@pip_muzz amen! I never understand why people seek to remove choice from others.

The uproar if they made the game accessible would be monumental. Gatekeepers would be boycotting left and right. The people that want to enjoy the game aren’t the issue here.

Hard pass. I don’t play games for fun. I play to log on to forums to say I only play games for a digital trophy that only exists on my account and profile for my console. That’s the sole reason I game. Games that don’t have trophies suck no matter how good they are and once I have a platinum I NEVER go back. Even sports games that are still fun.

This of course isn’t true but this is how ridiculous it is when people say pass on a game just because of its trophy.

I pay £3.40 a month for GPU including all exclusives day one.

$16 a month without exclusives isn’t comparable at all. The library of classic games would need to be pretty much every game on all three gens for me even to have a look and TBH I own at least 1000 games on ps123 I have far more interest in being able to play them rather than a tiny selection for this sort of money. This just isn’t a good idea at all.

Anyone who says “you are part of the problem” when referring to purchasing a video game really needs a reality check. In terms of problems in society….. this isn’t a problem.

Let’s not overblow that people like GTA and want to play a better version. Even if we don’t feel the same. There should be more choices so that we don’t have to worry

Just like Bethesda proved. The initial statements can soon change. Management can be changed. Direction can be changed. Sony can do what they like. They will buy a few more and say they want to keep the games on all platforms and see what MS do. It’s poker. I hope all the games stay multiplatform and I hope Xbox bring big names they’ve purchased to multiplatform.

@Godot25 I don’t disagree. My comment was more on the reaction by certain elements. I stand by my stance since it was announced. It’s bad for everyone as it means less games. Ignoring what they do with cod the other IPs will be lost in a big Xbox, Bethesda shuffle. Anyone who thinks these companies churn out the same amount of games they did - before covid and the take takeovers is on another planet. So everyone including Xbox owners (I am one) will get less games. Some may claim they’d have got less games anyway because shift in market. May have a point. It’s hard to call that one.

Same as above picked up both Xbox and PS sealed very cheap with all the extras. When it comes im set. Not tried either version. Will wait and play the best version.

Xbox only users 2021 - ugh not another yearly COD. halo is the best. We don’t need COD. Only casuals buy COD and FIFA.

Xbox only users 2022 - COD being exclusive in 4 versions time is massive and will send Sony bust.

Us in the middle think short term it’ll mean nothing as games take a while to develop and long term - it means less games for everyone including Xbox owners.

I am a XSX and GPU owner/user.

Issue is Sony clearly want a piece of the GPU pie.

Xbox say it’s 10.99 but in reality most people pay under £3.50 a month. Even in sale Plus and Now cost me more than that.

If Sony redo this and aim for 10.99 a month it’s a hard pass from me. I wouldn’t pay that for GPU either so unless they realise they are actually competing with £3.50 a month and 80% of GPU subs are at that price and most wouldn’t pay more… they could be onto a winner.

At double or triple that I think they’ll find they actually cause more of a exodus to GPU. More and more people are discussing the cheap ways to get GPU and so it’ll become more attractive

I plan to go find one of the disks later and pay my tenner. Happy to support proper cinematic experiences like this. Want more games like this on all consoles.

@awp69 to be honest the most aggressive comments seemed to be on the side of Xbox. I own a PS5 and XSX. Sub to both now and GPU. Sony only fans have a right to feel miffed this week. I can only imagine the anger if Sony had pulled the same move from the Xbox only crew.

I am myself disappointed because third parties companies being swallowed up into Sony or Xbox will lead to less games. Which IMHO is bad.

We are where we are and EA will be next and that will be the biggest one yet.

I own a Switch, XSX and a PS5 and for me this is bad news just as the Bethesda one was... less games will be released and thats a fact. xbox wont have an Activision AAA come out at the same time as a Bethesda or a few weeks apart and then their own games on top...

I’d like to say - lots of us use all three sites and own all three consoles. I’d love to see more cross site content. Breakdown some of the more hardline borders like we don’t like the other brands. Most of us like all plastic boxes that play games.

Using Tom and Jerry is to simplify to explain to people a similar example to why people don’t want main playable characters killed off it’s not ridiculous…. It’s using an example of why people like a certain thing and why if you go the other way it’ll be a turn off. You don’t play a game to die and have no say over it. In 1 you are both characters. You are invested and controlling both. To kill a playable character in a game is unheard of because it’s stupid. The main reason movies do it is because the actor is leaving the character and that’s why 9 times out of ten they do it. Video games don’t need to do that.

The fact that in the setting people have in this very thread said “he was a violent man” says it all.

I am not against pushing games in new directions and being bold but I understand why people don’t want main playable characters killed off and why it’s a turn off.

@Infernal No, we need to be sensible and stop treating games differently to movies. Movie franchises when they kill off beloved characters it doesn’t go down well and often that’s not for “storytelling” but because actors want to move on.

Do we want a Tom and Jerry movie where Tom catches Jerry and mauls him. Or is that the opposite reason we watch Tom and Jerry.

Many find the current trend of killing heroes over played. It’s no longer shocking or clever it’s tiresome and a cliche/troupe

@nessisonett that is a terrible argument. So all the celebs that have spoken up in Black Lives Matter, shouldn’t speak up? Especially ones it “doesn’t affect” you are having you cake and eating it. Try challenging the people that actually cause harm, that actual set laws and actually wish harm on trans community and have conversations on topics which are maybe required.

Lots of National papers and news networks especially in the U.K. do more damage to trans rights daily than Rowling does. To blame Rowling is laughable.

Try reading the daily Mail and see their transphobic views and the comments section and tell me any energy should be thrown at Rowling. So of the defence against what she says is the same as when a man says “not all men” we all know the “not all men” defence is pathetic. I see no difference here. Listening to concerns and conversation is so important. As a community we have gone backwards and that is the main reason for hate. Even allies are being cancelled whilst hate grows and grows. Minorities are more marginalised than ever from main society. It sad to see. We often are challenging the wrong people.

She has asked some questions about issues to do with problems arising with certain areas. To be closed off the discuss these issues and have a safer world for everyone is why such massive divisions exist in society.

She has not fuelled any hatred progress for one group that suffers discrimination can not be at the hands of another group we can find a way that everyone is safe and accepted and a world free of hatred. If you believe the biggest enemy of trans people is JK Rowling you really don’t understand the world.

She certainly shouldn’t be deleted from the world of Harry Potter because of what she has said.

It’s a sad state of affairs that she is at the centre of cancel culture.

We have a conservative government which is far more harmful to the trans community.

I don’t agree with everything she has said but progress happens from discussions and education and honesty from all involved.
