Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time PS4 PlayStation

The long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been hit with yet another delay but has not been cancelled, according to Ubisoft. At this point, though, it is starting to feel a little like gaslighting.

Concerns that the project had been cancelled were raised after retailers like GameStop began delisting the title. This is thankfully not the case though as the timeline to release has just been pushed forward.

In a statement to IGN, Ubisoft said: "The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We’re proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake."

Ubisoft continued: "As a consequence, we are no longer targeting an FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along."

Originally released on PS2, Sands of Time is a beloved game, set in a universe that we would be excited to revisit. Here's hoping the remake, whenever we do finally get our hands on it, turns out better than that Jake Gyllenhaal abomination of the same name.
