@Ryall the launch and build to the to games couldn’t be more different. We know that one is a multiplayer, dlc and MTX laden mess. What they should have done is made a solo player epic with any gunk and it’ll make more money. I hope WB learn as they’ve been hurt by the way they market games and this time rewarded when they’ve done it right.

Gotham nights I’m enjoying - on steam deck - it’s not perfect but it’s good (but I got it in a charity bundle with a stack of other games for £12 - I adjust slider and gave most I could to charity.) it rightly got hammered for some terrible marketing and design decisions. In all reality it plays exactly like the old Batman games.

This game was so bold and clear from the start what it was and never swayed from that. There was never the bad news. (No MTX added after release too) it’s how to do a video game. Hopefully others will learn from it.

This is what happens when you announce early on no horrible DLC model with content that should be in the game locked. (Still had rubbish day one preorder DLC mind you), No Microtransactions, and release footage that matches your ambition, add to that the game comes from a beloved universe and despite the constant noise from the likes of push square and their own “bubble” there was zero controversy around the game for 97% of the population. This all helps. (I have no doubt the 3% actually helped sales) the message is clear, make a good old fashioned story game focus on solo player and don’t fill with Microtransactions and dlc and you will sell loads.

@kyleforrester87 I left a negative comment and I was and am gonna buy it. With all that has gone on and with enough games “doing it better” I’ll get it in the sale but I am looking forward to seeing it. I criticise a great many games I want and go on to enjoy. You can disagree things they do and still find enjoyment. It’s especially when games come along in universes you want to enjoy but are riddled with greedy nonsense.

Loads of my fave games from last 4/5 years have had terrible greedy and grubby features in them with a horrific grind designed to make you part your money and some if learnt to accept I won’t have the grindy content and some I’ve found ways to accept the grind others I’ve found ways to dodge the grind. Others with horrible dlc like this I’ve either waited for a sale or skipped.

It’s not ideal and in many ways I am feeding the beast but to say negative posters wouldn’t buy a game anyway is completely untrue.

Historically a LOTR game for me would be day one. This has made enough missteps and other games have my full attention I’ll try and wait for a price drop.

Greed is a funny business.

Make your game good. Make your game immersive. Concentrate on selling the game before you start trying to cash in on silly dlc.

It’s funny how people here and on Xbox websites say how amazing the service is…. Then when a load of big games get removed all at once they claim “they are all rubbish” it’s like you just like the service coz it’s on Xbox/playstation.

I give full props to push square they often have articles calling out Sony when stuff doesn’t seem quite right. This is another occasion where they are right to do so.

No doubt idiots will come in the comments section and tell us Disney has “ruined” Star Wars 🤣

If you think that you really haven’t been watching.

It’s not all been perfect but some of it has been exceptional.

I think it’s good they don’t just have jedis everywhere and want to trust those telling the stories.

The way order 66 works/worked and they way the force works it’s possible to both have survivors and self taught jedis moving forward.

You don’t have to go to church to be a Christian. You can learn the way of the Jedi yourself. That will be explored for sure.

This game looks superb. So was the first. Whilst some moan about all things Star Wars. - the video games have mainly been good. We’ve in all honesty had very few duds when judging them on solo player stories/modes especially

Unlike others I think 150 is a sensibly well thought out target price here, people saying 250…. You are not far off a base Steam deck… the steam deck is a remarkable bit of kit. You’d have that everyday of the week.

Once again. Games like this are best avoided. Terrible business model designed to hook you and take your money. There is no reason they can’t let people continue to play. Especially as they charge people money. If it had of been a free beta it’s different.

Not had a go on franchise mode for years. Might have to have a go. See if it’s come on leaps and bounds.

Single player is fine and anywhere below £15 and you should get enough enjoyment. The start of the story mode is really good. Ok it has a few difficultly spikes and issues with certain enemies but now with plenty of content that was hidden behind a paywall (I assume you still need to unlock some them through game play?) there is enough here to make it a fun solo player experience.

Yeah I picked it up cheap for PlayStation five and then ended up being for at least a week 2 hours from playstation 5 so also got it on Xbox.

It’s a good game. I know it got loads of hate: and it has plenty of issues but for £10 it’s well worth it.

Got it in a charity bundle for my steam deck and about 5-6 hours in - I’m only playing as one character so far, I’ve found now where I can change character (it wasn’t well sign posted IMHO) but I’m tempted to play as one character all the way through and then when I play on Xbox/ps5 do a play through as different characters. Achievements wise that’s not a good plan but I don’t care about achievements. It could of course force me to change character at some point maybe.

The cutscenes seem very character specific so I feel like it’ll be quite different playing as a different character. (I’m probably wrong)

Enjoying the suit choices and crafting stuff for variation. The combat is just same as the old Batman games and I loved those so no issues there and the story is good.

The living La Vida loca cover for that scene was brilliant. Approve of a decent soundtrack. Felt very movie like.

For a tenner id give it a solid 8.

Maybe when new NCAA games are released. Until then it’s very much current gen for me.

No surprise anything to do with this game gets a load of negativity. It’s a cracking solo player campaign. Can be picked up for peanuts and the biggest issue was all the content being locked and it’s now unlocked.

Win win. Shame the extra characters were scrapped. This really is a good game.

Modern gaming is rubbish and people and especially the gaming media makes excuses and allows it.

Instead of random backlashes to some games that do stuff and not others we should all stand together and ran certain things out of gaming for good.

@Bleachedsmiles I’m a GPU subscriber and I haven’t won. Same as the Bethesda deal. I get a load of old games “free” but Bethesda and Activision will release less games to fit in a GPU calendar meaning less of the games I love.

Before we could see a Forza game, COD and Fallout all release same month and now that just won’t happen. IPs will become pretty much dormant as the back catalog is leaned on: MS and Sony have plenty of dormant IPs they can use and don’t adding another 30 from Activision and Bethesda has made that worse especially when you’ll get 4/5 big game a year MAX from Xbox and we all know they have all now put GaaS elements in their major AAA games to try and hook people into GPU for longer.

I’d rather pay for games and get proper campaigns and more of them.

Honestly, it’s flabbergasting, it’s bad enough people that claim to be real gamers claim this won’t hurt competition, how can anyone say the biggest 3rd party franchise being owned by one of Xbox or Sony is a good thing for gamers?!??

I’d be against it if it was Sony just as I am for Xbox.

It’s a 7 out of ten game. Elevated to 8 because of the story and music. Elevated to a 9 because of the amazing world JK Rowling created and a 10 because of the the silly narrative that the gaming media have tried to force on the game.

Genuinely haven’t smiled and enjoyed a game this much in years. We need a Star Wars game this good. As in open world that feels this loved.

I own and visit websites for Sony, Xbox, Nintendo and steam deck…. I don’t agree with everything any of them do, they all make mistakes, they all have toxic elements in their fanbases, by far and away the worse are the Xbox only crew, Xbox can be like cult, they must not be questioned.

Any idiot can see the Activision deal is bad for gamers. Even Xbox gamers. It’s another load of IPs to squeeze into the 4 AAA (max) exclusives a year on GPU. It’ll be years before we see games like fallout and doom already, let alone throwing SpYro and everything else in the mix. We had zero AAA exclusives last year on GPU.

I’d rather pay for exclusives and get more. Keep 3rd party IPs 3rd party.

Yeah the map was the biggest issue. One level I was lost for hours to the point of annoyance. Make the map better would be my number 1.

I’m hoping for a few things in this new game. Setting wise. I’m avoiding game play videos and screen shots so I can discover new locations as they come

@trev666 Xbox/MS isn’t a charity. If it’s making a loss it won’t last. They didn’t get where they were by accepting massive long term losses.

I know personally I want choice.

I want more third party games not less.
I want more choice of consoles.
I want more exclusive games.
I don’t like anything that hurts the industry and forces companies to chase a quick easy buck.

I want good solo player campaigns. Good sports and good racing games.

I sub to GPU and I’d rather pay for exclusives over the last three years it’s clear the model doesn’t work. It’s stifled Xbox exclusives and compromised the ones we did get.

Even the excellent Forza games were flooded with live service elements to fit the keep them on the hook subscription model.

So bizarre that Pure Xbox still don’t have a story on this…..

Less wars. better standard of living for all. Fairer taxation. Everyone having the same rights, security and safety. People can label me what they want. Anyone that doesn’t want all that I’ve listed above is the crazy one not me.

So I’ll be a leftie movie snowflake. I’m not offended by anything or anyone and don’t want anyone cancelled. I want better education so we don’t have the hatred and bile we see in society and people understand why some options are just counterproductive.

I respect you mate, I agree most people involved in both sides are close in how we feel, for sure, some are more chilled out about stuff, others are rightly more invested, I have issues with how the whole discussion is being framed by the gaming media, here in push is a fine example.

The Brit awards - a British music award - recently went gender free….. many said this would lead to a dominance of traditional male artists…. It was scoffed at and said non binary artists were uncomfortable with male/female categories…. This year the main award “best artist” - is all male…. This has set back work to make female artists have a platform massively. Then we have the Scotland fiasco with prisons. I truly am an advocate for rights for all. Especially those most persecuted… but we must make sure we protect women’s rights on top…. They don’t need to be in conflict. We can all live together and respect each other…. There is a way. It might just not be easy.

@PushSquare to be fair you state your own stance on it. Two users I know no longer see this website as a safe space due to that and are not using the site. It’s a shame the review didn’t stick to the review. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. That point has been lost.

I’m asking respectfully that people are careful not to misgender others and use the wrong pronouns.

This is the modern world and it’s really not asking too much that we could all respect each others pronouns and genders.

It works both ways. Often an issue for people that are only willing to see it one way.

Some people have struggled with their gender identity for years. This struggle is real and can be very damaging.

I wish people would not try and force their limited understanding of gender issues on others. You don’t know or understand the struggle many have been through and your generalisation that they/them is “good enough” is ignorant at best/dangerous at worst.

This website should be a safe space for everyone and everyone is on a different journey.

If the game has made such a huge and monumental mistake when gendering its characters it will be a real set back in the community.

We can’t pick and choose when we want gendering options or who gets to own the right to be upset when misgendered….

Mental health does not work that way.

@AlesXXVI it would be the height of irony if 95%+ of the population is misgendered in a game shrouded in controversy about gender issues.

If gender issues are that important, they can’t have got this wrong surely. It’s not ok to misgender anyone.

We are going backwards on this front, women’s rights especially. I feel very strongly about protecting those.
