With its 10th June 2025 release date right around the corner, physical PS5 copies of MindsEye have started to appear, posted online by buyers. Given the curiosity surrounding the title, many purchasers have immediately jumped into the game before the day one patch is out.
The results, as you might expect, are less than impressive.
In a series of Twitter posts, user MrHazel88 documented their first experiences with the game. They say they have now encountered a bug that stops them progressing, but prior to that, they said the version that ships on the disc is "almost like the same as it was when Mass Effect Andromeda" released.

They note multiple fame rate drops, a screen flicker while panning the camera, "washy" visuals, and the game being so blurry that you sometimes struggle to make things out on-screen. They say shooting feels bad and the "current build needs some love".
In response to the retail leak, developer Build a Rocket Boy has asked early buyers to wait for a "major" day one patch that will bring "key improvements to ensure MindsEye plays as we intended and to meet all the characters at their best".
The team wants everyone to experience "the story the same way at the same time on day one", and "without bias". This is because one of the firm's co-CEOs believes people are being paid to "trash the game" online.
