Re: Hands On: PSVR2 Represents the Next Big Step for VR

@neonpizza Yeah, i can relate to everything you say. Long time gamer here, and my interest in traditional flatscreen gaming is seriously in decline for quite a while. PS5 hasn't impressed me much either graphically. The SSD is nice and higher frames do add something, but real innovation in the medium itself is(VR aside) stagnant. Says much that i mostly use my PS5 for PSVR(PS4) games and own just three!! native PS5 ones after almost two years of ownage.(Horizon FW, BF2042 and Stray) I find it hard to get excited for anything flat nowadays, looking forward to play Zelda TotK for the Switch but that's mainly it. The days that flat games impressed with gfx and innovative gameplay are behind us, i remember that back in the day i was blown away by Pilotwings for the SNES, and later on Goldeneye for the N64 and maybe Half-life 2 for the original Xbox with it's daunting variety in gameplay made possible by the innovative physics engine. On the other hand, I do love VR and am excited to see what PSVR 2 will bring to the table. I was impressed when i played stuff like Farpoint with the Aim Controller and Wipeout Omega Collection for the first time on PSVR, obviously caused by the tech itself and nothing else. I have the PSVR 2 preordered, VR feels like the only way forward to me as stuff like raytracing and hitting unnescessary high framerates do little for me.

Re: Hands On: PSVR2 Represents the Next Big Step for VR

@Jireland92 That's the big question. Fact is that it slowly but surely wins terrain in terms of popularity, and to some degree the Quest 2 opened up the market to people who otherwise never would have tried it. This doesn't answer your question, i know, but nobody really knows where it will be years from now. It's basically technology that is still in it's infancy.

Re: Phantom Liberty to Boast the Biggest Budget CDPR Has Ever Allocated to DLC

Trousersnake

Excited to play this inside the PSVR 2 headset on the cinematic screen! Curious to see how much of an upgrade- and compared to my 4K tv- a downgrade it exactly is for flat games.. The immersion is way better on the bigscreen for sure, i did half of Spiderman and a decent part of Zelda BotW that way, but the lack of fidelity eventually made me return to the telly. If decent, i am going to use it more often again.

Re: This Use of PSVR2's Eye Tracking Is Truly Terrifying

Trousersnake

@MayaMousavi It truly is, the level of immersion is insane with scary games that are well designed. RE7 still takes the crown in my opinion of what's available for PSVR right now, and i can only dream of what PSVR 2 will be capable of! Back in the day i used to try explaining to people why horror in (flat)videogames can potentially be scarier than watching it in a movie- (in a game you decide for yourself if you go down the stairs leading to a pitch-black basement from where that unsettling noise erupts, instead of just gazing at someone that does all the discission making for you), and now VR has given the above mentioned a whole new meaning i can assure you!😬😁

Re: This Use of PSVR2's Eye Tracking Is Truly Terrifying

Trousersnake

Counting the days, got it in preorder! I'm one of those fools that still uses the PSVR 1 on a very regular basis connected to a PS5. Hardly played any native PS5 stuff at all, there's just very little that appeals to me these days in pancake mode. Horizon FW still sits on a shelf because i can't get into it. I play my rounds of BF2042 and enjoyed Stray,(the shorter story and cyberpunk world managed to keep me engaged) but everything else i play is VR. The real next-gen. kicks off february 22 for me personally and i'm excited beyond belief to be there from day one!!

Re: Game of the Year: Robert's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

Trousersnake

@Truegamer79 Definitely worth buying on a PS5! It helps if you're a sucker for dystopian sci fi worlds/stories, but the gorgeous graphics, atmosphere, density and impressive architecture of playground Night City make it worth to check out if open world action-rpg's sit well with you! Don't worry about bugs or glitches, they are occationally present but nothing unacceptable by now. CDPR did a good job patching it up! Recommended to play in performance mode, the game runs and feels great when activated.

Re: PSVR2 Pre-Orders No Longer Require an Invite

Trousersnake

@Mysticshadow Nope! I thought that too initially, but setting up your PayPal account the right way lets you preorder it now without any proof of having the funds! Just opt for linking your bankaccount with PayPal as the primary paymethod for online shopping instead of the PP wallet or a creditcard when logged in on PayPal, and the PS Direct website will let you place your order and sends an email confirmation even if your account balance is unsufficiënt(as was the case with me..😆) Just make sure you do have the funds five days before it releases, according to the email...🙂

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.61 Out Now, Fixes Bugs and Adds Umbrellas

Trousersnake

Thanks to this crossplatform save thingy i am finally able to continue my PS4 playthrough that has 250 hrs. on the clock! Due to some bug i couldn't import my PS4 save to the PS5 version. I started allover again, but couldn't find the persistance to keep playing. I finally am able to check the new content with a maxed out V again, and even better, not an endless list of Gigs, Cyberpsycho's and annoying police tasks. Tnx CDPR! Much appreciated! I can start the upcoming story expansion with all the skills and reputation that belong to a Streedkid roaming about for 250 hrs!😎🦾🦿

Re: PSVR2 Launches 22nd February 2023, Costs $550

Trousersnake

@bpomber Really, your mind has to adjust to it for some time. I got really bad motionsickness from Scavengers Odyssey after buying PSVR, but persisted and payed attention of a game's comfort settings and the motion-heaviness of certain VR games. After 3-6 months i knew exactly how to adjust the settings to my preference and was able to ignore comfort options regardless the game. Never felt any discomfort since and that's close to five years ago now. Gaining your 'VR-legs' means understanding the tech on a deeper layer, 'VR-conciousness' if you will. Not sure how to call it exactly but i can't feel sensations of motion anymore in VR. Like the first Rush of Blood sessions where you felt the decending cart in your stomache. That was fun, but it's related to being prone to motionsickness. I can do barrelrolls in NMS for hours on straight or play Wipeout Omega, no comfort enabled, all night long like i have done nothing else since birth. Tying my shoelaces is harder. Tell that to the VR noob that had to lay down flat a day after playing Scavengers Odd, he wouldn't have believed it.. Amateur psychology mode off. Conclusion: Resistance to getting sick of VR can be learned/trained.

Re: PSVR2 Launches 22nd February 2023, Costs $550

Trousersnake

@LP09 ...But with haptics and actual comfort when wearing! Silliness aside, you're dead right. If you're into VR and still haven't got a PS5 it's a very steep hill you have to climb. I got a PS5 as soon as i could, i had to turn to a online-marketplace to even get a chance and paid €650 for the discversion. Have one for 1,5 year now, primarily for not having to spend €1500 all at once when PSVR 2 releases. I feel sorry for those who will, glad i'm already one foot in!

Re: PSVR2 Launches 22nd February 2023, Costs $550

Trousersnake

@Mauzuri You're delusional if you really thought that a headset that can rival with the best of 'em on PC(within the €800-1500 price range ofcourse) and even surpass them at points, would be priced $/€200-300. That's impossible with this kind of high-end tech. I also hoped it would be €100 less, but tbh this is a bargain already for what you get. VR enthousiasts like myself want the best that's possible for PSVR 2 without having to shelf out €1000-1500 like on PC. This thing is not for every once-in-a-while usage, i will play the rest of PS5's lifecycle with this damn thing mounted to my face, period! VR already killed flat gaming by a large chunk for me personally.

Re: Rumour: Sony Will Flood Stores with PS5 Stock in 2023, Revamped Model Due in September

Trousersnake

@sanderson72 Probably not one of your interests, but i can see a potential PS5 Pro contributing a lot to the PSVR 2 in a few years time. Just as i bought the PS4 Pro a few years back, to keep up with the best image quality possible on the now aged headset. PSVR 2 will no doubt be a greater success than the first one as VR in general now appeals to a larger audience than five years ago. A part of the PCVR market will also turn to PS5/PSVR 2 for affordable mid/high-end VR. A PS5 Pro can keep PSVR 2 relevant 2-3 years from now.

Re: How Does the $1,500 Meta Quest Pro Compare to PSVR2?

Trousersnake

PSVR 2 is going to be everything i hoped it would be. Well, except for a sleeker, more leaning towards a ski-mask kind of design. PSVR 2 looks just as bulky as the first one, which is a bit dissapointing to me. The Quest Pro looks tbh what i wanted for the PSVR 2.. Amazing design, probably quicker to put on/take off. Wondering how good it is at blocking all the light, these blinder things look tiny.. Guess it'll be suffice. The ultimate dream model PSVR 2 would be for me: Quest Pro's design(visually), PSVR 2's specs. and controller(features) and Pimax's resolution and FOV(which is with the Quest Pro's appearance impossible, yeah i know.)😁😎😂

Re: No Man's Sky Guide: Tips, Tricks, and Where to Start

Trousersnake

I'm not exactly a fan of survival games, and the necessary heavy grinding that sits at the core of what NMS is. Before it went VR i played Normal mode and decided it wasn't for me. I do love sci-fi and VR, so i tried it that way and this time in Creative mode. That was more than 100 ingame hours ago.. I like the immersion and exploring, no pressure, just chilling and searching the universe for nice habitable planets and other stuff to do and see. Everytime a new update drops i take a peek to see what's new. I'm glad i found a way to enjoy NMS, this game is both terrible and fantastic at the same time for me if you catch my drift.. I only wish there was a mode that combined the deactivated grinding/crafting with taking damage from enemies and hazardous environments. I love Creative Mode's freedom but kinda miss the awareness that comes with being vulnerable. A mode right in between Normal and Creative would be tailor made for me..!

Re: PS5's Bonkers Dev Kit Looks Like an Alien Space Craft in the Flesh

Trousersnake

I wouldn't mind if it was the final design. I like my tech stuff being symmetrical and the retail PS5 is everything but that. It just looks deformed, sort of molten and clearly unstable to me. I have black covers which helps with not noticing it everytime i look at the telly. It also needs that clunky stand to sit horizontal and even then it's unstable. Plugging cables in or out always relocates the stand too as it's not possible to get it firmly attached. It just barely able to sit in the right angle underneath. Accidentaly move the PS5 a bit and the stand dispositions with it, Ugh.The dev kit looks kind of retro-futuristic, which i like, and looks stable and balanced. And it's grey/black, that's a plus too. ***** that opening cyborg oyster design, i vote for devkit! (I like my PS5 for just about everything else, though...)😊❤

Re: Mini Review: Metal: Hellsinger (PS5) – Brilliant Gameplay Surrounded by Banality

Trousersnake

I played the demo three times in a row and had a blast, it plays great, is pretty original and the music is right up my alley. I honestly think the only thing that's barebones here is the review, almost nothing about the bands and music is mentioned, and how addicting it is to get in the flow of it all with layers of music being added when you perform well. I might be biased as a metalhead, sure, a six out of ten just feels out of place for me.

Re: PSVR2 Isn't Backwards Compatible with PSVR Games, Sony Confirms

Trousersnake

@Sqush-Pare Yup, just like every new console replaces the predecessor and eventually stops receiving new titles. Difference is most consoles are backwards compatible, and you can play last-gen or even older stuff on your new machine. PS5 supports PSVR, so if you hold on to the old headset you'll be able to play those titles too. Jumping into VR on PS as a newbie means next year you can't play PSVR 1 games.(Unless you buy the old headset as well).

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage Will Try to Bring Unity's Highly Praised Parkour System Back

Trousersnake

I grew tired of the franchise after the simultaneously released Unity and Rogue. I finished all the AC's before it, and albeit fun to play, the similarities in gameplay and copy-paste scenery in each one of them combined with the annual release turned me off. I know Origins and Odyssey innovated somewhat but not enough to get me engaged again. The smaller scope of Mirage and a return to the middle east setting got my attention again after years without AC, so maybe i will give this one a go if it turns out to be good. The focus on primarily assassinations and stealth, stripping all rpg'ness out of it reminds me of the first AC and i like that. I love rpg's but a ton of other titles also do the looting, crafting, farming, sidequests, levelling up etcetera. It will be fun to see how AC does without all that and if it needs it in the first place..

Re: Play Far Cry 6, Including Its DLC, for Free This Weekend

Trousersnake

Played for an hour or so, but decided to let the franchise rest. After FC 2, 3 and 4 it's enough of the same kind of gameplay, uninspired environments, the map with 1000+ icons and horrible graphics on PS5 that seem stuck in the PS3 era. I don't even want it for free Ubisoft, there are way better games to waste my time on!

Re: Sony Unveils PSVR2 User Experience, Including See-Through View, Customisable Play Area

Trousersnake

@UnlimitedSevens Hell yeah! This old geizer experienced a newfound love for the medium videogames alltogether, when flat gaming felt more and more stagnant and failed to impress with new and innovative stuff.. I burnt out on traditional gaming and VR came along exactly at the right time to light a spark that was gone for a long time. All hail the future of gaming, long live PSVR 2!!!
