During the latest Night City Wire broadcast, Cyberpunk 2077 game director Gabriel Amatangelo shared a few details on the title's next update (update 1.6 was only just released at the time of writing). Supposedly titled patch 1.7, the update doesn't have a release date yet, but it sounds like it's going to be a big deal.
Amatangelo mentioned a complete overhaul to 2077's police system, which has been a point of criticism ever since the game launched in December 2020. Vehicle-to-vehicle combat will also be getting reworked — it's practically non-existent right now — and melee gameplay is being adjusted to improve the "flow". Consider us intrigued.
We'll no doubt hear more about this future update in the months to come. With Cyberpunk 2077's first expansion, Phantom Liberty, set for 2023, this patch will, presumably, drop ahead of the DLC itself. We're probably looking at late 2022 or early 2023, then.

Well, I was going to start this after I finish Chorus... buuuut I'll definitely hold out for these changes.
As a melee build player i'm excited for this.
Are these updates going to continue for last gen consoles or going forward everything is current gen only?
@Milktastrophe From what I understand, this future update will be current-gen only. The update that's out today, 1.6, is the final PS4 update.
Yeah I’ll wait for the big PS5 update then. I half played it way back at the start so actually looking forward to waiting a few months and playing the ‘proper’ game.
I bought this in a sale earlier this year but haven’t gotten around to it as keep getting distracted by other games.
I’ll wait the 1.7 update I think but I’m excited to dive in when it drops.
Looking forward to play this game...when the GOTY edition(or whatever they call it) is 50% off.
Still have the disk and have planned to go back to it at some point to see what the PS5 version is like, but will wait until this update drops.
Really love this game after holding off until the next gen upgrade. Maybe it's time for a 2nd play through. Cdpr is coming through on their redemption, and I respect anybody who does that.
Where is new game plus CDPR?!
This just makes me hold for the updates instead of trying the game again!
And I don't want to be mean or something but No Man's Sky (indie, btw) does bigger and better updates more regularly than them and it's a shame. Months and months for transmog and a bunch of new weapons is sad!

Yep at this point I’ll start my 3rd play through at the end of 2023 when the games complete.
Nearly two years since the game was released and we're still waiting for basic fixes that shouldn't have been needed in a commercial release in the first place.
Oh well. I've waited this long.
I bought this game day 1 for some reason but still waiting for it to be finished before playing it lmao
i really didnt enjoy the game. massively over hyped imo. keanu just drones on and on, oh and you are so close to 'dying' that you can do hours upon hours of side missions. yep i know im in the minority but it just disappointed.
So it’ll be finished in 2027.
Didn't buy this yet, but I think I'll buy it on early 2023 after the phantom liberty dlc.
Nice to see a game get developed after its already been sold to people. Games industry definitely in a healthy place.
