3 games I just hoped they'd at least offer one PSVR game. Even if, as @Totaldude911 mentioned, they included a cross buy game like Res or Bound, that would please all involved. Well, apart from the PS3 faithful of course lol
Not for me again this month. I'm not a co-op/multiplayer fan, and life is strange ep 1 bored me to tears. Mind you, that's not to say it's not a good game folks, before I get attacked it just wasn't my cup of tea. Me, personally, I'm still awaiting the inclusion of PSVR games to IGC. Surely that would sell units to those on the fence about purchasing one
I've been looking forward to this and farpoint since they were first announced. But being on disability benefits and a full time single dad of two I just can't warrant spending £75 on them. So it's going to have to come down in price quite considerably before I purchase them. Consider me disappointed
@get2sammyb I've just checked the UK PSN to purchase this game and I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas why it's not available seeing as the release day is marked for today?
@TrueAssassin86x Thanks for the info. As I already own both the original and the dlc I'll probably have to stick with the digital option. I've yet to finish Whistleblower though.
@get2sammyb Is this digital only or will there be a physical release? As I've said on other posts before, outlast, for me, remains the best IGC game I've ever had on the PS4. To have that game for free so early in the PS4's life was an excellent move by Sony. Graphically it showed the potential of the system and cemented my interest in the console. And it was a fab game too, made me jump several times lol.
@shogunrok The only turn based game I've ever enjoyed and played right through to the end was south Park: the stick of truth. And that was mostly because I'm a fan of the show. So this game really isn't my cup of tea, neither is the JRPG genre. I can see it has a big following though and I hope that everyone enjoys the game once it's released. Bring on south Park: the fractured but whole
@ShogunRok I'm a big fan of his right from Firefly to Castle. His personality is ace. I didn't know he was in the original, mind you I didn't play it for long. Just wasn't my cup of tea.
@shogunrok Am I right in thinking that was Nathan Fillion's voice? Sounded very similar. Anywho, it's got me a bit interested in the reveal where I'm sure I'll make my decision as to whether or not D2 is for me
@shogunrok @get2sammyb Can you be a serial philanderer like good ol' Geralt? Or will it have a detrimental effect on how your story progresses? I think it's going to be hilarious to watch if it encounters some of the bugs I've seen on YouTube. Just a head having "fun" in the bedroom lol. Ragdoll effects a'la fifty shades hahaha. Bring it on.
@shogunrok I am a fan of RPG games but I'm relatively new to the genre with the witcher 3 being my first real delve into RPG games. And I did everything in that game. I also enjoyed fallout 4 and I'm really enjoying Horizon. So here's hoping I'll learn all that's needed to enjoy Andromeda
@shogunrok All this post has done is show me how daunting playing a mass effect game can be. I mean, come on, lol. Sounds like I need to do a degree in college just to get the full experience of this game. Not that this is totally a bad thing, though. It's just a heck of a lot when you're used to pick up and play games. Even the witcher was generally simple to pick up and learn. I hope that at least some of the game has tutorials for us noobs to the franchise lol. It does fill me with confidence that the scale of the game is massive and there's plenty to do. Should keep me busy until Christmas lol.
@Anchorsam_9 Is it PS4 Pro compatible? I only ask as I own both the game and the Pro and I've encountered terrible game breaking glitches, slow pop-in of the world around you and a few minor irks. I've tried boost mode and it improved it slightly. Also, is there anything beyond 100 gold bricks?
I've been playing this with my 6yr old daughter and we've got 90 gold bricks. We haven't seen any dragons yet though. We've collected a heck of a lot though and, for me, it became repetitive after gold brick number 30. My daughter, however, still loves it so we'll keep on playing. 7 out of 10 is a fair score.
All I wanted was the option to delete several/all complete downloads at once rather than one at a time. Now, on the main notifications list, you can't delete any. You still have to go to a sub folder and delete one at a time. At least when you got notifications in the past you could clear all in one go.
Edit: By clear all now I meant mark as read. You still didn't have the option to delete the actual downloads in one go.
@get2sammyb I was just wondering about media on the HDD. Can I finally play my extensive collection of HSBS 3D blurays on my PSVR? I've got two HDD's. One 1TB NTFS with all my media and one 500GB exfat for the PS4. Can I now play these files directly from the exfat HDD? Or is it solely used for downloads from PSN and game saves?
I'm really looking forward to this one. The original is still by far my best ever PS Plus IGC release to date. I'm yet to finish Whistleblower so will have to complete that between now and April. It's going to be difficult though as I'm all over Horizon at the moment. An excellent start to 2017 though Sony. I salute you
Yup, been looking forward to this one. Ext HDD and boost mode especially. Not to mention stereoscopic 3D films via my PSVR. @shogunrok what format will my HDD have to be, fat32 or NTFS?
Me and my 6yr old daughter have been enjoying tearaway on my vita. I've had the game for ages but hadn't played it that much. Now, it's the game of choice when she has her hour on the vita. So, tearaway unfolded is a fab selection for me, not too sure about the other available games though.
Hey @get2sammyb I was just wondering, what is using the bow like, aiming etc? I only ask as I was useless with the bow in TR and RotTR. I mean, I would use soooo many arrows trying to get a hit. Or not pull the string (?) back enough when firing. Please tell me that it's intuitive and relatively simple. It's my only worry when it comes to this game as I have been a fan since day one, and as I now own a pro, this game sits at the top of my most wanted list (well, in the beginning of 2017 that is lol).
@get2sammyb I went for the Witcher 3. It's one of the only games where I did absolutely everything available. There were no ?'s left at the end of my play through. It had a few flaws but it's nothing short of a masterpiece. And that's just the main game, don't get me started on the two expansions. Blood and wine could have easily released as a stand alone game and still whooped the butts of several "full" games. Thanks cd projekt red for the free dlc, the fantastic post-release help and patches, and for creating a fabulous game. Can't wait until cyberpunk releases.
@Wazeddie22 yeah it's good to see a freebie still getting support some months after release. Bodes well for the future. My kids love the original playroom and enjoy the VR game too.
Hey @get2sammyb I noticed a PSVR unit in the window of my local CEX store (Telford) yesterday. I didn't see the price but if someone in the area wants one I'd check it out. I am so glad I purchased mine day one. I just hope that there are some good games of similar ilk to RE7 on the horizon (lol). I know about farpoint being a full game but almost all the others will have a VR add on (GTS, Ace combat 7)
Hi @get2sammyb great review as always. I only have one question. As someone who hasn't played an RE game since 1 and 2 (my bad), am I going to be left confused by the story? I only ask as I read that this game continues on from the end of RE 6. I've already got the game and will play it in all its VR goodness regardless of story. I just thought I'd check. I loved outlast as mentioned in a previous post on here. Alien and P.T were great too. So hearing that there are similar elements to that in this game, and did I mention the VR (lol), I'm sure I'm going to love this game.
I don't understand the dislike for outlast. It's one of my all time favourite horror games, especially this gen. And for it to be given free on ps plus too. I loved how vulnerable I felt up against all the patients, not knowing who was going to just stand/sit there and do nothing and who was going to attack. And you play as a journalist, so he's not exactly going to have previous experience with various weapons. So just having a camera, your wits and your speed was refreshing. RE7 has included weapons and ammo but it's in short supply. So you aren't going to be Arnie from commando. I can't wait, especially for the VR aspect.
I'm curious to know why persona 5 has such a massive lead. What is it about this game that has people so hyped? And this is a genuine question as I have no knowledge of the series. This isn't a jibe at the franchise. I'm just interested to know what it is about the game/series that has given it such a massive following?
Edit: ok, only a 2% lead now but persona 5 still has a lot of people claiming it their most anticipated.
I'm not so sure about this one. It seems like a title that will easily cause motion sickness. More so than other VR driving titles due to the uneven courses, drifting, crashes. I'm hoping I'm wrong as, someone who doesn't suffer motion sickness, I'm a big fan of rally going back to the 1st WRC.

Re: PS4 Racer DiRT Rally's Getting PlayStation VR Support
I'm not so sure about this one. It seems like a title that will easily cause motion sickness. More so than other VR driving titles due to the uneven courses, drifting, crashes. I'm hoping I'm wrong as, someone who doesn't suffer motion sickness, I'm a big fan of rally going back to the 1st WRC.
