@itsfoz I follow. This patch removed a fair amount of graphical fidelity in order to perform better on base PS4. As a result it suddenly looks beyond terrible on PS5 as well. Streets have no reflections anymore and distant buildings look horribly low poly. I spent 200 hours in it and accepted it's shortcomings, but this is annoying the crap out of me. I guess more downgraded stuff will follow, so i feel forced to shelf the game for now. Stupid CDPR, they could have added an option to choose between PS5/PS4...
As someone who never played Skyrim on a flat screen and gave it a try on PSVR, i can only say that i totally fell in love with it and am happily adventuring for almost a year now! I play a lot of other stuff too, but when i'm busy with it it still blows my mind at times. The atmosphere, especially inside caves and temples is just so claustrophobic and creepy, truly impressive with the headset on. I extensively played Oblivion back in the PS3 days, but somehow didn't connect with it and gave up halfway through. Never bothered to try Skyrim as a result of that, but man am i glad i finally gave it a try when the VR version came around! I play on a PS4 Pro and the image quality is clear enough for me, i just ignore all those gorgeous YT vids of mods for Skyrim PCVR, lol. It would be nice if Skyrim VR recieved some kind of update too for this anniversary thing, i enjoy the crap out of it but there is definitely room for improvement here and there. I'm a lefty and am using the Move controllers, but the configuration options are seriously broken. I want to wield a sword with my left hand, but the game only lets me do so if i navigate with right.. I use the right hand config so i can move with left, but am limited to one-handed weapons for it at the same time. I can't use a shield at all as it is designated to the same hand. No option to swap hands. My right hand is casting that firespell so i have at least something to use at a distance, since using a bow is right hand config. and feels terribly unnatural for me. Lunacy Bethesda doesn't let you assign buttons the way you prefer them. Even small indie vr devs usually put more thought in comforting lefty gamers as well.. Real bummer but i managed to work around it, limited to using the same type of weapons everytime. Lol. That said, as a physically disabled swordsman i struggle happily through the whole thing and am having a blast regardlessly! Thanks Bethesda for letting me experience Skyrim in VR, and at the same time screw you for not giving a damn to update the broken lefty controls.. (And selling your soul to Microsoft..βΉοΈπ) Whoever took the time to read all of this, you must be close to being just as bored as i am on this rainy sunday. Cheers to that! Now back to Whiterun to start a barfight and set fire to my dog.
@AchievingGamer I'm on PS4 Pro and it's very playable. The city itself, the verticality of the structures in it and the atmosphere surrounding it is truly something to behold, especially at nighttime. The game has me in it's grip for months now and i still haven't finished it. The missions, characters, and basically overall gameplay is fine, nothing really innovative but familiar if you like games such as Deus Ex, Far Cry and GTA. Still plenty glitches and bugs but not as annoyingly present as half a year ago. The crashes have dissapeared completely, at least on PS4 Pro. AI is still weak and texture pop in also present, but not on 'ruining the experience level' for me. It's a pretty deep experience with lots of things to track, try out and experiment with, a GTA feels simplistic and linear in comparison. The world itself lacks the attention to detail GTA has.
If you like Far Cry's gameplay, mixed with Deus Ex, GTA, a grain of Fallout and even Mirror's Edge, purchase is justified for sure. Base PS4 seems to struggle a lot more with rendering chunks of environment and keeping the framerate steady, so Ps4 Pro or PS5 are highly reccomended!
Don't believe the hype, nor the bashing, and you'll find a decent game in the middle.π
@mariomaster96 I was going to say the almost exact same, with Zelda in mind as example of a proven series that i DO buy blind on day-one... How do we know if we will like the first enstallment of a new franchise that looks and sounds pretty generic on paper?? Credibility has to be EARNED. I downed it from PS Plus and will give it a try.. A title i already chose to skip long ago. BE GLAD WE CAN CHOOSE TO GIVE IT A SECOND CHANCE, Mr GARVIN.. Most of us can afford only one, or maybe two new games a month. .Maybe we will like it even more than we expected and pick a possible sequel up for full price!!? This Ain't no Zelda, Metroid, Uncharted or Metal Gear Solid (yet) duh!
I do hope it's good, and am happily surprised i will be able to check it out finally. It didn't survive the selection from to-buy list to actual purchase back then. Open world, zombies, post apocalyptic setting, survival, rpg elements... bla bla..C'mon, every gaming enthousiast knows why it didn't make it, lolππ
I've been playing for three days straight now, must have 80 hours or so in it overall and i'm enjoying myself for sure! PS4 Pro btw, the new patch made it definitely a more stable and smooth affair. This game feels like the ***** child of the daddies Far Cry, Fallout, GTA, Mirror's Edge and mommy Deus Ex!ππ€π€·
Fallout and Elder Scrolls, obviously. I can live without a Wolfenstein, Doom or Dishonored. Not buying an Xbox for it though. Next to my PS's there has to sit a Nintendo system, because Zelda. Zelda>Elder Scroll
Still have to dive deeper into Iron Man, somehow it didn't really catch me first few levels and haven't played SW Squadrons yet. One game that really amazed and enchanted me and held me in a tight grip is Paper Beast. A true gem for anyone willing to let it in! Best puzzle game i played since Portal 2. No doubt. Surreal and captivating all the way.
"Service" games, i still just call them online or multiplayer games... Let's see, Rocket League, Battlefield 4&5, Firewall ZH and a bit of Wipeout Omega and Wreckfest, although the service part ended long ago for BF4 and Wipeout. Still can't get enough of them, lol. That's it, the rest is singleplayer such as Cyberpunk, Skyrim VR, TloU2 and Dishonored 2 atm.
@TheRedComet Same. I sank more than 300 hours in it, i would like to see another open world rpg-ish game to do that too for me on the PS.. Don't use my Switch much tbh, i love Nintendo but the library makes me wanna cry. I will hold on to it because of BotW 2 and some little niche title, i believe it's called something like Metroid Prime 4..π
@DonJorginho It's rediculously similar to the last two Deus Ex games after a few hours of play to me.. I expected it to have some stuff in common but it is almost like a different studio created a new DE with an open-world approach and increased RPG mechanics. The world feels more alive, where DE has a more static and less populated appearance to it. As a fan of the DE games i am having a blast exploring Night City for sure! Patch 1.04 made all the technical issues a lot more bearable imo.
Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 Pro all weekend for sure! Patch 1.04 seems to provide less hiccups and slightly better graphics, but just encountered my first crash unfortunately. Hoping it stays occasional dammit!
Not plugged in anymore, but i will hold on to it just as i do with all my retro systems. I have lots of games for them and like to keep 'em out of nostalgia i guess..Not only PlayStation but also Nintendoπ
Brilliant! Don't use it, 20 years from now unique factory assemble errors like this are highly collectable and only increase in value! Wich veteran PS gamer looks at the symbols anyway..
@thefourfoldroot Exactly. I'm still an avid PSVR user, games with an optional VR mode are often way more enjoyable then the flat counterpart for me. It's a huge dissapointment to play stuff like RE7, No Man's Sky or Wipeout Omega on a tv set again. Hell, as far as i'm concerned almost everything is more immersive, impressive and exciting in VR. It's definitely not for everyone, it has it's own hurdles and growing pains still, but i see it as the only way forward in the evolution of computergames. Flat gaming is running out if ideas fast if u ask me..
@Deadlyblack Exactly. I started playing Skyrim VR not too long ago, and i really don't want to think about starting allover.. Great solution, although i wasn't expecting anything less tbh
8-15... Traditionally launch titles are often not the most memorable games of a generation, so i blame someone else..π
If the poll handled only the N64 i would have scored a perfect 10/10, since it launched with only two games.. AAA-stuff too, Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64 are both classics! Such a great strategy, who wants cross-gen third party stuff that's average at best? No idea which game to choose for the PS5, Miles Morales probably but out of misery for sure.
Finally a Ubisoft title that caught my interest again, after abandoning AC and Far Cry completely. Huge BotW fan here, so any resemblence is fine with me! Beyond Good & Evil 2 also looks cool, but that may release as a launch title for PS6 with this speed..
Still devoted to Nintendo back then, so i had a N64. PS2 was my first PS and from there i bought all the consoles. Dropped Xbox this generation though, in favor of PSVR. No regrets!
Can't wait to finally go bonkers with this gem! If only it could be played in VR, that kinda feels like a missed opportunity for something this big and captivating.. Now busy with Skyrim VR, never bothered playing the pancake version and i'm glad i didn't. Just travelling and watching the weather change and gazing at the northernlight at night makes me feel enchanted. Not to mention the countless caves and dungeons that feel really claustrophobic and terrifying in VR. CP2077 in VR.. A man can dream, right? π
