@Flaming_Kaiser I'm sure they can make both mobile games and console games. This has been out for two years already, and their console output has been huge recently. Also, this may be both a mobile game AND good. If it's this popular, it has to have something to recommend it.
Opoona was great! Probably my favourite Wii game. Koei Tecmo being my all time favourite publisher, this game looks incredible for me - here's hoping they bring it overseas!
Assassin's Creed Unity isn't borderline unplayable on PS4, to be fair. It may have been at launch, but it's been patched considerably since then. I played out maybe 6 months after it came out, and it was fine for me.
I get the dissatisfaction in a sense, but I wish people wouldn't be so quick to judge... I haven't played Invisible Inc, but it looks cool, and Stories is really, really good. Just try it out - you might like some of these games more than you think.
Looks great! I'm hoping Yakuza 6 will get localised too, as that has the added advantage of a gang comprised entirely of real Japanese pro-wrestlers. I mean, what more could you want?
@AFCC I think it's free to play when it eventually launches fully, this is kinda an early access deal. It's 29.95 (Australian) for the founders pack, which includes access to the game in its current state and some bonus stuff. It's a pretty confusing deal, I think, but the game looks intriguing.
Fantastic! Dynasty Tactics 2 was one of my all-time favourite ps2 games, and I think it shows they know how to make a strategy game! Can't wait for this
Hope this is actually coming! I mean, it's pretty definite at this point, but you never know.
Bioshock 2 was actually my favourite of the trilogy, I loved the different perspective and thought the gameplay was the best of the lot, though the whole series is excellent. Definitely wouldn't be opposed to playing through them again!
@EXP Hope you enjoy them! I never played 6, but 5 was one of my favourite ps3 games, and I think the series in general is a lot of fun! Capcom has actually said they plan to release a physical copy, though I think that's only after 4,5 and 6 have all been released. That's the impression I got, anyway - they could be bundled together for a physical release like 1 and Zero.
@Clay_Davis83 What do you think of Lost Dimension so far? I found it a very intriguing, well executed concept - platinumed it myself on a trip interstate last year - but I've never met anyone else who's played it. Definitely an under-appreciated game, in my opinion.
Samurai Warriors 4: Empires on Vita, Gravity Rush Remastered on PS4, and Pokken Tournament on Wii U. Only got to try about 10 minutes before I went to work this evening, but oh my gosh, it's exactly the game I dreamed of when I was a kid! Great stuff
Trying to finally finish off P4:G on the vita. Man, it's good! I know that it's been out for years and everyone already knows this, but I think it's one of the finest RPGs I've ever played.
I'll also hopefully get to play a bit of Far Cry Primal. My brother was kind enough to pre-order it for me as a birthday present last year, and I'm liking what I've played so far! Severely underrated setting, I think.
Glad to hear Digimon Story did so well! It seems like a fantastic RPG from the few hours I've played, looking forward to really getting into it once I finally finish off Persona 4: Golden.
I think it's probably a good call. You won't get accurate reviews from a massively online game like this if the servers are populated only with developers and reviewers. It's just not representative of the final product, both in number and the fact that it's a very specialised group of people playing.
Hmm. I liked Black Ops III and Advanced Warfare, but Ghosts was probably the worst CoD I played. I'm hesitant. Then again, maybe the success of Black Ops will drive them to make something better - who knows. I'll be waiting on some reviews before getting this one though.
There's a pretty good reason they're doing this - for all the love heaped on Valkyria Chronicles by hardcore fans (myself included), it didn't sell that well. In fact, name a strategy game that has sold well on PS4. Tropico and Grand Ages Medieval hardly set the world on fire, which is fine, as they're relatively small budget. XCOM isn't even getting a sequel on consoles because of poor sales. If you expand it to include strategy RPGs, I don't remember Divinity or Wasteland selling huge numbers.
I mean, there might be exceptions, but in general, turn-based strategy RPGs are a niche genre. And as much as I understand the frustration... I also understand why SEGAs changing the gameplay. The fact that they didn't even localise the third game shows that they just don't sell that well over here.
@Sir_JBizzle This one is the only one with a serious NXT presence. There's Zayn, Balor, Corbin, The Vaudevillains, Enzo & Cass, a couple of others...Samoa Joe is in there, but only in a DLC pack that released a few weeks ago I think. Still, I'd say that means he'll be in the next game right from the start, especially since the NXT presence in these games is only growing and he's much more prominent than he was at this time last year.
A.J Styles went straight to the main roster, so he should be in regardless
2K16 was really good in my opinion, most fun I've had with a wrestling game in years. No bemoaning from me! Plus, next year there'll be Samoa Joe vs A.J Styles in a WWE game, which is both surreal and amazing. I'll probably get it anyway since I enjoy 2K16 so much, but if they put some effort into the Women's division as well this year it's a day one buy for sure.
@rjejr The thing is, we kind of only have context for existing game franchises when asking for things to be announced. I mean, no one was clamouring for something like the original Ni No Kuni to be announced before it was - we had no idea we wanted anything like that! So personally, while I'd love some new IPs and such, I wouldn't know how to express which ones without just some vague contextual descriptions, like..."open-world medieval RPG" or something like that.
I suppose you could put unannounced projects like Sony Bend's next game on there, but without further info, it might not make for very good reading.
Just played through Actual Sunlight on my flight from Adelaide to Perth. Man, that was a confronting, harrowing game. Props to the developer for creating such a harsh and alienating experience - it really dealt with depression in an uncompromising way.
I've now got five hours at the airport to kill, so I might start Bastion, or keep chipping away at Persona 4. Maybe Lost Dimension!
@ferrers405 My thoughts exactly. Have they made a bad game? Or even a mediocre one? I don't think they have, and that sort of pedigree with downloadable titles makes them really valuable, I think.
Mark of Kri? War of the Monsters! Yes! Mark of Kri is fantastically underrated, and WOTM is one of the best guilty pleasure games I've ever played. Some of my favourite childhood memories were of playing that with my brother. I'll be honest, there are adulthood memories too, so it'd be great to play it on a stable system rather than my increasingly temperamental PS2
Excellent! Love this entry in the franchise, and MK is a series so ridiculous that guest fighters never seem really out of place. Nonetheless, I'd be partial to a legacy character (Sektor/Cyrax, Kabal, or Shang Tsung would get my vote) or an entirely new one. Interested to see what they announce!
@sonicmeerkat It wasn't really viable in Far Cry 4 in my experience...there were stealth melee kills, but if they know you're there, you'd run up to an enemy and just get clobbered and fall back down. Nothing you could really do. It honestly was very difficult even trying to take out one decent human enemy with it, in my experience.
I do love the game, but that system will require some serious reworking to be fun in Primal. I'm confident they'd be able to, though! It's a good team with a proven track record.
Well, I'm excited! I love Far Cry, and this is a severely under-represented setting in video games. My brother pre-ordered it for me for my birthday, so I'm really looking forward to taking a journey into an age of mammoths and sabre-toothed cats come February
@Tasuki Indeed, but isn't it mainly due to being on the cover of sports games? UFC isn't Madden, but I'm pretty sure people aren't suggesting it's just an EA thing, especially since the same "curse" would've been equally relevant back in 2010 when Brock Lesnar appeared on the cover of (the THQ produced) UFC Undisputed 2010, lost his title within months and had to retire the following year due to his diverticulitis. Also, I'm pretty sure it's largely on offshoot of the Sports Illustrated cover jinx, based on the same overarching theme of cover stars being at the peak of their careers, and if you're really at your peak, there's nowhere to go but down.
@JLPick I could be wrong, but isn't the lock button only there when the console isn't activated as your primary ps4? I had it there originally and couldn't play my downloaded games offline, but once I activated it, it just disappeared.
They narrowly dodged a similar bullet with WWE 2K16 this year by putting a retired wrestler on the cover. I read that if it wasn't Steve Austin, it would've been Seth Rollins. Within a week or two of the game's release, Seth Rollins blows out his knee during a match, sidelining him for 6-9 months and forcing him to vacate his championship...
Not a bad list, but I think it needs a little more EVERYBODY'S GOLF!!! I admit that it's more of a Tokyo Game Show kinda thing, but it's really appreciate a release date or something soon
Picked up Evolve with the first season included, definitely looking forward to trying it out! I originally wasn't interested at all until I saw that it had offline matches, now that I know it'll still be there even if the community dies, it seems like a far more attractive proposition.
Fantastic. I love their videos. PlayStation Access and OutsideXbox (I don't even have an Xbox, I just love the atmosphere) are two of my favourite YouTube channels!
@xMEADx It's not really a developer channel. None of the regular presenters are developers, they're just people who enjoy video games presenting some interesting videos about them. Not saying you should download it or anything if you're not interested, but I wouldn't want you to go away with the wrong idea about what the channel is
Lords of the Fallen has a GOTY edition, as does Dead Island, so I'm not sure winning an award is actually a prerequisite. That said, I don't feel personally that there's much this year that can contend with Bloodborne for that honour. I mean, I'm a big fan of lots of games that came out this year, but Bloodborne is head and shoulders above everything else in my book, with the exception of Dark Souls II: SOTFS, and I don't think remasters should really be eligible for GOTY.
Then again, November is rapidly approaching, and with it... Fallout. So we'll see about that Game of the Year award then
Tekken is easily my number one fighting game series. I remember renting Tekken Tag Tournament for PS2 so many times because there wasn't really a place to buy games in my small country hometown. It was so much fun, and now we're looking to get both Tekken 7 and Pokken Tournament in the same timeframe? Count me extremely hyped! All I need now is an Injustice 2 announcement.
I think this would absolutely work! Stormtroopers are basically perfect fodder for mowing down en masse with a lightsaber, and having just spent some time with the excellent Hyrule Warriors, I'm confident that they can do licensed properties justice in addition to Dynasty and Samurai Warriors!
There's so few video games set in a pre-historic period, even fewer set near the beginnings of human history. It's a tremendously underused setting, so count me very interested in this! Also, the art style from that image brings From Dust to mind, which I thought was extremely underrated, so that's an added bonus.
After finishing up the main game of Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition (a game so good I got the platinum twice!) I might get stuck into Nightmare in North Point. I've also been trying to conquer all five floors of the ziggurat, but I've only ever made it to four before I was unceremoniously mobbed by a pack of ravenous carrots. Fantastic game!
@NomNom Same with me. This may sound shallow, but I could never get past the aesthetic in Minecraft. I get that it's an indie game form an (originally) small studio, and I get why it looks the way it does, but I just didn't like looking at it, and when a game takes that much time investment, it'd better be pleasing on the eyes. This looks gorgeous though! I think I could really get into it.
@DominicanGlory That is true, I was more pointing out that Warner Bros have published some pretty good open world games recently - Shadow of Mordor, Dying Light, and (so I hear) Arkham Knight, so I kind of trust them as a publisher to deliver a pretty fun title
Great review! I might pick this up down the line. I always enjoy a nice post-apocalypse, and I'm inclined to give Warner Bros. the benefit of the doubt when creating an open world action game, especially after Shadows of Mordor turned out to be one of the best games of last year. That said, this certainly doesn't sound essential, so I think I'll wait for a price drop before taking that journey - assuming that price drop happens before Fallout 4 comes out.
Trying to work my way through Bloodborne at the moment, but just coming off of a Dark Souls II binge, it's somewhat difficult to adapt to the style. I might have a few rounds of Hand of Fate in between, which is spectacular, and give Armello a go if I get a chance.
To be honest, I wish this had been the PlayStation Plus game of the month instead of Grow Home. Grow Home looks cool, but pretty short, whereas I think I could get hours of entertainment out of playing this with friends! I'll probably get it anyway, but just one question - does it have a decent offline mode, with bots and such, or is it primarily a multiplayer game?
I'll be playing Dark Souls II: SOTFS if I get the chance. I've just begun my second journey through the world of Drangleic, and made mincemeat of the first four bosses within about an hour. It's possible I was somewhat overlevelled...but I'm expecting the difficulty to ramp up considerably soon.
I've decided not to buy anything until I've got the platinum on Dark Souls II, and at least finished one playthrough of Bloodborne, so let's hope I can get there by the time Fallout and WWE 2K16 come out, amid filling out Masters applications for uni next year!
Looking forward to Grow Home and Twisted Metal, but I probably won't get to them for a while...I've decided to Platinum Dark Souls II on PS4 before starting anything else, and if you're not a fan of PvP, it's quite a feat! Still, looking forward to trying some of these out when I get the chance, even if I would've personally preferred Armello over Grow Home.
Dragon's Dogma was one of my favourite games on PS3, so I'm definitely hoping for a Western release. I'm hesitant about the free to play aspect, but that world, and that combat system, and that brutal, unforgiving atmosphere? I'm cautiously optimistic!
Diablo III is just one of those games I'd never even consider trading in. Partially it's because of this excellent post-release support, but it's also because I don't think I'll ever really consider myself done playing it! It just draws me back in once every few months without fail.
So I'll definitely be downloading this patch, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it affects the gameplay, crafting especially! Maybe it's time to finally finish up that hardcore run.
I actually do think Toukiden: Kiwami is one of the best games so far this year! But I get that it's a pretty niche experience, and certainly not for everyone. I'd have to probably go with Bloodborne out of this list, though I'm not sure it'll still be in that position come Fallout 4.

Trying to work my way through Bloodborne at the moment, but just coming off of a Dark Souls II binge, it's somewhat difficult to adapt to the style. I might have a few rounds of Hand of Fate in between, which is spectacular, and give Armello a go if I get a chance.
Re: Review: Armello (PS4)
To be honest, I wish this had been the PlayStation Plus game of the month instead of Grow Home. Grow Home looks cool, but pretty short, whereas I think I could get hours of entertainment out of playing this with friends! I'll probably get it anyway, but just one question - does it have a decent offline mode, with bots and such, or is it primarily a multiplayer game?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 83
Re: Download Your Free PlayStation Plus Games Right Now
Looking forward to Grow Home and Twisted Metal, but I probably won't get to them for a while...I've decided to Platinum Dark Souls II on PS4 before starting anything else, and if you're not a fan of PvP, it's quite a feat! Still, looking forward to trying some of these out when I get the chance, even if I would've personally preferred Armello over Grow Home.
Re: Dragon's Dogma Online Proves to Be Hot Stuff in Japan at Launch
Dragon's Dogma was one of my favourite games on PS3, so I'm definitely hoping for a Western release. I'm hesitant about the free to play aspect, but that world, and that combat system, and that brutal, unforgiving atmosphere? I'm cautiously optimistic!
Re: NUK3TOWN Returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PS4
Nuketown on Black Ops 2 in 4-player local multiplayer was some of the most fun I've ever had in Call of Duty. Count me in!
Re: Diablo III's Gigantic New PS4 Patch Is Out Now
Diablo III is just one of those games I'd never even consider trading in.
Re: Feature: The Best PS4 Games of the Year So Far
I actually do think Toukiden: Kiwami is one of the best games so far this year! But I get that it's a pretty niche experience, and certainly not for everyone. I'd have to probably go with Bloodborne out of this list, though I'm not sure it'll still be in that position come Fallout 4.
