It's pretty much a given that Capcom is working on a sequel to MH: World, and probably have been for a while, with the 20th anniversary of the series coming up next year.

As frustrating as it was 1st party-wise (cg teasers of live service games, really?) the Dragon's Dogma 2 reveal saved the day all on it's own for me. Alan Wake 2 was great as well (Max Payne? Is that you?!).

I thought Marathon was sp before checking the website for a massive dissapointment, but I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt because, a) it's bungie, and b) the set up sound like a pvp extration system shock (infiltrate a ghost space ship, rogue AI, mutations (?), runners).

Haven seems to be ANOTHER extraction shooter but it has a "heist" gimmick apparently. Not what I expected from Haven after all the hype around the studio about their "innovation and creativity". But Jade Raymond has proven more than capable so this is another wait and see.

I got nothing from Concord's teaser. Just that it's a space pvp shooter by Firewalk, run by a former Bungie boss. So, Destiny + No Man's Land? That's not a bad elevator pitch now that I think about it but, as with most of these teasers, I need more information and actual footage.

Spiderman 2 looks ridiculously impressive even if its more a "maybe" than a "day one" for me.

FFXVI looked equally unbelievable but please, Square, we don't need to see ALL the game before we can actually play it.

I did not care for Immortals of Aveum before but the trailer made me very curious. Noy a "day one" but I'll have to keep my eye on it.

Sony really needs to step it up for the next showcase because this was a tad dissapointing tbh.

And a special mention goes out to Square and their dreadful-looking Splatoon ripoff. How is this the same company that gave us Xenogears and Vagrant Story?

Dissapointment of the day would be Factions 2 awol, and the Haven live service game teaser.
Just terrible award goes to Foamstars, a cringey ripoff of splatoon.

I give the showcase an overall score of 07/10. And only because of the DD2 reveal

Good times. Back in the PSX era, between the japanese companies, you could only consider yourself a big player if you had a flagship (j)RPG: Square had Final Fantasy, Enix had Dragon Quest, Konami and Suikoden, and Capcom had their own in the Breath of Fire series. Atlus and the SMT-spinoff Persona.

I wish they relaunch Metal Gear and its a big success just to see the look on Kojima's face X...D

Tbh I've learned to not get hyped about State of Plays because it usually end in dissapointment.

Good so far, kinda lost some steam past couple of episodes, but you'll have to agree some "creative decisions" are just easy representation points, picking the low hanging fruit... its actually making the show kinda predictable, like I just just knew they race-swapped Maria before Tommy even revealed her identity. Like ok, Sarah is mixed now, all of the sudden, now Maria is bonafide Jada with a full set of hair for no reason.

It feels like they are just crossing off some kind of representation checklist.

Still, good show, but little details like these are distracting in the sense that you can't help but feel that they are unauthentic and just pandering to the crowd. Wouldn't expect any less from Neil Druckman tbh lol.

10/10 would JK Rowling again.

Man, I was cheering for this one to be at least a good 7/10.
Charm alone may turn this one into a cult classic, it's happened to stranger games (looking at you, Nier).
