Re: Where to Pre-Order GTA 6 on PS5

Supern0va

Currently can get vouchers for the ultimate edition on shopto for £79.70.

I'm not one to pre-order anything, but may make an exception in this case as November is usually a tight month.

Re: Valve's New Steam Machine Costs Almost Twice as Much as a PS5

Supern0va

Want a games console? Get a PS5 - better specs and cheaper.

Want a Linux games console? Get a Linux PC that offers same specs at cheaper price.

Want an overpriced Linux games console that offers terrible value for money? Get a Steam Machine.

It should be called the Conspicuous Consumption Machine.

Re: UK Gamers Question Hobby's Future as Government Bans Kids from Social Media

Supern0va

@NerdyPaul You keep mentioning that we should address what makes social media toxic rather than ban it. That's the whole point of it, is to suck you in and keep you scrolling by any means necessary. And let's say yes it's political theatre, that's fine too. Ultimately if it makes even a 1% difference of kids not using it and making them mentally better off, surely that's a good thing.

Re: UK Gamers Question Hobby's Future as Government Bans Kids from Social Media

Supern0va

@NerdyPaul Yes let's write a nice email to Zuck and Elon asking them to change their algorithms which have made them billions... The 'worthless' ban won't stop kids gaining access, the same way legislation won't stop kids getting hold of booze or having underage sex, but it marks a line in the sand that it's wrong that kids access social media. While not being a silver bullet it will have some effect and is actually achievable.

Re: UK Gamers Question Hobby's Future as Government Bans Kids from Social Media

Supern0va

I don't think it will have an effect of gaming, more an attempt to get kids off the fecal cesspit doom scrolling of FB, TikTok, Insta etc which is good thing.

When your kid turns round and say 'why can't I have FB all my mates do'. Giving them the answer 'Because its the law', and ALSO explaining to them why the law is there, is much better than just saying to them 'in my opinion, it's a cesspit and I don't want you on it.'

I'm glad a line in the sand will be drawn and Kier finally has the balls to do something that shows a spine for once.

Re: Feature: 15 Years Ago Today, We All Pushed Square to Doubt

Supern0va

The 'reading faces' was a massively overrated gimmick for me.

A lot of the time you'd have to wait AFTER the character spoke to see if their eyes twitched or they looked dodgy or whatever, which resulted in weirdly long pauses between dialogue.

Only to then find out I'd 'doubted' wrongly. Never finished it.

"Posing as a journalist requires a camera and a press pass – one that isn’t readily available." So MI6 can get you dropped in via parachute to a crane but cannot get you a press pass.

Yes, yes, I know - it's a game. I just hope there isn't too much Hitman-esqe stuff especially with 'ranking' system at the end to let you know how bad you've played the level.

Re: Assassin's Creed Fans Furious as Physical Copies of Black Flag's PS5 Remake Will Require Internet

Supern0va

@Kalime78 The word 'Furious' is literally in the headline. And PushSquare loves cherry picking the minority of social media accounts to back up the headline that are on the 'on-disc or bust' pitchfork bandwagon.

I find it such a bizarre principal that people get irate about a game they bought today MIGHT not work many years down the line. Is there even an example of a well known SINGLE PLAYER game that no longer works TODAY due to activation servers going down?

Realistically the gold release won't even fit on the disc or be ready to ship printed on the disc. Welcome to the dystopian future. I get how it's possibly mildly annoying, but people refusing to buy because of it and social accounts such as 'Physical Forever' just seem too far out of touch.

Re: Assassin's Creed Fans Furious as Physical Copies of Black Flag's PS5 Remake Will Require Internet

Supern0va

PushSquare sure has found it's niche with these 'Furious' people who refuse to buy a game that requires internet! "But its about PrEsErVatION!!! I want to play it when I'm 80 and live in my post-apocalyptic bunker!!"

In 20 years time if/when that happens, guess what, you'll STILL be able to pick it up from some abandonware site or run in some kind of emu on a bargain bin laptop by that time.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Devs Explain One of the Best Open World Weather Systems in Gaming

Supern0va

I'm currently playing Shadows and am honestly blown away with it. The weather system is fantastic. And it's easily the best looking open-world game I've played.

And as someone who had a bit of burnout with the franchise, the combat is also fantastic, the dual protagonists are so much fun to play as, and I love how mission objectives are no longer just map markers; you have to actually go and find this dude who is 'by a bridge south-west in Kyoto'.

The story, writing, and characters aren't on a par with The Witcher, but they're fine, and the rest of the game more than makes up for it.

Re: Awful PS5 Dino Shooter Code Violet Will Get a Sequel... for Some Reason

Supern0va

@Icey664 It's developed by 4 people. Assuming EVERYONE who played left a review, that's £112,000 in sales taking platform fees into account. If 1% of people left a review, then it's a ridiculous £11.2m in sales less platform fees.

They had 6 VA's to pay and other software licensing fees, so take that with a pinch of salt, but however you spin it, it's a pretty good take home profit for a 4 man team.

Re: Talking Point: The Game Awards 2025 Nominations Announced - Who Are Your Winners?

Supern0va

I've just finished E33 and I thought it was...ok?

In fairness, I went straight on to it from finishing GoW Ragnarok so I'd gotten used to an unreasonably high level of quality for comparison. Visually, E33 was just ok - yes the environments were dreamy and beautiful, but they lacked any real foreground detail, and after a while, running through them all felt a bit samey. The graphics technically were just ok, even on performance mode it felt like the game was struggling to render, and lip-synching was noticeably poor. Gameplay never really evolved or added anything new throughout the entire game.

While the over-arching story felt fresh, I didn't feel hugely for the characters, other than Maelle, and their storytelling wasn't particularly developed throughout, other than the few 'big reveal' moments. Comparing it to GoW 2, for example, where the story and character development emerged from and during the gameplay, I didn't have the inclination to think "ok, I'd like to press X to learn more about this character" round the campfire in E33. I also found the picto/lumina system to be detractory - are 193 pictos really necessary?! I spent a silly amount of time flicking though menus and equipping/switching the damn things, and resetting skill points than felt necessary.

On the plus side, soundtrack was perfection, and I like that each character had their own unique attack mechanism although I found some of them a bit confusing. And yes, I could have done with an map marker system on the main continent map, and a quest log of some kind - not Ubisoft level of handholding, but a Morrowind style journal or something would have been useful as I often found some areas that were locked off, with no idea how or when or why they would open up.

I can certainly feel the love the developer had for the title, but feel the hype train went a bit overboard with this one.

Re: Indiana Jones Uncovers The Order of Giants in New PS5 DLC Out Now

Supern0va

I'm towards the tail end of the main game, and I'm sorry to say I wont be returning, as I've found the main game thus far to be hugely underwhelming.

The environments haven't inspired a sense of awe and wonder as, say, Uncharted 4. They could have had some epic vistas and underground areas, but everything seems so small and enclosed. I'm no brain box, but the puzzles seemed incredibly easy. The enemy AI is nonexistent with a visual range of 6ft and the memory of a housefly. No inspiring or creative use of movement, climbing, using the whip. No set pieces other than Shanghai and the battleship. The 'stones' being a macguffin to have you wondering around the various locations with no real plot or character development. The Emperors tomb was a far better game in my opinion!
